I grew out my hair during lockdown and didn't cut it for 18 months. It went well past my shoulders. I am someone who showers every day and washes my hair every day, but I was finding with longer hair, it was getting tangled a lot when I washed it and I was yanking it out trying to brush it after washing, so I went to every other day, and now I wash my hair twice a week. I put a shower cap on when take a shower and make sure to clean behind my ears when I get out of the shower because they're covered.

Surprisingly, my hair does not feel dirty or gross, and I work out five days a week at home. I thought it would be awful, but it's not. Now I live in a super dry climate, so I don't know how it would be if I lived in humidity. But I could never see not showering daily if I'm out and about. Staying home, maybe I'll skip a day now and then, but I don't like to. And with my current exercise schedule, there's no way I will.

There's really is a joke in the Black community about white people's hygiene. It's a stereotype obviously. But growing up Black, my mom made me bathe every night and would not let me leave the house unless I looked well-groomed and had no B.O.. If I had to go another day without water I would have gone to stay with friends.

I normally shower 2x a day. A thorough scrubbing at night and a quick rinse in the morning. I had my quick rinse on Saturday morning and then did a 14 mile hike. I was covered in sunscreen and bug spray. It got very hot and humid and I was sweating a lot. I couldn’t shower Saturday night and washed up. Played golf on Sunday, more sunscreen, bug spray and sweat. Plumber came Monday but needed a part that he couldn’t get until today.

I am now sparkling clean and feel 100% better. I suppose if you sit around inside all day there is no need to take a shower every day but you should find ways to be more physically active.

It is true that washing your hair daily isn't good for it and actually makes it more oily because the glands try to make up for it. Once your body adjusts, your hair stops smelling and things reach an equilibrium.

I prefer to shower before bed. One, I have more time than in the morning trying to get to work. Two, I don’t like going to bed feeling dirty. This is especially true if it’s a day I’ve washed my linen. Clean sheets + dirty me = yuck.

I always took a shower every day before I moved to Florida. But after I came here, I found I had to shower in the morning AND at night, and sometimes in the middle of the day as well, say, if I had been working in the yard. Gradually, my body became acclimated to the heat and humidity and I was able to go back to showering once a day in the AM.

But once I hit my 50s, my skin started to dry out -- and now, in my 60s, I only shower every other day. If I work out in the yard, I wash my face and neck and hands and that seems to suffice.

In my experience, your body adapts and changes to circumstances and over time. Chances are good that, if I moved to Alaska tomorrow, I'd only bathe once a week -- and that under duress.

I am four years older than Kutcher. When That 70s Show started, I thought he was "hot." I'm not sure when I changed my mind, but I think it wasn't very long after. We’ve evolved since then, now we have better access to water and cleaning agents, at least those of us lucky enough to live in 1st world countries.

There are basic baby hair and body wash products that are gentle and cheap R217. And you don’t need very hot water.
