Has anyone watched Greg Gutfeld's nighttime show on FOX?

He's supposed to be competing against all the late night hosts. I can't stand the guy so I don't want to watch but I'm curious if any DLer has seen his show.

by Anonymousreply 134December 18, 2021 3:47 AM

never heard of it outside dl

by Anonymousreply 1August 1, 2021 7:34 PM

Fox NEWS. Not on FOX 5

by Anonymousreply 2August 1, 2021 7:36 PM

If u can’t stand him, wtf would you even care????

Liar.

by Anonymousreply 3August 1, 2021 7:37 PM

I'm with R3. The expected weekend swarm of right wing trolls.

by Anonymousreply 4August 1, 2021 8:14 PM

R3 / R4 My apologies. I thought my question was innocent enough: Has anyone watched this show?

I'm not a liar or a 'troll.' I'm sorry you're so triggered by a simple question.

by Anonymousreply 5August 1, 2021 9:25 PM

I've seen it. It is pretty much the same as the weekend show he used to have or The Five.

by Anonymousreply 6August 2, 2021 12:47 AM

It’s the same exact thing as the Saturday night show he had.

by Anonymousreply 7August 2, 2021 12:51 AM

WTF would make you think anyone around here would WANT to watch a FOX show?

Fuck off Trumper Troll!

by Anonymousreply 8August 2, 2021 12:54 AM

I understand what OP is asking. Sometimes when I'm alone and CNN and MSNBC are doing boring segments, I switch to FOX for a few minutes just to see what happens. It's always worse than I thought and I end up feeling dirty. I have never see this particular show.

by Anonymousreply 9August 2, 2021 1:27 AM

The show has been a ratings bonanza for FOX. To say his guests are "eclectic" would be an understatement, but the unusual ensemble works. He is brutal to all liberals, but seems to save his biggest attacks for CNN stooges like Brian Stelter, Chris Cuomo and (too easy) Jeffrey Toobin. I always wondered why Trump didn't pick him to host the Washington Press dinner, he would have been hysterical.

by Anonymousreply 10August 2, 2021 1:36 AM

He is too smug of an asswipe for my taste. I hated him on the other FOX shoes too. There is something so wrong with these guys that have the in-your-face snotty, snappy cute smugness. They are just sooo overly amused with themselves.

by Anonymousreply 11August 2, 2021 2:09 AM

He and that Watters guy seem to be cut from the same cloth, R11.

by Anonymousreply 12August 2, 2021 3:04 PM

None of these guys even knows what they’re speaking about. And Watters just goes with it because he’s getting paid big numbers on FOX NEWS (stop saying “FOX” only) and has their highest rated show. Watters was raised in an extremely liberal home and his mother is still a starch liberal. I don’t believe he believes what he’s saying.

by Anonymousreply 13August 2, 2021 3:07 PM

Is his show like other fox news shows where they bring in phony liberals who don't actually defend democrats and let right wingers talk over them? Like those dumbasses Charles Lane and Kristin Powers or that useless pile of crap inebriate Bob Beckel?

by Anonymousreply 14August 2, 2021 3:31 PM

Juan very much defended Dems.

by Anonymousreply 15August 2, 2021 3:32 PM

R15 Juan Williams is the exception not the rule. The people I listed would say a perfunctory five words in defense of democrats then the rest of their time babbling on how about liberals are somehow to blame for whatever was going on.

by Anonymousreply 16August 2, 2021 3:36 PM

R14, Bob Beckel hasn't been on FOX in years. On The Five, Juan Williams just left (although he's still with the station). The token liberals include Geraldo Rivera, Marie Harf, Jessica Tarlov and some others. Greg and Jesse are hysterically vicious attacking Dems, but my favorite is Dagen McDowell, who can eviscerate with just one look.

by Anonymousreply 17August 2, 2021 3:37 PM

Dagen has no place in NYC. Jesse Watters is a born and bred liberal playing Conservative

by Anonymousreply 18August 2, 2021 3:40 PM

[quote]Watters was raised in an extremely liberal home and his mother is still a starch liberal.

R13 I know you meant "staunch" not starch.

[quote]Jesse Watters is a born and bred liberal playing Conservative

R18 If true, he should be ashamed of himself. Why would the douche play conservative and not claim his truth?

by Anonymousreply 19August 2, 2021 6:28 PM

I did not know this:

[quote] Fox News’ ‘Gutfeld!’ Finally Overtook Colbert’s ‘Late Show’ in Viewers Tuesday. Greg Gutfeld set out to beat other late-night hosts in the ratings and on Tuesday he finally won

[quote] Fox News’ 11 p.m. ET “Gutfeld!” finally beat every other late-night show — including Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” on CBS — Tuesday in total viewership and the advertiser-coveted age demographic of 25 to 54. When the right-leaning program debuted in April, host Greg Gutfeld and his promotional team made no secret of their ambition to overtake late-night rivals, but Colbert blocked him from the top spot.

[quote] On Tuesday night, “Gutfeld!” took in a total average of 2.120 million viewers, with 434,000 in the key demo, on average. The “Late Show,” which has an 11:35 p.m. ET start time on CBS, grabbed an average of 1.896 million total viewers of whom 423,000 were in the demo. Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” — an NBC program which also airs at 11:35 — came next with 1.216 million total viewers, on average, and 354,000 in the demo.

[quote] (It’s worth noting that “Gutfeld!” airs at 8 p.m. PT on the West Coast, and does not repeat at 11 p.m. when the broadcast networks’ late-night shows are on.)

Wow. No, I don't watch his show although I do watch Fox News (Bret Baier to be exact, sometimes Media Buzz). I don't care for him much, and I certainly do not watch his counterparts - Kimmel, Colbert, Trevor, or what's his face, the goofy one always laughing at his own jokes

by Anonymousreply 21August 21, 2021 3:55 PM

I'm really not sure about what this means since during the Olympics (2 full weeks) Colbert and Kimmel did NOT do new shows, and Fallon didn't even broadcast at all (NBC Olympics).

September and October, not off-season, will be a better indicator of which show is doing the best.

by Anonymousreply 22August 21, 2021 4:06 PM

A lot of people have watched it judging by the ratings. He's had quite a few gay guests on, like Chadwick Moore, a former OUT Magazine journalist.

by Anonymousreply 24August 21, 2021 5:27 PM

If I can bear it, I’ll watch part of Special Report, hosted by Bret Baier, just so I can see what the Republicans game plan is. Obama never spoke truer words than when he said that Fox News wasn’t a journalistic enterprise, but a political organization. And to those on the right who think that MSNBC is the equivalent of Fox in its partisanship, I offer up the former’s coverage of the current goings-on in Afghanistan as rebuttal evidence. Try to imagine Fox, which flipped on a dime to carry Trump’s water, subjecting Trump to the kind of harsh coverage MSNBC has given Biden of late.

by Anonymousreply 30August 27, 2021 5:46 PM

MSNBC is run by Republicans, too. And they have a Republican show, Morning Joe. It's not equivalent to Fox at all.

Facts do, indeed, have a liberal bias.

by Anonymousreply 31August 27, 2021 6:53 PM

MSNBC is honest.

CNN and Fox News are both extremists at times

by Anonymousreply 32August 27, 2021 7:06 PM

Is this a news show? I thought fox was a news station. Is it like Colbert, Kimmel, Trevor supposed to be funny?

by Anonymousreply 33August 27, 2021 8:05 PM

It's "supposed" to be funny, and for mean-spirited conversatives it may be funny. But to everyone else it's usually stupid and cruel humor that just perpetuates propaganda from the RNC.

by Anonymousreply 34August 27, 2021 8:41 PM

Conservatives have problems with humor because their jokes come from a place of deep malice. They don't seem to grasp the line at which teasing becomes cruel , ugly and uncomfortable for the people watching. Some sketch comedian from snl ( can't remember who) said years ago that the key to a funny impersonation is having some empathy for the character.

by Anonymousreply 35August 27, 2021 8:47 PM

r35 that's exactly it - conservative humor makes people uncomfortable because it's malicious, not humor. It's only funny to the weird bully in school who tortured small animals for fun.

by Anonymousreply 36August 27, 2021 8:52 PM

Whenever I switch over to Fox news they're showing a catheter commercial.

by Anonymousreply 37August 27, 2021 8:53 PM

^ because most of their audience is geriatric.

by Anonymousreply 38August 27, 2021 8:55 PM

R38 actually no. A lot of young white people watch Faux News.

by Anonymousreply 39August 27, 2021 8:58 PM

r39 actually yes. The median age of Fox viewers is 68.

by Anonymousreply 40August 27, 2021 8:59 PM

Dagen has a head shaped like a Jordan almond.

by Anonymousreply 41August 27, 2021 9:03 PM

I hate Dagen.

by Anonymousreply 42August 27, 2021 9:04 PM

Odd factoid: Greg Gutfeld went to Berkeley and was a Mens' Magazine editor in the US and UK for 15 years before he went to Fox.

"I became a conservative by being around liberals (at UC – Berkeley), and I became a libertarian by being around conservatives. You realize that there's something distinctly in common between the two groups, the left and the right; the worst part of each of them is the moralizing."

Gutfeld is an ugly name.

It needs to be changed.

by Anonymousreply 44August 27, 2021 9:34 PM

Chadwick is a lame name but he's a white English guy. When I saw that thread about Chadwick Boseman this morning my mind thought " what black mama names her black son CHADWICK?".

He seems manic on screen and I wonder how much of what he says it just publicity-seeking clickbait.

by Anonymousreply 48August 28, 2021 3:48 AM

I hate to admit it but I find his "sidekicks" interesting. Kat is funny sometimes and has unusual points of view. Tyrus also can be quite interesting. I think they are both liberterians (at least she is) so they don't hold the usual Fox views. Greg is too but he falls more in line with standard Fox stuff although I've heard Trump mention that it took Gutfeld too long to come to his side. He says he only did it for the anarchy of the situation.

by Anonymousreply 49August 28, 2021 4:41 AM

The world is shifting and maybe the old stereotype that conservatives can’t do humor, and that this gay kid has found an ideological home on far right is food for thought. Maybe I should give Fox a look and give the GOP consideration at election time. Who knows, right wing might be right for me.

by Anonymousreply 50August 28, 2021 5:19 AM

R50, you sound dumber than a box of rocks.

by Anonymousreply 51August 28, 2021 5:48 AM

R51 you sound like someone unused to polite conversation.

by Anonymousreply 52August 28, 2021 5:53 AM

R35, that’s why I stopped watching SNL. When the cast demanded to be given a week off instead of having to communicate with a conservative when Elon Musk hosted, I washed my hands of it. You can’t pretend to do satire if you literally refuse to have any communication with the other side.

by Anonymousreply 53August 28, 2021 6:13 AM

[quote]conservatives have problems with humor because their jokes come from a place of deep malice.

I think that is true of most comedians think David Letterman, Joan Rivers, deeply angry people.

by Anonymousreply 54August 28, 2021 6:16 AM

I don't do polite with right-wing fascist wannabes, R52.

by Anonymousreply 55August 28, 2021 9:10 AM

I see the conservatives / libertarian trolls have shown up in the thread. You should actually watch Gutfeld! before you defend it.

And FYI, Elon Musk is a pretentious gasbag defended by weird nerds. He's a shyster, a huckster, a flimflam artist. He's the libertarian sociopath version of Trump. His promotion on SNL was compared to Trump's appearance on SNL because it was amplifying cruel and horrible people.

So of course THAT would be what caused you to daintily "wash your hands" of SNL, a show you probably didn't even watch.

by Anonymousreply 56August 28, 2021 12:56 PM

Who has actually watched a full SNL wo. surfing for something better @ the same time? It's been Boring & unfunny for years. Even most of the music sucks.

As opposed to the liberal / progressive trolls who are CONSTANTLY on here?

by Anonymousreply 59August 28, 2021 1:59 PM

Conservatives aren't funny because they always punch down.

Liberals and progressive aren't trolls. They're the voice of reason against the Nazi GOP and Qanon lunatics.

by Anonymousreply 60August 28, 2021 2:03 PM

I am constitutionally incapable of watching anything on Fox News.

by Anonymousreply 61August 28, 2021 2:11 PM

R59 facts have a liberal bias.

R69 It's not them "punching down" it's that they aren't funny, are delivered by sociopaths and the spiritual twin of the nasty kid who never bathed and was caught masturbating in the janitor's closet at school

by Anonymousreply 62August 28, 2021 2:15 PM

R59 we aren't trolls, we are, in fact, the primary population of this site. Conservatives love to invade places that aren't wanted and then whine about being made fun of and excluded because it feeds into their constant victimization narrative, without which they would turn to dust

by Anonymousreply 63August 28, 2021 2:17 PM

R65 Oh, have you polled everyone to determine that, you fetid cunt?

by Anonymousreply 67August 28, 2021 2:53 PM

I've never seen the Gutfield show. When I had cable, every so often I would venture over to FOX News to step outside of the so-called liberal bubble the media says liberals are stuck in.

I tried to be open-minded and hear what the other side has to stay. Let me tell you, I could only stomach that shit in very small doses.

Between the lies, the omissions, the manipulation of facts to suit their agenda. It's all just so gross and like R9, I always felt dirty and had to change the channel.

I n the last 20 months alone, that channel is responsible for so much death and misinformation. I sincerely wonder if half the people who work there even believe the shit they spew.

by Anonymousreply 68August 28, 2021 2:56 PM

Of course they don't, r68. For example, *every* last one is vaccinated.

by Anonymousreply 69August 28, 2021 3:01 PM

R67 - It's common sense. Just like the phrase, "Nobody would ever fuck you, R65/R67, with getting paid first." Oh, and dear, stop liking your own posts. It's tacky.

by Anonymousreply 70August 28, 2021 3:14 PM

R64, that's true. I suggest checking the rubbish bins for the rotting remains of whatever you had for a mind.

by Anonymousreply 71August 28, 2021 4:23 PM

I remember a Fox News talkshow hosted by Gutfeld years ago in the wee hours of the morning, 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. I'd catch it once in awhile and it wasn't bad. Wasn't great but it wasn't bad. He had a panel of three that never changed - can't remember any of them - and then a political guest. I was wondering if his current show was cut from the same cloth.

by Anonymousreply 72August 28, 2021 4:32 PM

That was Red Eye, R72, and yes, it's basically the same show, except they sit in chairs instead of behind a table.

by Anonymousreply 73August 28, 2021 4:36 PM

Haven't seen it or him or much Fox for that matter. Is he funny? Is the show funny? Ironic? Gather it isn't news.

by Anonymousreply 74August 28, 2021 4:40 PM

Red Eye was exhaustingly awful. If smugness and arrogance were worth pennies a pound they would have all been rich.

by Anonymousreply 75August 28, 2021 4:54 PM

[quote] that's true. I suggest checking the rubbish bins for the rotting remains of whatever you had for a mind.

So clever, you! Are there any other bon mots you wish to steal by way of repurposing?

by Anonymousreply 76August 28, 2021 4:58 PM

R66 No, just a typo, but I can tell you're "special" so you probably really did think it meant something else.

by Anonymousreply 77August 28, 2021 11:06 PM

Greg is much better on The Five. His repartee with Jesse Watters is hilarious. Occasional panelist Dagen McDowell can be Lady MacBeth , but pity the poor liberal who tangles with her.

by Anonymousreply 78August 29, 2021 12:00 AM

R78 you’re on the wrong site

by Anonymousreply 79August 29, 2021 12:02 AM

by Anonymousreply 80August 29, 2021 12:12 AM

by Anonymousreply 81August 29, 2021 12:21 AM

Jesse is a moron.

by Anonymousreply 84August 29, 2021 3:28 AM

I watched Gutfeld once to check it out. Awful and unfunny garbage for reasons mentioned here over and over. The humor is mean and vile and ugly, and I cannot listen to it let alone laugh at it.

Secretly watching while munching nachos. Never attributed being thin skinned to any political persuasion. I'll leave those sweeping, gross generalizations to you. Easier to paint others w. a broad brush than to be openminded & explore.

"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation." by Anonymousreply 108August 30, 2021 5:31 PM

R103 seems triggered. There is no such thing as conservative humor

by Anonymousreply 114August 31, 2021 1:37 AM

Maybe if the show is so popular, they will hire actual, talented comedy writers. It's uniformly bad. Take this example where they make fun of Jen Psaki. You actually should be able to do a funny take on "Jen after hours" and all her "Let me circle back" talk. But instead, they put some actress in a bad red wig, and then they think they're done, no funny writing required. Just look for other Gutfeld! shows on Youtube and try to find a funny opening monologue by Gutfeld. Not currently possible.

Because video at R115. That's so broken.

by Anonymousreply 118August 31, 2021 2:07 AM

You just don't get the humor, R115. The "actress in a bad red wig" was Kat Timpf, one of his cohosts, which is part of the joke, along with the low-budget video production.

by Anonymousreply 119August 31, 2021 2:36 AM

R115 you can't convince the brainwashed, they will make all the excuses in the world to keep their worldview intact.

by Anonymousreply 120August 31, 2021 3:47 AM

Thanks R 115 for that link & clip. Never watched Gutfeld, but that clip you posted made me laugh. So, I will check him out tonite. I'm a shameless, greedy slut when it comes to humor. It you can make me laugh, I'll go there. Don't care about people's looks, history or politics, like I said I'm a slut when it comes to humor.

Just a little side bar.. Taliban just killed a musician. Why? Music is banned. They are now hunting other the satan spawn infidels who dare to make music. Sport will be next. And then humor, so not to worry R 115, you'll fit right in

I don't think you understand my point. If the Taliban goes around killing everyone for the crime of being humorous and having a humorous show, then they won't harm a hair on Greg Gutfeld's head. Your boy is completely safe.

by Anonymousreply 122August 31, 2021 10:33 PM

If you need to explain your jokes, then you should be safe too.

by Anonymousreply 123August 31, 2021 10:39 PM

Will watch him & get back to you on that one. The vid you posted on the link was hilarious

by Anonymousreply 124August 31, 2021 10:39 PM

R121 you sound like you needed a lot of convincing to watch a right wing Daily Show spoof on a propaganda network. Well, at least until your last few sentences when you revealed yourself to be a right wing tool.

by Anonymousreply 125September 1, 2021 5:01 PM

OOhh smell you, such a critic. When is the last time you laughed? Watch out might crack your face.

by Anonymousreply 126September 2, 2021 3:36 AM

Tonight was really funny. I actually laughed.

by Anonymousreply 127October 21, 2021 7:01 AM

OMG, how sad that you bumped this thread, R127.

I bet you like that Applebee's commercial.

by Anonymousreply 128October 21, 2021 7:22 AM

How sad you comment on a subject that you have no interest in.. Go back to the trans-topics, you troll.

by Anonymousreply 129October 21, 2021 7:41 AM

Oh, yes. DL is a place where people only ever comment on topics where they have an interest. You have shit taste in comedy. Clearly.

by Anonymousreply 130October 21, 2021 7:42 AM

Bloody hell

by Anonymousreply 131October 21, 2021 7:46 AM

TL;DR. This is why I’ve always contended that LIBS/DEMS/DUMS (whatever) do not have the same approach to work as the CONS do. It’s just a hunch, but CONS work HARDER! CNN and MSNBC do no offer live content/live commentary because everyone wants to take the weekends off, co these channels show specials and Dateline as filler. However, the weekend is when viewers can sit back and actually ingest so-called “news tv”.

BUT, Rachel Maddow, Anderson, Lemon, Cuomo, etc. have weekends off and this is where Guttfields’ whimsy ass starts feeding the Cons lies!

by Anonymousreply 132October 21, 2021 10:06 AM

I'm watching it now. Greg is hilarious and the panel is great. I'll take this any day over the late night hosts on the other channels.

by Anonymousreply 133December 18, 2021 3:38 AM

He's not funny. Ever. Greg Gutfield makes the Babylon Bee look like the sex scene from The Bronze. A dog with bone cancer is funnier than Greg Gutfield.
