Dick York was in lust with Elizabeth Montgomery

The official story was he left the show due to ongoing back problems. But she just wanted him off the show.

OP stop making shit up. The man could barely walk when he left.

by Anonymousreply 2August 14, 2021 2:14 PM

She was fucking gorgeous. Even I as a Kinsey 10 can see that.

by Anonymousreply 3August 14, 2021 2:17 PM

R2, watch r1.

R3, I concur. EM was gorgeous but also charismatic, talented, and funny. She probably wanted a gay Darrin to keep her co-star crushing to a manageable level.

by Anonymousreply 4August 14, 2021 2:22 PM

He does sound kind of creepy in that youtube clip.

by Anonymousreply 5August 14, 2021 2:22 PM

She must be a great actress then, because on the show you would never guess she didn't like him.

by Anonymousreply 6August 14, 2021 2:26 PM

Elizabeth was a cunt. I know, believe me

by Anonymousreply 7August 14, 2021 2:31 PM

He had a beer can cock and in a fit of lust he showed it to her once. She stared at that throbbing barrel of a dick and her talon-like fingernails were just inches from stroking the knob when she caught herself and turned away.

It was then she knew she’d never be able to think of anything but being filled up by the paint can of a penis and she begged to Studio to send his thicc prong elsewhere.

by Anonymousreply 8August 14, 2021 2:31 PM

Was it so heavy it caused his back problems, R8?

by Anonymousreply 9August 14, 2021 2:33 PM

[Quote]She was fucking gorgeous. Even I as a Kinsey 10 can see that.

Same here, and just like you, I'm all kinds of gay.

by Anonymousreply 10August 14, 2021 2:45 PM

did 'im..

by Anonymousreply 11August 14, 2021 2:46 PM

A Kinsey 10? I thought it went up to 6?

by Anonymousreply 12August 14, 2021 2:56 PM

Elizabeth was extremely kind to people whenever she was on a game show. She was wonderful on Password. Her and DL Goddess, Betty White are probably my favorite celeb password players.

by Anonymousreply 13August 14, 2021 2:57 PM

Her and DL goddess…

by Anonymousreply 14August 14, 2021 3:25 PM

Oh piffle, r13.

That wouldn't explain why he didn't work again for 15 years, though, or why so many people who worked on the show have talked in interviews about all the things they did to work around his debilitating back pain.

This is just Dick talking about how beautiful Elizabeth was, and she was, he's not wrong. I'd bet almost every straight man she ever met felt the same way.

by Anonymousreply 16August 14, 2021 3:31 PM

His making her feel uncomfortable may have been a final straw, but his pain and disability obviously got worse over time. He also was at the end of his five year contract, so it was easy for them not to renew.

Dick Sargent never really connected with co-stars regardless of gender. That may be why he always seemed to play ineffectual civil servants or junior military officers or else harried brothers of more charismatic characters. He just needed to play thwarted and/or frustrated, as he did on "Bewitched". In contrast. York was a talented, versatileactor who had done comedy, drama, Hollywood and Broadway. Between Sargent's weak acting and the downhill trajectory of the writing, the "New darrin" years became unwatchable.

I'll drink to that R3.

The man at R1 can barely form a sentence and looks like he's putting a fresh batch of shit into his Depends.

Not sure we can take him as a reliable source

by Anonymousreply 19August 14, 2021 4:57 PM

Apparently r9. When it got hard it was so heavy it redistributed his weight and threw his back out.

I’ve since discovered they had one torrid edging session and they even filmed it. There’s a grainy old video circulating. She kept him on edge for a half hour until he finally came, when she aggressively palmed his massive knob until he almost broke the restraints in his agony.

It was this that caused her to banish him. She could feel herself sinking into a pit of debauchery with the aptly named Dick York and wanted him out of her life forever.

Apparently the video circulated in adult stores in the 70s, under the title “Dick’s too big”

by Anonymousreply 21August 14, 2021 6:02 PM

In addition to the back pain, York had a serious pain killer addiction - missed many taping sessions.

by Anonymousreply 22August 14, 2021 6:19 PM

He does sound creepy at OP (audio only). Him leaving was maybe a combo of creep factor and back pain.

The second Darren had no warmth. The 1st Darren was more convincing as a husband attracted to his wife.

A good interview with Bernie Kopell who talks about the series.

I had no idea Bernie Kopell was such a good storyteller. Imagine the stories he could tell!

by Anonymousreply 25August 15, 2021 1:51 AM

Why didn't they hire Bernie to play Darren?

by Anonymousreply 26August 15, 2021 3:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 27October 26, 2021 12:13 AM

Endora didn't call him DarWOOD for nothing.

by Anonymousreply 28October 26, 2021 12:16 AM

Something tells me that Endora wasn't fond of straight mortal males but had more than her share of gay mortal male friends. Obviously one of them taught her fashion and how to do her makeup. She was probably the one who threw the first brick at Stonewall!

by Anonymousreply 29November 16, 2021 2:10 AM

R28, I was also quite fond of "Darweed."

by Anonymousreply 30November 16, 2021 2:11 AM

Dick York was a little too fond of Elizabeth but I think she basically just ignored it because it was manageable. In a book I have about Bewitched the author states that Dick missed 14 episodes of the 5th year of the series due to his health concerns and also took a week off when his mother died. They could see the writing on the wall and knew that they had to let him go - and did.
