"Love My Way" - Psychedelic Furs

"Love My Way" by Psychedelic Furs is not usually mentioned alongside other gay-themed pop songs, still in heavy rotation decades after release.

Lead singer Richard Butler based the song on a lesbian friend and her girlfriend.

"It's basically addressed to people who are fucked up about their sexuality, and says 'Don't worry about it.' It was originally written for gay people."

The Ghost in You is my favorite Psychedelic Furs song

I thought I heard tell that the song addresses a (non-reciprocated) crush that another male musician had on the lead singer.

It is certainly a gay-oriented song.

It's one of my favorites, along with President Gas and The Ghost in You. Pretty in Pink is a nostalgia overload.

I love Alice's House.

This was very goth emo teenager catnip of my day - played this between the Cure, Depeche Mode and Siouxsie.....

The Furs never really had the break thru they needed or deserved. With “Heartbreak Beat”they tried a big, arena New Wave kind of like what Duran Duran was doing at the time. But Richard’s voice was always grittier and sounded better in darker contexts. They could have been more successful in a Cure type of vein rather than the teen idol crowd. That wasn’t going to happen.

The song of theirs that mentions Pretty in Pink.......so that wasn't written for the movie?

I liked "Love My Way" a lot, but the lyrics were unintelligible (except for "love my way"). I guess it could be about homosexual love.

I never investigated this group at all for some reason. I loved Love My Way tho.

LOVE The Furs, They’re touring this year. Richard Butler is such a cool, sweet guy - he had another band called Live Spit Love and his solo record is great, too, this is one of my favorite songs:

It was used very effectively in CMBYN to show us how awkward Armie Hammer looks when he's dancing.

"Am I Wrong" confused a lot of people released under Love Spit Love.

Probably would have been a bigger hit if it was on a Psych Furs record
