The people saying that "the networks" should've shown these hearings during "primetime" seem a tad out of touch. The overwhelming majority of people under 50 don't watch over-the-air or even cable television, and they're not really watching anything "live" from their TV sets; they're streaming from other devices at their own schedule and convenience. "Primetime" is also a pretty archaic concept in this era of ubiquitous screens, streaming everything, and balancing life and work all from home.

Showing these hearings at night on the traditional broadcast networks would only have the effect of pissing off a LOT of people who expect to settle into their couch at 8pm for an evening of spoon-fed mass-marketed corporate entertainment, a demographic that already skews heavily older and more deplorable than the public at large.

I've thought about this and come to a sad conclusion. The people I know who watch Fux know that they are hard working, good people (and some of them that I know personally basically have potential to be good people) but they are CONSUMED by resentment.
