Harkle covers no longer sell magazines in the UK
by Anonymous | reply 66 | August 16, 2021 2:18 PM |
I have a feeling they didn't think it would turn out this way. Megan fucked it all up for Harry. He needs to get out now.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 11, 2021 11:22 PM |
He should, but he won't.
She told him she would kill herself when she was pregnant.
Imagine what she tells him now that they have two children.
His goose is well and truly cooked.

Harry was under the impression that Markle is a Super Important Person, and couldn't do his own research, apoarently. He deserves every disappointment coming his way.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 11, 2021 11:30 PM |
He does deserve this. Dishonest, disloyal and disgusting person. He deserves all of this.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 11, 2021 11:41 PM |
I guess we’ll see what happens with the other publications. I still think people want to hate-read.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 11, 2021 11:42 PM |
People will use the tabloids for that, r5, which are free online.
Who is going to shell out 5 dollars or pounds to read some confected puff piece on the Harkles?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 11, 2021 11:46 PM |
Do they sell in the US?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 11, 2021 11:51 PM |
I'm curious - do they even appear on magazine covers in the USA? I see them all over covers of trashy mags every week here in NZ (pretty typical for a Commonwealth country, I think) but it's always accompanied with a headline about how terrible they are and never anything positive.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 12, 2021 12:01 AM |
They might sell a tiny bit better, but I sincerely doubt that they are selling huge numbers in the US either.
When a US magazine decides to do a proper, Dominic Dunne-style deep dive expose on them, that will sell like hot cakes, cover or not.
But so far no US magazine has been willing to piss off Sunshine Sachs, and so no expose.

This article is from last year, btw. Not sure why the OP is posting it now.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 12, 2021 12:02 AM |
Nobody wanted a Black version of Wallis Warfield Simpson because nobody wanted the white version in the first place.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 12, 2021 12:04 AM |
I'm OP and I posted it because it is a very telling statistic and it has yet to be posted on the DL, r10.
Do you think the Harkles are selling more magazine covers NOW then they were then?
Because I am certain their sales are half of what they were when this article was written.
The point of this thread is to ask what the true value of their brand could possibly be, if these are the stats.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 12, 2021 12:06 AM |
I notice that African American friends and colleagues don't know much about Markle but support her because of her appearance and race.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 12, 2021 12:07 AM |
And nobody wanted a fake black Wallis Simpson either, r11
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 12, 2021 12:07 AM |
OK, OP....fair enough.
Yeah....I bet it’s even worse now.

A black woman (American) at work and a woke white English female friend both believe she has been treated badly and was never allowed to speak her mind or do what she wants. They are both intelligent woman but seem to have no critical thought capability on certain issues,

That reminds me of a line in HBO Max's THE PRINCE (Harry and Meghan bit at 6:47)
Harry: You were on the very famous show "Suits" - more popular in the states than even "Friends", you told us.
Meghan: Yeah, I might have oversold that a little bit at the time.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 12, 2021 12:13 AM |
r1 I think they are both to blame.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 12, 2021 12:14 AM |
Do people realize that NOBODY in the BRF is ever allowed to speak their mind or do what they want? Also, all of them are treated badly by the media. Kate was only treated nicely once the next piece of new meat came on the scene. Before that she was treated unbelievably badly.
As for the way the family treated Meghan, the bullying scandal is proof of how gingerly the family tiptoed around Meghan - to the extent that they broke their cardinal rule of treating employees like gold.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 12, 2021 12:15 AM |
r16 What do they mean by she cant do whatever she wants? Realistically can most of us in any job or family? It seems an emotionally stunted mindset to think any kind of restraint or limitation in life is an unfairness.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 12, 2021 12:17 AM |
R8, I see specialty celeb-feature magazines at Whole Foods in NYC. They feature a single celeb and I guess it’s a whole issue about them. I’ve never looked at any of them. There’s one about Tupac, there’s a Will and Kate Anniversary issue, there’s one about Diana, etc.
Harry and Meghan are regulars on the tabloid covers in the supermarket checkout line, too.

Print sales are down all over. The true test will be how their podcasts eventually do on Spotify, how the Invictus Games documentary is viewed when it airs on Netflix in spring 2022 and how Harry book sells next year.

[R8], while waiting in line at the grocery store I saw a tab with Catherine's Pregnancy Drama on the cover. The Cambridges are the ones featured on the covers of the tabs here in The Colonies. I can't remember the last time I saw Harry and the Mrs. on the cover of a mag here. But I don't go looking for them. The weeklies are all about reality telly trash and healing and detoxing. Yawnsville...

This article has the clip from the podcast where Seward talked about Harkle covers not selling.
She said Hello Magazine told her the same thing.
It includes the podcast host replying that they seemed to still sell in America, but bear in mind this is from November 2020. I wonder if that is still true.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 12, 2021 1:23 AM |
In the Hudson Valley, N.Y. The slots w. mags. w. their mugs on them are usually ram jam full. Other ones more empty. So, here nobody's buying what they are trying to sell.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 12, 2021 1:48 AM |
They overexposed themselves and people lost interest.
You'd think their handlers would've warned them about that.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 12, 2021 1:56 AM |
At this stage, their reputation is so bad that their PR people need to consider getting out.
I already automatically associate Sunshine Sachs with terrible PR, and I suspect I'm not alone in that.

[quote] Ingrid Seward, EIC of Royalty Magazine, said that Meghan and Harry covers no longer sell in the UK
That can not be true at all. For the simple fact, I don't think their covers ever sold in UK or anywhere
I've noticed in the past week there have been so many stories bashing Meghan and Harry. Much more than usual. That's because the press is helping the palace deflect from the "Prince Andrew is getting sued for raping a girl sex slave"
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 12, 2021 1:59 AM |
Americans turn off people in a New York minute.
Look at former [bold]major DL fave Mia Farrow[/bold] on DL. A few revealing stories and she was over. This is how it works in America. This may happen to them and probably will.

r34 Prince Andrew is on the front cover of numerous british newspapers including what is thought to be the establishments favourite newspaper The Times. The national broadcaster the BBC is running heavily with the Prince Andrew story.Ditto Sky News.I think your deflection theory is wide off the mark.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 12, 2021 3:12 AM |
I believe Harry wanted to live in America and this was all very calculated from since before they got married. He was always a party boy and free spirit. I believe he will reveal as much in his book. But there is no reason for Americans to care about either of them. I'd never heard of Markle until she started dating Harry and he's just not that interesting. Delusions of Grandeur is what they both suffer from.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 12, 2021 3:46 AM |
Seems like they hire PR but don't listen to advice. I wonder if Sunshine Sachs will eventually drop them.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 12, 2021 3:50 AM |
Their PR pumped out all those stories about how they were the "rock stars" of the royal family. The public didn't believe a word of it but apparently these two clowns did.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 12, 2021 7:17 AM |
My impression is that they're not on many newsstand covers anymore here in the U.S. and it really doesn't impact sales. Why buy a magazine when you can go home and Google the headline? I think I recall seeing only cover and a small inset on a cover at the grocery checkout recently both about the new baby.
Isn't it the case that the UK society remains more of consumer of paper print editions? Newsstands and kiosks remain popular. I think a slow down in UK sales may be apparent just because you're more likely consumers.
Does anyone know if Tom Bowers book will be released before Harry's? I think that's going be the competing narrative to Harry's which will undoubtedly be a borderline sob story. These two books and any content the Harkles might release at the time is going to ultimately decide his popularity. Americans can be sympathetic to the point where "his truth" turns into rich, privileged boy whining. (I'm not counting Trumptards. I scarcely consider them Americans, let alone of the species. Plus, they don't read and wanna be just like their hero).

I think Harry really is Prince Andrew 2.0 in many ways. Spoilt, lazy, clueless... if he really did want out, if he found royal life so onerous... why take the titles? Why take any of the spoils? Because he wants his cake and to beat it, too. Spoilt, lazy, clueless. He's a shit. I'm glad he's saddled with that awful wife. Imagine what she's like to live with these days as her ambitions hit the wall every time? He doesn't need a comeuppance... he's living with it every day.
Probably moved in with the chickens just to get away from the henpecking.

After what five years of unrelenting Murdoch funded criticism (she touches her hair too much: REALLY) what would you expect. The Brits are just as gullible as the American Deplorables.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 15, 2021 12:02 AM |
Hasn't most of the criticism come from non Murdoch entities? The Sun trashes everyone and the Times started critical articles after Megxit. They aren't the only two publications in the UK.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 15, 2021 12:07 AM |
R48 I have never, ever seen a headline saying she “touches her hair too much”. Stop making shit up.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 15, 2021 12:21 AM |
r50, actually I could maybe believe that twaddle if it was the Express, or then again it would have to include a Diana reference. "Sweet way Meghan touches her hair all the time, just like Diana!"
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 15, 2021 2:44 AM |
But that wouldn’t be “criticism”, R51.
What I find so annoying about the whole “bullying media” narrative is that 95% of everything written in Britain about this bitch was glowingly, sychophantically positive.
It was only once her staggering arrogance, greed, sense of entitlement and rudeness became clear that the criticisms began. Idiots like R48 would rather forget that.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 15, 2021 3:02 AM |
I'm American, and have a bit of interest in the BRF because it is unlike anything I know in my life and experiences.
Now they live in California, just as countless celebrities have done for all of my life. There is nothing of interest for me, anymore.
They are just another ridiculously wealthy family who think they are more special than the rest of us. She's not a princess who lived an extraordinary life. She's a divorced, remarried, cheesy actress who managed to convince a prince she was something she's not.
It's boring. I'll tune back in if they get a divorce. They are not entitled to my rapt attention.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 15, 2021 3:11 AM |
I didn't pay any attention at first, I suppose I must have surfacely read the headlines about her, as ,at the time they married, I believed she was way too good for that dick for brains. I genuinely thought she would bolt when she realised what a nasty twat he was. It took the bananas for the prostitutes in Bristol to make me notice she was odd. Then it all followed on.
That day at Wimbledon when she was still on "maternity leave" ( what crap is that for women who aren't in paid work anyway?) and having a stand of people chucked out of their seats. I didn't even know rich/connected people could or would flex that much.Repulsive picturesof her and her 2 fat friends lapping up the entitlement .That made me sick. Then it all got worse.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 15, 2021 3:30 AM |
Murdoch only has five photos of them which he republishes daily. It must get old, even for the English.
