I have been brushing my teeth wrong for decades

I have been immediately rinsing my mouth out with water after brushing and have just learned that one must spit out the toothpaste foam and then wait 30 minutes to rinse or drink anything to allow the fluoride to do it’s job.

Who knew?

by Anonymousreply 67August 17, 2021 4:00 PM

It's quite doable if only you don't have a life. And that's why we have mouthwash.

by Anonymousreply 1August 12, 2021 4:42 PM

No more brushing first thing in the morning. It’s after coffee from now on.

I’d never use mouthwash in place of brushing R1.

by Anonymousreply 2August 12, 2021 5:03 PM

Have you tried a toothpaste douche? I hear that does something.

by Anonymousreply 3August 12, 2021 5:05 PM

I’m not in the habit of kissing my own ass R3.

I leave that to others.

by Anonymousreply 4August 12, 2021 5:24 PM

I brush first thing in the morning. I knew about the fluoride but I usually don’t eat anything until around 10/11AM anyway.

I started using an electric toothbrush at the beginning of 2021 and noticed the app it syncs to gives me awards when I brush before 6AM - I haven’t bothered to find out why that particular time is such a good thing.

by Anonymousreply 5August 12, 2021 5:34 PM

Why can't they just inject Flouride directly into our bodies, like the Covid vaccinne?

by Anonymousreply 6August 14, 2021 1:21 AM

It has now gone "viral" that you should actually use mouthwash BEFORE you brush your teeth because the mouthwash after is washing off the concentrated flouride from the toothpaste.

by Anonymousreply 7August 14, 2021 1:23 AM

Thanks, OP. I’m in my 60s and I did not know that but it makes total sense.

by Anonymousreply 8August 14, 2021 1:26 AM

I've never heard this before. OP is making this up.

Also, I use a mouthwash that has fluoride in it, r7l

by Anonymousreply 9August 14, 2021 1:31 AM

R9, I know mouthwash has fluoride, but the belief is that the wash fluoride is not as concentrated, so you're rinsing away the more concentrated form.

by Anonymousreply 10August 14, 2021 1:34 AM

THE DRAMA OF IT ALL. NEAR DEATH DUE TO LOW FLUORIDE!

by Anonymousreply 11August 14, 2021 1:35 AM

The right has destroyed the flouride in are nation, with their insessance.

by Anonymousreply 12August 14, 2021 1:37 AM

Isn't the water also full of flouride?

by Anonymousreply 13August 14, 2021 1:37 AM

Flossing is more important than brushing or fluoride.

by Anonymousreply 14August 14, 2021 1:39 AM

What teeth?

by Anonymousreply 15August 14, 2021 1:39 AM

R14, you are Russian disinformation.

by Anonymousreply 16August 14, 2021 1:46 AM

I just found out that you should wash that oily mess off right after you put on sun screen. Who knew?

by Anonymousreply 17August 14, 2021 1:47 AM

My regimen: Floss Mouthwash Plaque HD Plaque Identifying Toothpaste followed by Sensodyne Tongue scraper Tung gel/Tung scrubber* spit I don't rinse for at least an hour

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 18August 14, 2021 1:48 AM

OP: How come no one ever told us this including dentists and dental hygienists?

by Anonymousreply 19August 14, 2021 1:48 AM
Who knew?

Everyone. Everyone knows this.

Everyone.

by Anonymousreply 20August 14, 2021 1:48 AM

Shit, forgot to properly format

My regimen: Floss

Mouthwash

Plaque HD Plaque Identifying Toothpaste followed by Sensodyne

Tongue scraper

Tung gel/Tung scrubber*

spit

I don't rinse for at least an hour

by Anonymousreply 21August 14, 2021 1:49 AM

There is little evidence fluoride helps adult teeth. It’s far more effective for young growing teeth

by Anonymousreply 22August 14, 2021 1:51 AM

You guys who don’t wash out the toothpaste immediately are gross.

I guess this assumes you brush after you eat breakfast and drink coffee

by Anonymousreply 23August 14, 2021 1:53 AM

There is no right way to brush your teeth, stupid cunt. Fuckhead.

by Anonymousreply 24August 14, 2021 1:54 AM

I have to spit outside, or I may barf.

I do brush for like 10 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 25August 14, 2021 1:55 AM

I do enough for my teeth—

Waterpik

Floss

Brush teeth

Best tongue

Spit out tooth paste

Wash mouth

I’M NOT DOING ANYMORE SHIT

by Anonymousreply 26August 14, 2021 1:59 AM

Brushing only removes plaque from the front and back surfaces of the teeth, but flossing removes plaque from between the teeth and [bold]below the gum line[/bold]. This is where most destructive microbes live. Relying primarily on brushing leaves your gums vulnerable to gingivitis.

by Anonymousreply 27August 14, 2021 2:09 AM
Isn't the water also full of fluoride?

Thank you, I was waiting for someone to say it. And only people prone to cavities need "concentrated" fluoride (which frankly sounds more like marketing than medicine). I'm in my mid-50s and got my first cavity (tiny) about a year ago. For me, my brilliant dentist wants me to floss first, then use an electric toothbrush, then a waterpik or prescription mouthwash.

by Anonymousreply 28August 14, 2021 2:12 AM

Move to NY. There’s fluoride in the water.

by Anonymousreply 29August 14, 2021 2:14 AM

Similar to flossing, rinsing clean the sigmoid colon is an essential technique for hot, deep fucking.

by Anonymousreply 30August 14, 2021 2:16 AM

the condition of your teeth are really totally hereditary, unless you do meth.

by Anonymousreply 31August 14, 2021 2:17 AM

You're supposed to brush for 5 minutes then hold the toothpaste spit in your mouth for thirty not.

by Anonymousreply 32August 14, 2021 2:34 AM
allow the fluoride to do it’s job.
Who knew?

YOU would, OP, had you not destroyed your pineal gland with fluoride.

by Anonymousreply 33August 14, 2021 2:44 AM
I’M NOT DOING ANYMORE SHIT

Have you considered finishing middle school?

by Anonymousreply 34August 14, 2021 2:50 AM

"...allow the fluoride to do it’s job."

Oh, dear!

by Anonymousreply 35August 14, 2021 5:33 AM

And you do know not to brush your teeth for at least 30 mins after eating/drinking citrus, or you erode the enamel!

by Anonymousreply 36August 14, 2021 5:53 AM

^^ Coffee, too!

by Anonymousreply 37August 14, 2021 6:01 AM

I just read that it's best to brush your teeth BEFORE drinking red wine - never knew that. It's because food particles cling to teeth and those particles can take on the color of the wine, making your teeth look like they've turned purple. Brushing your teeth before your drink helps that problem.

by Anonymousreply 38August 14, 2021 6:31 AM

fI am old and my reeth are intact. I credit this to nothing more than brushing and flossiling daily. Flossing gets any little pieces of food between the teeth which cannot be removed by brushing . You have to do both, I swish mouthwash around and that is that,

by Anonymousreply 39August 14, 2021 8:07 AM

I am an old fossil - that a not a typo!

by Anonymousreply 40August 14, 2021 8:14 AM

This cunt of an OP needs to always hold her breath for 15 minutes every time she brushes.

by Anonymousreply 41August 14, 2021 1:04 PM

OP uses secretly the "guest" toothbrush for tub tile and toilet scrubbing.

by Anonymousreply 42August 14, 2021 1:49 PM

Who brushes their own teeth?

by Anonymousreply 43August 14, 2021 1:55 PM

Teeth only get in the way

by Anonymousreply 44August 14, 2021 3:36 PM

Spitters are Quitters, OP. Everyone knows that!

by Anonymousreply 45August 14, 2021 4:13 PM

Amateurs. A true whore doesn’t have any teeth at all.

by Anonymousreply 46August 14, 2021 4:16 PM

A true whore knows how to cover their teeth. A toothless one is just making it too easy.

by Anonymousreply 47August 15, 2021 2:45 AM
There’s fluoride in the water.

They are impurifying our precious bodily fluids.

by Anonymousreply 48August 16, 2021 2:40 AM

I gargle for a minute with hydrogen peroxide, floss, waterpic, tongue scrape, then Sonicare my teeth and gums using crest gum detoxify. This daily practice for made my last cleaning a breeze and no threats of having to go to the Peridontist to get periodontitis treatment. My teeth are also whiter.

by Anonymousreply 49August 16, 2021 2:58 AM

"Peridontist"

Oh, dear x2!

by Anonymousreply 50August 16, 2021 7:05 AM

OP, you stole this from last week's Daily Mail.

It was one dental assistant's opinion. I'd prefer an opinion from some senior operative.

by Anonymousreply 51August 16, 2021 7:15 AM

I didn’t steal it from anyone or anything R51.

I was prescribed a fluoride toothpaste by my dentist and read the “no rinse” instruction on the package.

by Anonymousreply 52August 17, 2021 2:49 AM
“no rinse”

Do you not rinse with water or with special Listerine?

by Anonymousreply 53August 17, 2021 2:58 AM

Wait. You were prescribed a fluoride toothpaste? You know that sort of what tooth paste is, right? Although now because people are needlessly worrying about fluoride, there are tooth pastes being sold that have none. People are idiots.

by Anonymousreply 54August 17, 2021 3:34 AM
I started using an electric toothbrush at the beginning of 2021 and noticed the app it syncs to gives me awards when I brush before 6AM

Why?

by Anonymousreply 55August 17, 2021 3:39 AM
Why can't they just inject Flouride directly into our bodies, like the Covid vaccinne?

Exactly. And to think of all the shit I took just because I like to get my teeth bleached!

by Anonymousreply 56August 17, 2021 3:43 AM

Because Fluoride is a mineral.

by Anonymousreply 57August 17, 2021 5:12 AM

Did you ever find the courage to let your mouth go?

by Anonymousreply 58August 17, 2021 5:56 AM

To let another man into your mouth?

by Anonymousreply 59August 17, 2021 5:57 AM
I have been brushing my teeth wrong for decades

No, you have been brushing your teeth incorrectly for decades.

by Anonymousreply 60August 17, 2021 6:02 AM
allow the fluoride to do it’s job. Who knew?

Who? The same people who know when NOT to use apostrophes, you idiot.

by Anonymousreply 61August 17, 2021 7:00 AM

Wow, people really like their fluoride. R52 I had not a clue there was stronger fluoride toothpaste available by special prescription in the US...and all the while I've been living here, my DMD has never offered it to me.

He knows I use fluoride free paste (Tom's of Maine Fennel Flavour, and an Ayurvedic Neem + Myrrh mystery brand that only has Hindi on the tube) He said iboth were fine. He's never attempted to convince me fluoride was necessary for adult teeth.

Who makes this Prescription strength toothpaste, and what is the concentration of fluoride? Is it Stannous Fluoride as opposed to MFP, or Sodium Fluoride? TIA

by Anonymousreply 62August 17, 2021 7:35 AM

What's a toothbrush?

by Anonymousreply 63August 17, 2021 12:05 PM

What's a tooth?

by Anonymousreply 64August 17, 2021 3:48 PM

What is love?

by Anonymousreply 65August 17, 2021 3:56 PM

OP, don't brush right after coffee, you should wait 30 minutes after eating or drinking anything acidic before brushing.

by Anonymousreply 66August 17, 2021 3:59 PM

R65 baby don't hurt me.
