Does apple cider vinegar actually do anything helpful?

Or is it just snake oil?

Snake oil.

The whole "medicinal food" thing is bullshit. Our forebears ate healthy and mostly died young.

by Anonymousreply 1August 4, 2021 11:12 PM

R1 that's what I think! I went thru one whole bottle and *POOF* nuthin'!

I felt the same.

by Anonymousreply 2August 4, 2021 11:14 PM

He annoys the shit out of me. He is way too verbose.

by Anonymousreply 3August 4, 2021 11:30 PM

It makes you smell like vinegar.

by Anonymousreply 4August 5, 2021 12:00 AM

It's an antiseptic.

by Anonymousreply 5August 5, 2021 12:03 AM

It makes you smell like a douche.

by Anonymousreply 6August 5, 2021 12:09 AM

I started drinking ACV every morning and every night before bed since June and my belly has gotten flatter and my waist size has gone down 6". I think it does clean out my system, lower my blood sugar and insulin levels, and reduces hunger.

by Anonymousreply 7August 5, 2021 12:10 AM

R7 how much of it do you drink of it, one cup

by Anonymousreply 8August 5, 2021 12:12 AM

Sure, Jan.

R7, but have you changed anything in your diet or exercise?

Personally, I would take the supplemental form because the liquid is bad for your teeth.

by Anonymousreply 10August 5, 2021 12:13 AM

R8 ONE CUP?! No, you'll burn your esophagus. You're supposed to dilute two tablespoons in 8 oz of water.

by Anonymousreply 11August 5, 2021 12:14 AM

R8, I mix 2 tablespoons of ACV, and 1 or 2 teaspoons of lemon juice in 8 oz of water, and drink with a straw. You don't want that sloshing all over in your mouth because it'll eat away at your enamel.

by Anonymousreply 12August 5, 2021 12:18 AM

I put it on my vegetables before I steam them.

by Anonymousreply 13August 5, 2021 1:29 AM

I used it and still looked like Simply Sara. I think I have a cortisol issue.

by Anonymousreply 14August 5, 2021 1:35 AM

It works as a antimicrobial in shrimp!

Kermie asks me to douche with it--he says it makes his fingers smell like sweet and sour pork!

by Anonymousreply 16August 5, 2021 1:46 AM

For health reasons R13 or does it make them taste better?

by Anonymousreply 17August 5, 2021 1:47 AM

That youtube guy is douchey, but at the same time he's incredibly hot. He would look better if he re-styled his hair, though.

by Anonymousreply 18August 5, 2021 1:47 AM

Be very careful because as mentioned above I will permanently destroy your teeth.

by Anonymousreply 19August 5, 2021 1:49 AM

it. not I.

by Anonymousreply 20August 5, 2021 1:50 AM

Any acid is a antimicrobial.

by Anonymousreply 21August 5, 2021 1:50 AM

Will it cure my itch hole?

by Anonymousreply 22August 5, 2021 1:50 AM

Can I put it on my french fries?

by Anonymousreply 23August 5, 2021 1:55 AM

you can douche your mussies with it, dumbfucks.

by Anonymousreply 24August 5, 2021 2:06 AM

[quote]Can I put it on my french fries?

Malt vinegar is better

by Anonymousreply 25August 5, 2021 2:07 AM

Will it stop my asshole itch?

by Anonymousreply 26August 5, 2021 2:19 AM

It’s snake oil - the guy on the label Paul C Bragg was an early California / Hollywood “health guru” in the teens / 20s /30s; and his daughter joined him on the grift in the 50s. In the 90s I read a book they put out on fasting, and much of it was self-aggrandizing nonsense mixed in with obvious stuff like “go for hikes and get some sunshine & fresh air.” It was like a self-help version of “Day Of The Locust.”

The book mentions AC vinegar and had pictures and testimonials that were 60 years out of date 30 years ago. Bragg as been called a quack and a charlatan by medical professionals since the 30s. I read a bunch of early 20th cent health and weight training stuff back then and was amazed at how much of it was resurfacing as “New Age” breakthroughs.

There’s a sucker born every minute.

by Anonymousreply 27August 5, 2021 2:28 AM

I find it's the perfect vinegar to finish off my gumbo. Just the right kind of acid to pull all the flavors together.

by Anonymousreply 28August 5, 2021 2:34 AM

It’s great against flies. Quarter cup of that, and add some dish soap, and a half cup of water. Flies stay away

by Anonymousreply 29August 5, 2021 2:34 AM

I use it to catch fruit flies in my kitchen. I put some ACV in a small bowl, cover it with a layer of plastic wrap, secure the plastic wrap to the bowl with a rubber band, and poke holes in the plastic with a toothpick. The fruit flies go in the holes, but can’t come out.

Works great.

by Anonymousreply 30August 5, 2021 2:36 AM

I know it was a typo r19, but that had me laughing!

by Anonymousreply 31August 5, 2021 2:37 AM

R30, couldn't that work with anything you put in a small bowl and cover it? They won't get out no matter what you put in that bowl.

by Anonymousreply 32August 5, 2021 2:39 AM

Fine, 32, put a picture of Madonna in a small bowl and cover it. See how many fruit flies you catch.

by Anonymousreply 33August 5, 2021 2:43 AM

I was looking for non-medication means of lowering my borderline-high blood pressure. ACV comes up a lot, as well as cayenne pepper, dark chocolate, etc. Anyway, knowing you guys like to share recipes, I found this salad dressing recipe which is really good. Has my BP gone down? Yes. Was it because of the ACV or the fact that I was eating healthier salads? Jury's still out, but probably the latter.

Apple Cider Vinegar can kill warts on your feet!

by Anonymousreply 35August 5, 2021 3:29 AM

Apple Cider Vinegar turned me into a newt!!

by Anonymousreply 36August 5, 2021 3:37 AM

It gets rid of dandruff if you spray it mixed w/water on your hair.

by Anonymousreply 37August 5, 2021 4:17 AM

My mother suffered with rheumatoid arthritis. I remember reading somewhere that acv had anti-inflammatory properties, so I started drinking it hoping I wouldn't get arthritis later in my life.

Don't know how effective it is, but I like having it daily just as a general tonic. The old "apple a day" thing. I mix it with honey and hot water. Can't hurt, right?

I also use it on my feet regularly to keep toenail fungus at bay.

by Anonymousreply 38August 6, 2021 7:13 AM

Apple Cider Vinegar raped my mom!

by Anonymousreply 39August 6, 2021 7:18 AM

Marsha P. Johnson threw the first stone after drinking a glass of Apple Cider Vinegar.

by Anonymousreply 40August 6, 2021 7:26 AM

I don't know if it does anything but that guy has a fucking hot body - I'd have watched the video if he'd been topless in it.

by Anonymousreply 41August 6, 2021 8:12 AM

It is great in a salad dressing but it has no amazing impact on health.

by Anonymousreply 42August 6, 2021 9:34 AM

I used to take it in a pill form back in the 90's/2000's before it became "trendy". I feel like it did help with my appetite, I guess because of how it affects your blood sugar. I'm wary of people drinking "shots" of it though since it can potentially be harsh on your teeth.

by Anonymousreply 43August 6, 2021 11:24 AM

i was told by a doctor twenty years ago to drink it after meals as it helped with digestion.

by Anonymousreply 44August 6, 2021 11:56 AM

[quote]ONE CUP?! No, you'll burn your esophagus. You're supposed to dilute two tablespoons in 8 oz of water.

That still sounds like a lot.

I put a capful into a quart water bottle.

by Anonymousreply 45August 6, 2021 11:58 AM

[quote]Our forebears ate healthy and mostly died young.

They couldn't outrun the pterodactyls!

by Anonymousreply 46August 6, 2021 12:02 PM

Of course it works. Another tip is to make light bulbs last longer, store them in the freezer. Just before using, remove from the freezer and plunge them into boiling water.

by Anonymousreply 47August 6, 2021 12:08 PM

AC vinegar definitely helps settle my stomach.

by Anonymousreply 48August 6, 2021 12:48 PM

AC 360 definitely unsettles my worldview.

by Anonymousreply 49August 6, 2021 1:41 PM

The ancient Egyptians and Romans used it for it's antibacterial properties.

by Anonymousreply 50August 6, 2021 2:09 PM

Has anyone tried the Goli gummies?

by Anonymousreply 51August 6, 2021 2:21 PM

Some of you Eldergay Elmers need to get out more. The guy in the video has a hot body, but his face is very average.

by Anonymousreply 52August 6, 2021 2:23 PM

R51, yes. I feel like I was eating less but not sure if that was just a placebo effect. And they taste pretty good!
