All that money and not one bit of taste...

by Anonymousreply 1August 4, 2021 4:52 AM

Is that a faux Norman Castle? 🏰

by Anonymousreply 2August 4, 2021 4:58 AM

Bonus: Apparently Southlake has excellent schools. Except, perhaps, if you have a problem with overt racism.

Burn it down

by Anonymousreply 4August 4, 2021 5:05 AM

It's bad, of course, but except for the home theater, it isn't bad enough to be fun.

by Anonymousreply 5August 4, 2021 5:10 AM

'Game of Thrones' meet The Clampetts.

All those empty bookshelves that will never shelve books.

by Anonymousreply 6August 4, 2021 5:12 AM

The home theater is fabulous. It would be the perfect space for my one man show of Camelot. I play all the parts and accompany myself on a sulcimer.

some with many fine whores too!

by Anonymousreply 9August 4, 2021 5:30 AM

My favorite part is the automatic garage door over the swimming pool. WTF?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 10August 4, 2021 5:31 AM

It appears to be owned by Shane Langston.

I shall do a bit more research.

R13 Excellent work. I wanted to know and was too lazy to Nancy Drew it myself. I appreciate your sleuthing.

by Anonymousreply 14August 4, 2021 5:40 AM

His daughter was hit by a flying umbrella at Disneyland. So sad! She may never lead cheers again! I smell a lawsuit. Must have more knights in armor for the movie room!

She was not in enough pain as to be unable to pile on the makeup for her sympathy shoot. They probably hired a glam squad.

Mrs. Langston is a lawyer, too.

It is not a ril Russian oligarch palace

Where is the armed Militsiya?

Where are the drunk, hopeless peasants?

Where are the hackers who post on DL during the night?

by Anonymousreply 19August 4, 2021 5:58 AM

We admire the Langston family very much and have a great deal in common with them.

It’s hard to believe it’s not in Florida.

by Anonymousreply 21August 4, 2021 6:23 AM

I liked the grotto though.

That bitch daughter sure tarted up in that photo with the neck brace on.

by Anonymousreply 22August 4, 2021 6:25 AM

I love that there are no books in the library. Dust magnets.

by Anonymousreply 23August 4, 2021 6:27 AM

It's cohesive.

by Anonymousreply 24August 4, 2021 6:35 AM

Yes, PP, the automatic garage door in the 'grotto' LOL. So ugly!

What on earth is it's purpose? To keep out pigeons? To imprison unwitting guests? Surely a grating or portcullis would have been more visually appealing.

I'll now make my usual TF remark - as a European, 5 million would buy you a nice, well renovated, 4/5 bedroom villa in the West end of my city. What the hell is this palace made of that it only costs 5m, plywood and Styrofoam? Is it built next to a sinkhole?

by Anonymousreply 25August 4, 2021 7:27 AM

I'd install fifteen old homeless lesbians and see what happens.

I'm sure the grotto could be converted for an hydroponic grow. The garage door would release some of the skunk.

by Anonymousreply 26August 4, 2021 8:22 AM

There's this incredibly tacky restaurant called Casa Bonita in Denver and they have a ton of alcoves that look exactly like the one in this house, minus the random garage door.

by Anonymousreply 27August 4, 2021 10:16 AM

Southlake is the most generic/basic/ugly “wealthy” town I have ever seen. It is a basic bitch middle America Applebee’s delight of a town.

by Anonymousreply 28August 4, 2021 10:18 AM

[quote]She was not in enough pain as to be unable to pile on the makeup for her sympathy shoot.

It was her performance makeup, as the article said.

by Anonymousreply 29August 4, 2021 10:19 AM

It looks as though the owner bought everything from Toscano Designs.

by Anonymousreply 30August 4, 2021 10:41 AM

I would like to see it with the owners furniture not the staged crap in the photos, with all the dark woodwork I guess white was the only color that worked.

by Anonymousreply 31August 4, 2021 10:53 AM

This house is a personal injury.

by Anonymousreply 32August 4, 2021 11:12 AM

Broke? or getting divorced?

by Anonymousreply 33August 4, 2021 12:11 PM

They're moving up to a $10million dollar shithole - an Italianate Adobe Ranch.

by Anonymousreply 34August 4, 2021 4:33 PM

"Totally fit for royalty" erm.. NOT! When USA is trying hard to look like Middle Aged EuropeI have to say that it's VERY ridiculous. Really ridiculous.

There is a long and rich History behind European castles unlike American copycats. Ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 35August 4, 2021 4:53 PM

^ Plus, America don't have royalty.

by Anonymousreply 36August 4, 2021 4:54 PM

Built in 2010...; hahaha seriously!

by Anonymousreply 37August 4, 2021 4:56 PM

They sure spent a lot of money to make it look cheap and tacky.

by Anonymousreply 38August 4, 2021 5:02 PM

Even the most ordinary castle in Europe is twice the age of America.

by Anonymousreply 39August 4, 2021 5:08 PM

As we say in these threads... location, location, location. $5mil would buy a nice 3 bedroom, 1900sf rancher in Palo Alto.

by Anonymousreply 40August 4, 2021 5:08 PM

They appear to have a daughter Abby who is either dying or who recently died of leukemia. They are Democrats--at least the wife is. She has a Facebook picture of RBG that says "My inspiration." They masked and put up posts urging people to vote

They may have bad taste but they're not bad people.

by Anonymousreply 41August 4, 2021 5:13 PM

R41 Thank you for the balanced input. Can we still make fun of the neck brace glamour shot or is that the daughter who died?

by Anonymousreply 42August 4, 2021 6:14 PM

It's not my taste - and there's a lot that is distasteful - but it's not a complete horror show. It could be redone OK.

Why is it straight men always literally want to be the king of their castle?

Do they have any idea how this looks to other people? Oh - that's right, it's TEXAS.

by Anonymousreply 43August 4, 2021 6:18 PM

I would have sworn it was owned by an NBA player.

by Anonymousreply 44August 4, 2021 6:36 PM

They are both from Mississippi.

So we can’t blame Texas for this one.

by Anonymousreply 45August 4, 2021 6:38 PM

Having looked at tons of McMansion listings, my initial impression of the exterior shots was... well its not THAT bad -- the roof-lines aren't ridiculous, house is enormous but overall proportions aren't offensive, the stonework is decent, no stucco, bonus points for actually figuring out how to hide the garage... Then I saw the first interior shot. Boy-O-Boyardee!

Check out the white wall outlet behind the huge white urn in photo 8!!

by Anonymousreply 46August 4, 2021 6:38 PM

“Tasteful” is not a word used anywhere in the vicinity of Russian oligarchs.

by Anonymousreply 47August 4, 2021 6:48 PM

The inside is hideous. The outside would be so much less offensive it was old, and built with red brick rather than that orange brick.

by Anonymousreply 48August 4, 2021 9:23 PM

Is the wife the second wife? By the looks of it, it was designed by him.

by Anonymousreply 49August 4, 2021 9:33 PM

Inspired, no doubt, by visits to "Medieval Times". I seem to recall a huge one in the Market Center area of Dallas. It looks like a maintenance nightmare. I wonder if the ambulance chasing business has slowed down and made it difficult to keep up the place. The decor seems a bit "specific" for them to have a quick sale.

by Anonymousreply 50August 4, 2021 9:34 PM

Wow, it is like Super Size Me! McMansion. Tacky Dallas people and their tastes.

by Anonymousreply 51August 4, 2021 9:45 PM

I would never have lived in that monstrosity.

We've seen much worse on here. I actually like the outside. The inside isnt as garish as I thought it'd be,but several rooms do need to be redone. I just dont understand a small family needing such a huge house.

by Anonymousreply 54August 5, 2021 12:32 AM

Because Texas.

by Anonymousreply 55August 5, 2021 2:49 AM

Casa Bonita is real? @R27 South Park does it again

by Anonymousreply 56August 5, 2021 3:02 AM

LA ISLA… BONITA!

by Anonymousreply 57August 5, 2021 5:15 AM

Yeah, r56, I'd been there twice by the time I finally saw the "South Park" episode. They did a pretty good job portraying it, they only thing they missed was the food poisoning.

by Anonymousreply 58August 5, 2021 10:00 AM

Why do tacky new money hicks always put tapestries on the walls?

by Anonymousreply 59August 16, 2021 10:23 AM

How do people purposely cross the line into tacky?

by Anonymousreply 60August 16, 2021 10:37 AM

What's all this crap about Russia. That looks to me like late 19th century America's take on Victorian architecture. Home like this were built all around the country..

Looks like something a big lotto winner who formerly lived in a trailer park would build, and live in for only a few years until they'd spent every dollar they won in the lottery, and then had to move back to the trailer park.

The typical lottery win scenario for people who have no self control when they have some money.

by Anonymousreply 62August 16, 2021 11:08 AM

You know your life is totally out of control when you need ten toilets.
