Thanks, OP! Just subscribed to it. Great thread. Always looking for good podcasts. So many bad ones to sort through. TCM has a good one called The Plot Thickens.

Missing on 9/11. It’s about a young doctor whose goes missing in Lower Manhattan the night of September 10, 2001. She had issues at work, issues with alcohol and drugs, family issues and was possibly bisexual and bi-polar. Her family thinks she died a hero saving people at ground zero. Others that knew her think she may have faked her own death.

R3 I remember seeing that story on Unsolved Mysteries.

I was raised watching Unsolved Mysteries and have been obsessed with true crime/missing person cases as long as I can remember—I really like the "Unfound" podcast, which profiles a missing person case each week. Part of why I like it is because it mostly covers obscure cases that you've never heard of. The host interviews a family member of the missing person in each episode, and some of them are really fascinating. The host, Ed, does come across as a bit arrogant at times, but I don't think he's intending to. Regardless, I listen to it weekly.

I used to listen to the "Missing Maura Murray" podcast which delved into her case, but it unfortunately got dragged on too long and the two guys who hosted it more and more revealed themselves to be clowns. Maura's case is bewildering, though, and the first 10-20 episodes of that podcast were really good.

Aside from true crime, I've also been listening to Jennette McCurdy's "Empty Inside" for the last few months. I had no idea who she was (I was too old to be watching "i-Carly" when it was on TV), but found the podcast because I comedian I like was featured on it. She's a good conversationalist and is emotionally intelligent. I used to listen to Anna Faris's podcast, but that one too lost its magic as time went on.

The History of Egypt podcast. The host's voice is very soothing and he knows how to be engaging and informative.

Cum Town-Snarky funny podcast by three NYC based comedians-Nick Mullen, Stavros Halkias and Adam Friedland. BTW, Nick is a hottie.

Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast. He and his co-host (who does most of the talking) interview showbiz types. The current episode:

The Rialto Report. I love the deep dives into the adult industry of the 1970s and 1980s. The podcast on “Centurions of Rome” was insanely entertaining…I heard it was optioned. Also great was the 10-parter on Traci Lords and the great one on Wade Nichols/Dennis Parker.

What's interesting sometimes is to search out a subject and see what comes up. For instance, I was curious to hear any discussions about the film "Play Misty for Me," and bunch came up. Unfortunately most of them were millennials giggling, uptalking and professing bewilderment at Clint Eastwood's directorial choices: "I dunno, like, it starts out with Clint just, like, DRIVING and DRIVING with this goofy music playing. I'm like, what's up with that?"
