She's so underrated. Any gossip or stories about her?
|by Anonymous||reply 112||October 13, 2021 11:34 PM|
I don’t think she’s underrated. She’s yet to give the epic, serious performance she’s obviously capable of, imo.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||August 16, 2021 2:18 AM|
I don't think she's underrated. It's amazing how many films she's made showcasing her quirky personality.

|by Anonymous||reply 3||August 16, 2021 2:21 AM|
She is called the Queen of Indie. How is she underrated?
|by Anonymous||reply 4||August 16, 2021 2:23 AM|
I find her one note and over the age of 35, often annoying. She has some good roles now and then.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||August 16, 2021 2:24 AM|
|by Anonymous||reply 6||August 16, 2021 2:25 AM|
But it’s a PERFECT NOTE, R5. Range is NOT a virtue, despite what uppity fans and critics think.
As for an epic, serious performance: her arc on Louie was one of the best performances in TV history, and no one is allowed to disagree with me on that.
|by Anonymous||reply 7||August 16, 2021 2:26 AM|
OK, Hyperbole Harry. You really know how to animate a conversation.
|by Anonymous||reply 8||August 16, 2021 2:28 AM|
Underrated as she's never had the one breakout role.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||August 16, 2021 2:28 AM|
It was all downhill after As The World Turns.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||August 16, 2021 2:28 AM|
R8 = Blocked
|by Anonymous||reply 11||August 16, 2021 2:29 AM|
Her face is not helping her.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||August 16, 2021 2:30 AM|
R12 Seriously? She's hot as hell.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||August 16, 2021 2:31 AM|
Yeah I think she's gotten plenty of credit for the work that she's done. I like House of Yes.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||August 16, 2021 2:31 AM|
This thread is nothing without pica.

She's great on Netflix's Lost In Space reboot. One more season of that still to come!
|by Anonymous||reply 17||August 16, 2021 2:40 AM|
I want to see more of her.
|by Anonymous||reply 18||August 16, 2021 2:41 AM|
I felt sorry for her in the Singer Superman. She was too old for a moll role.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||August 16, 2021 2:42 AM|
|by Anonymous||reply 20||August 16, 2021 2:44 AM|
I love her as a bitch in dazed and confused.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||August 16, 2021 3:07 AM|
R19 Not at all. I thought she was perfect.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||August 16, 2021 3:07 AM|
R9 That…isn’t what underrated means.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||August 16, 2021 3:09 AM|
We need a Parker Posey/Janeane Garofalo movie.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||August 16, 2021 3:15 AM|
I knew her back in her SUNY Purchase days. She was a doll. We chatted a few times at parties. That’s all I’ve got.
And she was gorgeous.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||August 16, 2021 3:16 AM|
She is freaking brilliant
|by Anonymous||reply 26||August 16, 2021 3:17 AM|
Doe she ever wear wigs? Or own any?
|by Anonymous||reply 27||August 16, 2021 3:17 AM|
Who doesn't love her and Shirl in Hell on Heels?
|by Anonymous||reply 28||August 16, 2021 3:24 AM|
"Hutch! What you wanna keep on sleeping with Rosanna for?"
|by Anonymous||reply 29||August 16, 2021 3:25 AM|
OK I had no idea such a treasure exists, R28. Milles mercies!
|by Anonymous||reply 30||August 16, 2021 3:28 AM|
R28 She talks about it in the book. Shirley came in to the trailer with a box with her wig in it, and wondered why Parker was using her real hair.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||August 16, 2021 3:32 AM|

|by Anonymous||reply 36||August 16, 2021 6:29 AM|
R36 Looks like she got veneers.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||August 16, 2021 6:33 AM|
Years ago, I watched the TV movie she did with Shirley MacLaine about Mary K and I thought she was great (as far as her post-90s indie arthouse queen reign goes).
I’m excited for her to play Freda Black. She has a crazy life story and I think Posey will do the part justice.
I’m not a Ari Aster fan, but I recognise how in-demand he is and it’s cool she has a role in his latest film.
I would love to see her collaborate with Mike White. I feel like they’re from the same food group.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||August 16, 2021 6:33 AM|
She’s cringe in everything I have seen her in but she’s pretty.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||August 16, 2021 6:36 AM|
This was funny.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||August 16, 2021 6:39 AM|
She was pretty epic in Hal Hartley’s Henry Fool. The deadpan style with that undercurrent of sadness fit her perfectly.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||August 16, 2021 6:51 AM|
Annoying and off-putting in everything I’ve seen her do. And with large and masculine feet.
|by Anonymous||reply 42||August 16, 2021 7:09 AM|
R42 Hey now.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||August 16, 2021 7:12 AM|
She was excellent in "Broken English".
|by Anonymous||reply 44||August 16, 2021 7:17 AM|
She’s done consistently good work her entire career, but was exceptionally brilliant in Search Party.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||August 16, 2021 7:23 AM|
I am a huge Parker Posey fan. I think she’s fantastic. I’ve admired her work ever since “Party Girl”.
Parker, myself and a friend hung out one time, only for an hour or two, at the old Tuesday night Beige Party at B Bar on the Lower East Side, early 2000s. So much fun!
|by Anonymous||reply 46||August 16, 2021 7:28 AM|
No love for Clockwatchers?
|by Anonymous||reply 47||August 16, 2021 7:30 AM|
R46 What was she like? Tell us more.
|by Anonymous||reply 48||August 16, 2021 7:32 AM|
House of Yes is neat.
|by Anonymous||reply 49||August 16, 2021 8:48 AM|
Clockwatchers is a really good little known film.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||August 16, 2021 11:54 AM|
The most unfortunate...
|by Anonymous||reply 51||August 16, 2021 4:14 PM|
Talked to her on the street once downtown - she was lovely.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||August 16, 2021 4:15 PM|
"Party Girl" was one of my favorite movies eons ago.
Last time I watched it, I didn't think it held up that well, but she was very good in it.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||August 16, 2021 4:20 PM|
I've shared this story a few times on DL, but it never gets any traction. I was an invited guest of film producers at Sundance in 2017. Parker was staying in the same chalet (probably 9 of us total). It's very different being in the same home with someone for x4 days (x2 of those we were all snowed in,) v having a few drinks with them in a bar randomly. I can't say she wasn't nice, but she would essentially ice all of us out after arranged social functions until she was ready to reappear. Then she would sashay in the kitchen or living room and semi-holler, "Parker is here!" We all just kind of went with it, because she's Parker Fucking Posey, But I remember asking the guy who brought me as a guest what the fuck was going on with her. Her dog (who has since passed away) also made x3 other dogs in the house deathly ill. All that to say, she did do a cucumber eye mask with me by the fireplace one night. (Hi, Parker, if you're reading this!)

[quote]Her dog (who has since passed away) also made x3 other dogs in the house deathly ill.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||August 16, 2021 4:54 PM|
what traction would you expect for the anecdote?
|by Anonymous||reply 56||August 16, 2021 4:56 PM|
R56 People begging him for details, I guess?
Parker is okay, but I can't believe she managed to lose Busy Bee. If she hadn't, Beatrice would have taken Best in Show, because those other dogs were fat-ass losers. Freaks!
|by Anonymous||reply 57||August 16, 2021 5:13 PM|
Hmmm. I've always thought she was overrated.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||August 16, 2021 5:18 PM|
In her book and stuff she often seems to be short of money. Maybe the type of films she makes don't pay well. She lives in what seems to be a very ordinary one bedroom apt in the West Village. I may be way off target but this is what I gather.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||August 16, 2021 5:21 PM|
Did Parkey ever scissor with Chloë Sevigny? Or, did they avoid each other at events?
|by Anonymous||reply 60||August 16, 2021 5:29 PM|
Parker and Chloe were friends and used to live in the same apartment building. I don’t know if they still are friends.
|by Anonymous||reply 61||August 16, 2021 6:07 PM|
Also, for the person upthread who surmised she has trouble with money—indie films really, really don’t pay much. Chloe has been in the same boat for most of her career, but like Parker she’s occasionally been in larger, mainstream productions. Unlike Parker, Chloe has consistently done modeling and gotten endorsement deals (I don’t know if ‘endorsement’ is the word for it) throughout her career, which have paid way, way more than the independent film work she’s done.
|by Anonymous||reply 62||August 16, 2021 6:10 PM|
|by Anonymous||reply 63||August 16, 2021 6:14 PM|
That is a very, VERY loose impression of Chloe.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||August 16, 2021 6:25 PM|
Parker and Chloe are queens.
|by Anonymous||reply 65||August 16, 2021 6:29 PM|
She's the type of actress who always seems to do, more or less, what she wants. She's done a handful of paycheck movies here and there, but very few. I respect that.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||August 16, 2021 6:43 PM|
Parker is way more attractive than Chloe.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||August 16, 2021 8:17 PM|
[quote]No love for Clockwatchers?
LOVE that movie! I actually have the movie poster framed because I loved the tagline: "waiting for your life to change can be a full-time job."
|by Anonymous||reply 68||August 16, 2021 8:19 PM|
R54 I want the full story.
|by Anonymous||reply 69||August 16, 2021 8:20 PM|
Great IG account.
|by Anonymous||reply 70||August 16, 2021 9:47 PM|
One trick pony
|by Anonymous||reply 71||August 16, 2021 11:08 PM|
She was great in Personal Velocity, Clockwatchers, and the House of Yes. She’s sort of the same in her movies—snarky, witty/banter-y and very cynical. But it fits to have a character like that in many movies, although usually as an ensemble or minor character.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||August 16, 2021 11:12 PM|
Looks so hot here.
|by Anonymous||reply 73||August 16, 2021 11:22 PM|
She’s so funny in will & grace.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||August 16, 2021 11:39 PM|
R74 When was she on Will and Grace?
|by Anonymous||reply 75||August 16, 2021 11:41 PM|
She is funny and can do drama and she is still beautiful and real looking.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||August 16, 2021 11:41 PM|
She has like three expressions: "bored", "mouth agape bored", and "smirk bored". Can't stand her.
|by Anonymous||reply 77||August 16, 2021 11:42 PM|
R75 she’s in a couple of diff episodes as Jack’s boss Dorleen at Barney’s.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||August 16, 2021 11:42 PM|
R74 She was cringe but jack and will were great around her.
|by Anonymous||reply 79||August 16, 2021 11:42 PM|
She'd look great with a bald head.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||August 16, 2021 11:48 PM|
She and Julie Bowen could do a Samantha/Serena send-up. I think they look a lot alike. Here is a picture of the two of them together.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||August 16, 2021 11:51 PM|
I've always thought Parker Posey and foreign Broadway's Ruthie Henshall favor. Variety thought so too.
|by Anonymous||reply 82||August 16, 2021 11:54 PM|
Posey along with Elizabeth Shue and Phoebe Cates were among my most fevered crushes as a young gayling. Like how cool would they have been to have as an older sister.
|by Anonymous||reply 83||August 17, 2021 12:19 AM|
R54 here again...I had the chance to smoke some weed with Parker and Rory Culkin after their Sundance film premiere. Rory was definitely over the whole publicity charade (and he's tiny...smaller than me, and I'm 5'6"). Also, we were barred from taking pics of one with Parker in the chalet; we'd all been warned about this ahead of time by her agent. I did bring a 'Scream 3' DVD for her to sign for a sick friend, and she signed that on the last day whilst also signing Tori Tori Spelling's name simultaneously. She said she'd seen Tori sign her name so many times she knew how to sign it. And she actually did!
|by Anonymous||reply 84||August 17, 2021 2:09 AM|
R84 How tall is Parker?
|by Anonymous||reply 85||August 17, 2021 2:13 AM|
R84 here again...sorry for the typos. R85, Parker is probably about 5'5". She was wearing a lot of boots, so it was hard to tell. 'The Young Pope' had just premiered and we all watched that in the chalet while we were snowed in. Someone asked if she'd ever met Jude Law, and she said just in passing, but that she'd love to fuck him. In a living room full of gay men, we all laughed and seconded her.
|by Anonymous||reply 86||August 17, 2021 2:17 AM|
R86 Does/did she wear wig? Or have veneers?
|by Anonymous||reply 87||August 17, 2021 2:19 AM|
R86 No biggie with the typos, we understood fine. I always thought she was around 5'5/5'6.
|by Anonymous||reply 88||August 17, 2021 2:22 AM|
Toni Colette is the underrated Clockwatcher. I like Parker Posey, but she’s the same in every movie.
|by Anonymous||reply 89||August 17, 2021 2:26 AM|
Oh my god, enough with the stupid autistic wig obsession.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||August 17, 2021 5:31 PM|
Can wigs be autistic?
|by Anonymous||reply 91||August 17, 2021 5:47 PM|
Go to bed autistic.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||August 17, 2021 5:48 PM|
She also did a voice on The Simpsoms.
|by Anonymous||reply 93||August 17, 2021 8:31 PM|
Loved her in Scream 3.
|by Anonymous||reply 94||August 17, 2021 9:45 PM|
|by Anonymous||reply 95||August 17, 2021 9:46 PM|
R94 Yep. Better than Courteney.
|by Anonymous||reply 96||August 17, 2021 9:46 PM|
She's the only major reason to see Scream 3.
|by Anonymous||reply 97||August 17, 2021 10:34 PM|
Oooh, I just rewatched “Clockwatchers” and loved it even more.
|by Anonymous||reply 98||August 17, 2021 11:29 PM|
I watched clockwatchers because of this thread. Very fun. Love the scene when it’s 4:59 and the camera oscillates between the four of them as they stare at the clock, Lisa Kudrow’s slight change in facial expressions was too good!
|by Anonymous||reply 99||August 17, 2021 11:49 PM|
She's very nice. Surprisingly thoughtful. Goes out of her way.
|by Anonymous||reply 100||August 18, 2021 12:00 AM|
R100 Tell me more, tell me more.
|by Anonymous||reply 101||August 18, 2021 12:01 AM|
Posey in Scream 3 is on my personal ballot for supporting actress that year. I'd have to review the contenders, but I might even give her the win.
Her chemistry with Courtney Cox is off-the-charts.
My only gripe is she didn't get a death scene worthy of her performance.
|by Anonymous||reply 102||August 18, 2021 12:11 AM|
I rewatched Hpuse of Yes because of this thread and it was even funnier than I remembered. I'm going to try Clockwatchers now
|by Anonymous||reply 103||August 18, 2021 12:35 AM|
She is absolutely hilarious in High Fidelity.
|by Anonymous||reply 104||August 18, 2021 1:43 AM|
She’s devastating in her arc on Louie, as I mentioned at the beginning of this thread. That, to me, is perhaps the crown jewel of all her performances to date.
|by Anonymous||reply 105||August 18, 2021 3:27 AM|
R105 It certainly is one of them.
|by Anonymous||reply 106||August 18, 2021 3:29 AM|

Any truth the bestiality video rumor?
|by Anonymous||reply 109||August 20, 2021 12:48 AM|
Technically, you can't have a Masters in Parker Posey unless you've seen "Clockwatchers"
“Do you ever feel like you’re floating? You’re not connected to anything or anybody? I feel like I could vanish and no one would even notice. Not for weeks.”
