Always had a soft spot for Karen as she worked hard and became a very good actress, unlike other 80s soap divas (e.g. Tonya Crowe, Claire Yarlett).
What do DLers think is Karen’s best performance?

UM, her best performance? She was on "Dynasty" 13 episodes until she was fired. Before that job, she was a coat check girl at a Hard Rock Cafe.

Well, R1, I’m sorry you can’t appreciate one of the greatest actresses ever to grace the screen. And NOBODY could say, ‘here’s your change’ to a customer like Miss Cellini.

Tonya Crowe is a big Deplorable these days so… at least she’s not her

R2. LOL. fucking hilarious

R u kidding me? The best replacement for Catherine Oxenberg was a fucking no talent hat check girl named Karen Cellini? WTF was wrong with spelling? We get Emma Samms, Shelly Hack, Pat Klous and the New Julie on Love Boat. Did he just get fucking lazy?

Shows how much you know, R5. She didn’t just check hats she also wiped down tables and answered phones. All of which would prove to be useful experience for her acting career. Catherine who?

Shut up, OP.

Catherine Oxenberg at R7

Meryl Streep better watch out -- Miss Cellini might be about to stage a return soon.

In all seriousness she was cast at the last second when they were in a tight spot as she herself admitted at the time.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 16, 2021 9:27 AM |
That one where she asked to see the manager.

She was probably a better actress than Oxenberg, everything considered; but the latter was better fit for the role.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 16, 2021 9:14 PM |
Oxenberg was just stunt casting. She had some tenuous link to the BRF and so they hired her to be their Princess Diana knockoff.

Oxenberg brought something regal to the role, Cellini was not attractive and an awful actress. Spelling didn't care about the viewers, and thought all the talent was easily replaced. Look at what he did to his other TV shows...

Yes, season seven is really when it became clear the Dynasty producers no longer cared.

R15. Just like "Charlies Angels". Tanya Roberts was a former model and she's suddenly qualified to be a Private Investigator? Completly change the entire concept of the show...

Oxenberg had the pout down. I also loved her with Michael Nader. I did not mind Cellini - she was pretty, and by Spelling standards she was just fine.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 18, 2021 2:34 PM |
r17 Yes, you are correct - thats why she was fired and never heard from again. She was an amazing actress and beautiful Puleaze
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 19, 2021 4:38 AM |
She was so bad that she never did a Fantasy Island or a Love Boat...
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 20, 2021 11:06 PM |
I wish they had brought Cellini on as a Special Guest Star on Melrose Place back in the day...
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 20, 2021 11:11 PM |
I never saw her on Dynasty, but was she SO bad that she never acted again?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 26, 2021 9:18 PM |
I saw her off-Broadway in ‘night Mother opposite Mary Jo Catlett.
Electrifying. Some performers are just born for the boards.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 26, 2021 9:27 PM |
She was so unattractive too...
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 26, 2021 9:29 PM |
How did they explain when she disappeared from Denver? I don't think she was in the sequels either, Like suddenly Blake & Alexis didn't have a 2nd daughter?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 8, 2021 7:45 PM |
She was a better actress than Oxenberg, but that's not a major achievement. Oxenberg, however, was also stunningly beautiful, which Cellini wasn't.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 8, 2021 8:48 PM |
I saw her in 'Extremeties' at a theatre near Rancho Mirage like twenty years ago, it was life changing!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 8, 2021 9:42 PM |
Karen Cellini was so bad she never did a Love Boat r a Fantasy Island
