***House Hearing on January 6 Insurrection: Day 1***

A thread on the hearings by request.

by Anonymousreply 359June 10, 2022 9:16 PM

Is that supposed to be funny R1 ?

by Anonymousreply 2July 27, 2021 3:23 PM

The opening statements by the four officers, each in their own way, were very powerful.

by Anonymousreply 3July 27, 2021 3:23 PM

The single word "terrorist" has today taken on a new and powerful meaning.

by Anonymousreply 4July 27, 2021 3:25 PM

Okay - just now tuning into this thread. How long have the hearings been going on? What have I missed?

Sorry & Thank you!

by Anonymousreply 5July 27, 2021 3:25 PM

What did Liz say, R3?

by Anonymousreply 6July 27, 2021 3:26 PM

I didn't realize that Hodges was the officer who gets crushed against the door by the TERRORISTS.

by Anonymousreply 7July 27, 2021 3:27 PM

You've missed the 4 officers testifying. Hodges was the best.

by Anonymousreply 8July 27, 2021 3:27 PM

I just wanted to hug Officer Hodges while he was testifying…I suspect that others felt the same.

by Anonymousreply 12July 27, 2021 3:37 PM

Get 'em, Miss K!

by Anonymousreply 13July 27, 2021 3:38 PM

Adam Kinzinger is sobbing uncontrollably. I'm embarrassed for him, kinda. Mostly for his Muppet lips.

by Anonymousreply 14July 27, 2021 3:39 PM

Adam is crying and making me cry. 😪

by Anonymousreply 15July 27, 2021 3:39 PM

Me too R15. Me too.

by Anonymousreply 16July 27, 2021 3:41 PM

Adam is hot when he cries.

by Anonymousreply 17July 27, 2021 3:41 PM

They need to find out why the Capitol cops didn't have immense backup.

by Anonymousreply 18July 27, 2021 3:42 PM

Can someone ask R1 if they're fucking serious?

Kinzinger nails the difference between summer of 2020 and January 6th:

"There is a difference between breaking the law and rejecting the rule of law."

by Anonymousreply 21July 27, 2021 3:43 PM

Kinzinger needs to lay off the corn dogs and Miller High Life’s.

by Anonymousreply 22July 27, 2021 3:45 PM

F&F the asshat R1, and give that piece of shit no more attention.

by Anonymousreply 23July 27, 2021 3:46 PM

Thanks R20

by Anonymousreply 24July 27, 2021 3:46 PM

Fox News will ridicule Kizinger for getting emotional.

by Anonymousreply 25July 27, 2021 3:48 PM

Schiff’s up. Here we go!

by Anonymousreply 26July 27, 2021 3:49 PM

I’m understanding R1 to mean that the MAGATs in the pic are ‘Sisters in Hate’ and the above text is their twisted thought process regarding race & citizenship.

by Anonymousreply 27July 27, 2021 3:50 PM

R27, pretty much all of r1’s post history is anti-MAGA so I think you’re right. You can never tell for sure, though.

by Anonymousreply 28July 27, 2021 3:52 PM

Kinzinger and Cheney are to be commended for their participation and, so far, impressive questioning. Irrational repug heads around the country must be exploding in anger; an outsized orange one in New Jersey in particular.

by Anonymousreply 29July 27, 2021 3:53 PM

Only ABC is showing this among the three major networks, Fox News is also showing it to their credit and I almost never give Fox News any credit, OAN is not carrying it either.

by Anonymousreply 30July 27, 2021 3:54 PM

The officers testimony is powerful.

by Anonymousreply 31July 27, 2021 3:55 PM

by Anonymousreply 32July 27, 2021 3:55 PM

by Anonymousreply 42July 27, 2021 4:01 PM

Is DL heart throb muscle hunk Eric Swallwell participating?

by Anonymousreply 43July 27, 2021 4:02 PM

Schiff got weepy, too. It’s “white men get emotional day” in the House.

by Anonymousreply 44July 27, 2021 4:02 PM

It is hilarious that the GQP wants to try and blame Nancy Pelosi, but not Mitch McConnell they both have equal responsibility for overseeing the Capitol police. To say nothing of the GQP not wanting to blame Trump at all.

by Anonymousreply 45July 27, 2021 4:03 PM

Does anybody think that Daniel Hodges could be family?

by Anonymousreply 46July 27, 2021 4:04 PM

This is going to be a love fest because there’s no Jim Jordan or Boebert or Greene to turn it into a circus. I’m okay with that. A civil hearing wound be a nice change.

by Anonymousreply 47July 27, 2021 4:06 PM

Does anyone know where Sgt Gonell is originally from? I find his testimony from an immigrant’s point of view incredibly compelling.

Subpoena trump and McCarthy!

by Anonymousreply 52July 27, 2021 4:12 PM
Does anyone know where Sgt Gonell is originally from?

He said the Dominican Republic

by Anonymousreply 53July 27, 2021 4:13 PM

Lots of manly emotional tears today. When Sgt Gonell made his statement and started to cry, I was certain there would be criticism of him but as the other officers testified and every one of them became emotional, it was very moving. And then as the committee started their questioning, it was amazing to see some of them come to tears.

This testimony is enlightening and the videos are frightening. Trump and his Repugs need to answer for this.

by Anonymousreply 54July 27, 2021 4:14 PM

I would relish it if someone were able to establish that Clyde had seen the Hodges video or any other footage before making that preposterous statement, R59.

by Anonymousreply 70July 27, 2021 4:29 PM

I hope the Lincoln Project and/or the DNC prepares 30-second ads next year before the midterms, showing clips of the violence, then a close up on the officers’ faces while we hear them say this was hand-to-hand combat and then quick cuts to Rep. Clyde’s “nothing to see hear, this was just a normal tourist gathering.” Democracy is still at risk so we absolutely cannot lose the house or senate.

by Anonymousreply 71July 27, 2021 4:30 PM

by Anonymousreply 78July 27, 2021 4:37 PM

Officer Fanone must have made an excellent undercover officer. The ink, his demeanor and tenor suggest anything but law enforcement. Glad he's on the side of Democracy.

by Anonymousreply 79July 27, 2021 4:37 PM

“Republican Liar Andrew Clyde, representative to Georgia, continues to claim the terrorists that stormed our nation’s Capitol on January 6 were indulging in a normal tourist visit.

This, of course, flies in the face of all reason as there is photographic evidence of Liar Clyde helping to barricade the House chamber door as rioters attempted to disrupt the joint session of Congress to certify the Electoral College vote on January 6, 2021.

A likely co-conspirator with Capitol insurrectionists, Republican Liar Clyde has declined to comment at this time, thereby establishing he is of sound mind, eliminating any credible attempt to claim insanity when called to answer for his crimes of sedition.

We’ll be right back with up-to-the-minute-coverage of the House hearings right after these messages.”

by Anonymousreply 88July 27, 2021 4:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 89July 27, 2021 4:54 PM

by Anonymousreply 95July 27, 2021 5:07 PM

The main thing I took from the hearing is Kinzinger can look hot one moment and downright plain the next.

That's about it.

by Anonymousreply 96July 27, 2021 5:07 PM

I feel bad for you if that is all you took from it

by Anonymousreply 98July 27, 2021 5:09 PM

You seem like a real deep thinker, R96.

by Anonymousreply 99July 27, 2021 5:09 PM

Let's just cut to the chase here, can we?

Trump not only knew about this whole affair, he organized it from top to bottom. He enlisted the support of congressional dirtball scumbag Trumpsters like Matt Gaetz and Kevin McCarthy to make sure it played out correctly. Of course, when you get three dipshits like Trump, Gaetz and McCarthy to do something, nothing ever works out as planned.

The reason the Repukes are deathly afraid of this panel is because they were all either (A) knew of it and/or (B) actively participated in it.

by Anonymousreply 100July 27, 2021 5:10 PM

r100, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad FUBAR Junta!

by Anonymousreply 102July 27, 2021 5:17 PM

Anyone care to speculate on the nightmare line of questioning Jimpanzee might have presented?

"Who told you it was bear spray?Have you ever used bear spray against a bear?Did the bear whine and drag you into court?Have you ever wrestled a bear?I'm asking and answering the questions here!"

by Anonymousreply 103July 27, 2021 5:21 PM

They better haul the former Defense Secretary's ass in front of the cameras. Don't give us national security bs, because if they play that card, Nancy needs to take a walk to daddy, Biden's house and get him to waive that bullshit. Why did it take hours to deply the National Guard while Congress was under attack? Wh decided to make that call?

Call up Jared Kushner, ask him why the President didn't issue an order to deploy the Guard. Then call up the person responsible to hear their POV. Next, lets get the fat bastard in there to hear his rambling point of view.

by Anonymousreply 104July 27, 2021 5:23 PM

I'm SO glad those parasitic clowns weren't allowed on the committee

by Anonymousreply 105July 27, 2021 5:23 PM

I hope their investigation goes deep and looks at who was backing those transporting these people into the Capitol, offering free hotels, transportation, etc. But I realize there are bigger fish to fry right now.

by Anonymousreply 106July 27, 2021 5:26 PM

When is the next hearing and who will be questioned?

by Anonymousreply 107July 27, 2021 5:27 PM

🇺🇸 These Officers are the best part of this nation.

by Anonymousreply 108July 27, 2021 5:33 PM

I think it's important to hear these stories, but it also depresses me because like the impeachment hearings, it changes nothing. If you are a Trump supporter at this point, there is nothing that anyone can say or do to change your mind & you will justify any behavior while bitching about Mean Old Nancy.

As someone else noted, the real story is who financed these morons to come to DC (Ginny Thomas?) & while most of the people in the crowd were MAGA morons, there were also well-trained military personnel with real intent. Who organized them & got them there (Eric Prince). I don't think we'll get answers to any of those questions, at least in the short term.

by Anonymousreply 109July 27, 2021 5:45 PM

I’d like to “know” the answers to those questions too, R104.

My suspicion is that there was a conflict at the highest levels of the guard/military.

As the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs opined, Trump, channeling Hitler, wanted the members of Congress who wouldn’t crown him Prez, killed. If the military had been called up, and consequently placed under Trump’s immediate command, some number of might have helped the mob rid the legislative chambers of “traitors.”

Once Congress was usurped, there would be no one or thing to prevent Trump from “temporarily” staying on as President until “all this mess got straightened out”.

by Anonymousreply 110July 27, 2021 5:48 PM

I'm glad this hearing is happening. Out of all the shitty things that happened in the last couple of years, this Capitol incident stands out for me.

We have to keep chipping away at the stone. Can't give up on taking people to task.

by Anonymousreply 111July 27, 2021 5:53 PM
I will bet Officer Fanone will be on Don Lemon's show tonight as they have become quite good friends.

Wasn't Fanone the one whose wife said he voted for Trump?. I think she was the one knocking on GQP doors to talk to them around the time the independent commission was being discussed but Kevin McC and the rest of the traitors in Congress ran away from meeting her. Let's hope there are some lessons learned there.

In the testimony of the black officer it came out he voted for Biden (he was recounting an exchange he had with insurrectionists).

Trump couldn't even beat Hillary with the popular vote no matter what that stupid, orange fuck tells himself. Normal people HATE him and were embarrassed such a stupid, stupid, low-life became president.

These cops are going to have PTSD for the rest of their lives because of this. Even if they DID vote for the orange traitor, they have now become painfully aware of what sort of person he is.

I'm very glad it's being shown on C-SPAN in its entirety. Every last rethug should be forced to watch it. Apparently aware enough to have you on "ignore."

by Anonymousreply 130July 27, 2021 7:20 PM

Will Ofc. Goodman be testifying? They have to be saving him for another day.

by Anonymousreply 131July 27, 2021 7:29 PM

The highlight for me was when Officer Dunn said,

"Everything is different, but nothing has changed. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are being lauded as courageous heroes and while I agree with that notion, why? Because they told the truth? Why is telling the truth hard? I guess in this America it is. Us four officers, we would do January 6th all over again. We wouldn't stay home because we knew it was going to happen. We would show up. That's courageous. That's heroic.

What I ask from you all is to get to the bottom of what happened, and that includes, like I echoed the sentiments of the other officers sitting here, I use an analogy . . .

If a hit man is hired and kills somebody, the hit man goes to jail. But not only does the hit man go to jail, but the person who hires them does. There was an attack carried out on January 6th, and a hitman sent them. I want you to get to the bottom of that. Thank you.

by Anonymousreply 133July 27, 2021 7:47 PM

I agree r132 that was powerful. But he made a mistake at the end. The hit man did not send them, they were the hit men. Trump sent the hit men. Trump us not the hit men. And now Trumpisthehitman is tending on Twitter.

by Anonymousreply 134July 27, 2021 7:48 PM

May their testimony ruin those deserving of it.

Every. Last. One.

by Anonymousreply 135July 27, 2021 7:53 PM

True, R134, he made an error in speech but the meaning was very clear. Get the man who hired the hitmen.

Another thing I admired about the hearing was the diversity of the police witnesses. They are the true Americans here. They reflect the diverse ethnicity of this nation, especially the immigrant Officer Gonell, who fought in Iraq before going to law enforcement.

Trump's America dismisses, diminishes,, disrespects these people, officers and public alike, and that's in part why they are in such pain. One minute the GOP lauds and applauds law enforcement and the next tosses them aside when they do not support the lies.

by Anonymousreply 136July 27, 2021 7:56 PM

It’s going to be tough for GOP cowards to downplay these guy’s testimony today. That’s why they trotted out that stupid cunt to talk about Pelosi.

by Anonymousreply 137July 27, 2021 7:58 PM

Trump doesn't do the "wet work." He's a bitch who hides and lets others do his bidding.

Ginni Thomas, Wife of Clarence, Cheered On the Rally That Turned Into the Capitol Riot “GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU STANDING UP or PRAYING!”

On Wednesday morning, Ginni Thomas—wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas—endorsed the rally in Washington demanding that Congress overturn the election. She then sent her “LOVE” to the demonstrators, who violently overtook the Capitol several hours later. Two days later, Thomas amended her post with the addendum: “[Note: written before violence in US Capitol].” By that point, five people involved in the insurrection, including a Capitol Police officer, had died.

On her Facebook page, she frequently promotes baseless conspiracy theories about a “coup” against Trump led by Jewish philanthropist George Soros, a frequent target of anti-Semitic hate. Thomas draws many of these theories from fringe corners of the internet, including an anti-vax Facebook group that claimed Bill Gates would use the COVID vaccine to kill people. In recent months, she also amplified unsubstantiated corruption claims against Joe Biden while insisting, falsely, that the Obama administration illegally spied on Trump’s 2016 campaign, then tried to rig the election against him.

R146, IMO, the purpose of the hearings is to investigate (fact-find) what exactly happened at the Capitol that day.

by Anonymousreply 168July 27, 2021 9:43 PM

That Cunt Thomas, is one who paid for a bus and hotel rooms for those terrorists. I sure hope that comes out and her prick husband is quietly told to retire from SCOTUS by the end of this year.

That vile cunt needs to be in prison as aiding and abetting domestic terrorists.

by Anonymousreply 169July 27, 2021 9:47 PM

R168 Yes, and bringing them to justice. That's the outcome I don't understand. Once the instigators are identified, can they be charged with insurrection?

by Anonymousreply 170July 27, 2021 9:47 PM

R170, I'm guessing that, if it's found that any member of Congress was involved, that may be grounds for expulsion.
Expulsion is the most serious form of disciplinary action that can be taken against a Member of Congress. The United States Constitution (Article I, Section 5, Clause 2) provides that "Each House [of Congress] may determine the Rules of its proceedings, punish its members for disorderly behavior, and, with the concurrence of two-thirds, expel a member." The processes for expulsion differ somewhat between the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Censure, a less severe form of disciplinary action, is an official sanction of a member. It does not remove a member from office.

The 2/3rds vote sounds difficult.

by Anonymousreply 199July 28, 2021 2:40 AM

I think the Democrats really should have put this hearing on primetime from 6 to 9 PM. That way it would have been shown on all the local CBS/ABC/NBC/Fox non-cable channels at night and ratings would be higher. It would have resulted in more people who don't often watch news seeing it.

We have no way of knowing how many independents and moderates saw the hearing today and what they think of it. Obviously it's not worth wondering or hoping what the majority of repub voters thought as they're seeing propaganda on tonight's Fox shows. Fox is doing just what we thought-doing the BLM whataboutism, dismissing the commission and witnesses as "very partisan" and labeling the whole thing as a sham

by Anonymousreply 200July 28, 2021 2:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 205July 28, 2021 2:59 AM

Nothing will dissuade Republicans from this death march... the point of these hearings is not to do that. It's to establish facts for history. Our republic may not survive... but I've stopped given any energy to trying to argue any point with those addicted to the lies.

by Anonymousreply 206July 28, 2021 3:01 AM

by Anonymousreply 207July 28, 2021 3:04 AM

Stefanik is loving the attention of being the newest right wing it-girl

and look she's doing the predictable right wing tactic of playing into grievance. She labels the Jan 6 commission "Pelosi sham commission" and then somehow claims this commission is an attempt to shame Trump voters. So finding out the truth about a Trump supporter insurrection makes Trump voters the victims. The base will love this line

Honestly, there has got to be a way to play this. Talk about the whores and grifters on the right who love this insurrection. Expecting the slightest shred of decency from any of these fuckers, expecting the slightest shred of shame is not going to work ever. Call them whores. Call them grifters. Call them traitors. Lay out constantly, over, and over, and over again that there is a group in Congress, a Republican group, that cannot stand to look at this insurrection because they are complicit. Say it constantly. Say it proudly. Do not shrink from it. Emphasize that there is a group in Congress that should actually be in jail because they tried to support a violent overthrow of the government in favor of the shittiest president in American history. No subtlety. Gloves off. America doesn't do nuance. Spell. It. Out.

by Anonymousreply 218July 28, 2021 3:48 AM

there is something going on, r218, some fear or some nervousness or maybe just some old habit. And maybe, honestly maybe I needs some pushback on this, things do backfire sometimes. But honestly, gloves off, people seems to be the best idea on this. No more shading the truth. Express it bluntly. The Confederates are back, and they want to kill this country, exactly like they did in 1860.

by Anonymousreply 219July 28, 2021 3:51 AM

I'm not sure what the moderate Democrats want. Regardless of what Democrats do or don't do, it's all over if repubs win back Congress next year. McConnell will blow up the filibuster if it gets in the way of something he wants. McCarthy will lead impeachment hearings against Biden, Harris and most of Biden's cabinet. They will also manufacture more fake scandals against other prominent Democrats including Pelosi.

Democrats need to do all they can now while they have the power. There is no tiptoeing anymore with the repubs. They have shown who they are

They'll try to say Kinzinger was unmanly for getting emotional over an attack on our Capitol and the attempted murder of those men but FOX has nothing but praise for an elderly, morbidly obese whine-bag with a piss yellow combover held into a bouffant pouff with shellac made from his plastic daughter's vaginal drippings, who is constantly coated in orange spray paint and eats like trailer trash?

Ok. Well, at least they know their ignorant, spineless trashy audience well I guess. They have that going for them.

R238 and R247 when you ignore R1 R232 also disappears and both appear as posts by the same poster and both are on the ignore list.

What is happening R238 is you have your viewing settings set closer to ‘delicate flower’ than ‘asbestos eye balls.’ When a post has been FF so often that it gets grey-lined then it automatically disappears for those not choosing to see everything. You don’t have that poster on ignore, Muriel removed R1 from your view because it had been so downvoted.

by Anonymousreply 250July 28, 2021 4:05 PM

Do you notice what cowards these Republicans are when actually confronted by their own words? The media simply doesn't hold them accountable for the bullshit they spew, so on that rare occasion when someone confronts them to their face about their bullshit, they act like victims or deny or claim they never said it.

by Anonymousreply 251July 28, 2021 4:28 PM

I had R1 blocked too, but I'm seeing your reply fine R232, so you're not really R1 now, are you? Or is this one of your sock puppet accounts?

by Anonymousreply 252July 28, 2021 4:51 PM

The people saying that "the networks" should've shown these hearings during "primetime" seem a tad out of touch. The overwhelming majority of people under 50 don't watch over-the-air or even cable television, and they're not really watching anything "live" from their TV sets; they're streaming from other devices at their own schedule and convenience. "Primetime" is also a pretty archaic concept in this era of ubiquitous screens, streaming everything, and balancing life and work all from home.

Showing these hearings at night on the traditional broadcast networks would only have the effect of pissing off a LOT of people who expect to settle into their couch at 8pm for an evening of spoon-fed mass-marketed corporate entertainment, a demographic that already skews heavily older and more deplorable than the public at large.

by Anonymousreply 253July 28, 2021 4:55 PM

R1 is r232. You can see that if you use ignore-dar.

Either there's a glitch in the ignore function (which does happen sometimes) or Tony Woodard's explanation earlier is correct, that R1 has been removed automatically after a lot of FFs, but R232 is still there. That means you don't have r1 blocked at all, you're just unable to see that reply and therefore assumed you DID have him blocked.

by Anonymousreply 254July 28, 2021 4:55 PM

You had me at "spoon-fed" r253.

I'll choose the spoon, you choose the menu.

by Anonymousreply 255July 28, 2021 5:02 PM

To test my theory, verify that you can see R232, then scroll up to R1 to see if it appears. I could see the former but not the latter.

Then go to Settings/Permissions in the Thread watcher and move the bar all the way to Asbestos Eyeballs. Come back to this thread and see if R1 is visible, but grayed-out. It was for me.

Using Ignordar confirmed that the poster is the same account.

When did that exchange between Raskin and Clyde occur? If yesterday I'm shocked it didn't urn up on MSNBC through their evening programming.

by Anonymousreply 257July 28, 2021 6:01 PM

Clyde has a very faggy voice. Is she family?

by Anonymousreply 258July 28, 2021 6:44 PM

The question of the day:

CNN's @jaketapper Tapper: Why aren't national police unions 'speaking out on behalf' of Capitol cops?

And the answer tells you everything you need to know.

by Anonymousreply 259July 28, 2021 6:49 PM

Hi R257,
Raskin is on the Rules Committee, and Clyde was appearing as a witness before it to talk about an amendment he is proposing to legislation unrelated to Jan. 6. Raskin, however, had spent the morning in the select committee’s first hearing, listening to four police officers describe the horrific hand-to-hand combat they experienced with Trump supporters who were attempting to stop Congress from certifying the results of the 2020 election.
So when Clyde appeared before the Rules Committee [bold] later on Tuesday, [/bold] Raskin quizzed the Republican about his “tourist” comment and about his vote against legislation awarding Congressional Gold Medals to Capitol Police for their defense of the U.S. Capitol.

by Anonymousreply 260July 28, 2021 7:00 PM

Go back to Gab, R258. If Clyde were family he surely would have mis-named the 6 January Insurrection "Patriotic Brunch" or similar.

by Anonymousreply 261July 28, 2021 7:04 PM

R253 you are wrong. Numbers are down across the board for cable and terrestrial television but the majority of the US still use them over streaming services. And there is a big difference between 18-29 year olds and older people, but the majority of Americans across all ages (56%) still use cable or terrestrial television.
Nielsen, known for measuring television usage in the United States, said Thursday that 64% of time spent on televisions was on network and cable TV, while 26% of time was spent on streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu. Another 8%, categorized as “Other,” includes video-on-demand, streaming from cable set-top boxes, and other TV uses, such as gaming and watching DVDs.

(The linked article is just one source, there's a lot more showing more statistics, like the report from Pew Research. They are not hard to find).

by Anonymousreply 265July 28, 2021 7:20 PM

Exactly one troll hates Yashir and the rest of the posters don’t even know who he is. I don’t even know who he is. I have never heard of him anywhere, not even once, besides the DL yashir troll.

There is some kind of personal beef with that guy and the singular troll.

by Anonymousreply 266July 28, 2021 7:21 PM

R265 is it really a scandal if nobody even knows who he is or cares?

by Anonymousreply 267July 28, 2021 7:21 PM

Well, it was a scandal when the pastor ran off with the church organist, and a lot fewer people knew them than know Yashar Ali. Before the scandal, he had 800,000+ followers.

by Anonymousreply 268July 28, 2021 7:24 PM

Hardly, r266. After the huge Yashir threads we had not too long ago, I think it's safe to say several people here hate him.

Nobody cares about your stupid agenda. Nobody cares about Yashir or even knows who he is. There is a one woman campaign against him that always goes absolutely nowhere. Nobody cares about these internet stars outside of a small bubble of online losers.

by Anonymousreply 271July 28, 2021 7:38 PM

You've said more about Yashar than anyone else has, r271. One person briefly brought him up and a second person responded. That was it.

by Anonymousreply 272July 28, 2021 7:52 PM

Police Unions not speaking up is precisely why CRT is needed whether you fucking like it or not. Those unions are full of white, racist assholes who worship Trump and have upheld white supremacy throughout their history. They don't care if white scum break the law in the service of white supremacy. You think if were non-whites who did to all of those officers what those savages did on 1/6, the unions would've kept quiet.

It is systemic toxicity throughout the ranks of police forces.

by Anonymousreply 273July 28, 2021 8:21 PM

Milley, Capitol Police, Goldstar families, Simone Biles, Scientists, doctors, etc...basically, anyone who has served, sacrificed or in some way been the best representation of this nation, is immediately attacked by these fucking assholes.

How do you think you're on the "good" side when it's populated by useless, vile scum like Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham, Charlie Kirk, Stephen Miller, MTG, Gosar, Gohmert, Meghan McCain, anyone Trump (except Mary), etc? I mean do you accept you're just filth?

by Anonymousreply 283July 29, 2021 1:16 AM
How do you think you're on the "good" side when it's populated by useless, vile scum like Carlson, Hannity, Ingraham, Charlie Kirk, Stephen Miller, MTG, Gosar, Gohmert, Meghan McCain, anyone Trump (except Mary), etc? I mean do you accept you're just filth?

I've thought about this and come to a sad conclusion. The people I know who watch Fux know that they are hard working, good people (and some of them that I know personally basically have potential to be good people) but they are CONSUMED by resentment. (the ones I know) live in Jersey, Staten Island, Long Island, lower Westchester, etc. and, as I do, constantly interact with folks who are "to the manor born". Whereas I just see it as a factor of life and an inequality to be work out, they see is as, one, a punishment and, two, a justification for their own circumventing of unjust rules.

But they also don't really have any hobbies and are by-and-large lacking in social skills. They don't have any carrots to draw them forward, largely relying on anger, punching down and gloating for the adrenaline rush to get on with the necessities of life. While they may not inherently be racist or homophobic or whatnot, when something strikes a fancy they are like. dog with a bone--literally a treat to stimulate them enough to plod onward through their weariness.

So, no, they don't accept themselves as filth. They don't think about much of anything until something they can use to recharge resonates with them.

And that is what make Tuckums and Hannity, and Cruz and Ivanka and the rest of them so fucking evil: THEY KNOW BETTER. They know that these people are broken and lost and angry and sad and desperate for any kind of spark. And they know that the majority of the bile they spill will fall on deaf ears (and, therefore, they will not get punished for it--and when a court attempts to hold them accountable they flat out admit that their sheep should know better). So, what do they do? They just churn it out and build their network on the backs of a few people who believe this and a few people who believe that and a few people who don't know what to believe but are just along for the ride.

What is disheartening is how callous and amoral the politicians and broadcasters are. They are liars but I think even most of their flock know that...they just hate the other side more (which is why every sentence has to mention AOC, or CRT or Pelosi).

That said, some like MTG, Gohmert and this Roy the Redneck are mentally ill

Police Unions are the most frustrating groups.... completely controlled by white supremacist reactionaries, they constantly align with groups who think all unions are wrong, and public unions (with their pensions) being the enemy. Meanwhile police officers are able to get vested in a few years, retire after 20 years. Average police pensions in the US is over $70 k annual, and much higher in urban police departments. Salaries (with manipulated overtime) can exceed $200k annual. Over 3x what teachers can make.

Reform public employees compensation and accountability ... start with the police.

COMMUNISM!

MARXIST!

SQUIRREL!!!

From emancipation to suffrage to the Civil Rights Movement, every step of the way the majority has parried unassailable arguments with a dismissive assertion that that the opponent is too ignorant to produce those words, those actions, that passion on their own. The secondary benefit is to assuage any guilt of oppression (racism...sexism...) by rationalizing that it is not directed (primarily) at the enemy before them--who are merely pawns of foreign powers.

It's easy, cheap and all over the conservative sphere today.

“I was warned on Monday” — January 4 — “that there might be risks associated with the next few days,” Brooks told the Slate politics writer Jim Newell. “That’s why I was wearing that nice little windbreaker" (when he gave his speech at the Ellipse. To cover up the body armor.”

by Anonymousreply 303July 29, 2021 6:05 PM

R291, it's because these people blame Democrats for THEIR bad behavior. Like a typical abuser.

"See what you made me do!". And "I wouldn't act like this if YOU didn't MAKE me".

Anyone who has had to deal with an abuser knows how they think and operate. As long as YOU take on ALL responsibility to keep the abuser happy (stoke his ego, lie for him, cover for him, deny reality, take all blame for HIS abuse), then he's happy. Fail to do any of this and his unhappiness is YOUR FAULT and therefore, in his pea brain, you DESERVE ANY ABUSE he cares to inflict on you.

These people are ALL abusers. They are immature toxic narcissists who believe everything THEY do is perfect and good. They are "forced" to be "mean" by Democrats who fail to behave the way these malignant pricks demand.

That's why they fly into a rage over AOC, Omar, Jaypal, Pelosi and especially Hillary. A powerful woman, speaking her mind and calling out their lies and bullshit, cannot exist. Their very EXISTENCE is an existential threat to them.

They believe, in their warped minds, that these women CAUSE them to attack. That if these women just "shut up and went away" that "everything would be fine and I wouldn't have to act this way".

These men (and it's mostly men) blame everyone else for THEIR feelings of inadequacy. Anyone who isn't like them (white, straight, xtian, male) should "know their place" so these men don't have to act out.

Blame others for your own insecurities and shortcomings. Where have we seen THAT before?

by Anonymousreply 309August 26, 2021 10:58 AM

That's great news, R308. But, the question is will the committee be able to obtain the material. IMHO, until someone of these elected officials is actually arrested and jailed then all of this is just a wasted exercise. Although I do understand the hesitancy in doing that (because this group of Republicans are vindictive as all Hell) I hope that someone on the committee has the balls to push for that action when it becomes necessary. Maybe, Liz Cheney?

by Anonymousreply 310August 26, 2021 11:06 AM

by Anonymousreply 311August 26, 2021 12:34 PM

I do love that the material the committee seeks includes "information about attempts to either carry out or defy Trump’s orders, invoke the insurrection act, martial law or the 25th Amendment."

by Anonymousreply 312August 26, 2021 12:38 PM
Trump is fucked.

IMHO. it's too early to tell. I would hope that you will be right, R311. But, (to me), Mary Trump summed it all up nicely during her recent interviews; "The White male of this country has yet to be held accountable for anything that they have done." These people (whether they knew it or not) tried to effectively overthrow this government, However, it's just being treated as a "boys will be boys" type of attitude.

by Anonymousreply 313August 26, 2021 12:46 PM
Trump will tie this up on courts for as long as he can.

Of course he will. But....

That's why it will always be important to focus on the money. Who will the lawyers be that will represent Trump? How are they to be paid? Who is paying them? I believe that if the committee(or, some other group) focus on that then this committee just might have a chance to score the touchdown.

7 CAPITOL OFFICERS FILE SUIT; KKK ACT AND BIAS CRIME VIOLATIONS

The lawsuit names Donald J. Trump in his personal capacity, the Trump Campaign, Roger Stone, the Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers, and Stop the Steal as defendants, as well as other individuals and members of Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and the Three Percenters. The litigation, Smith et. al. v. Trump et. al. was filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

...

Defendants’ acts violated two provisions of the federal Ku Klux Klan Act, which forbids conspiracies to use force, intimidation, and threats to prevent federal officers from doing their jobs or to injure them in the course of their work. Their acts also amounted to politically motivated acts of domestic terrorism and incitement to riot, which violated the District of Columbia Bias-Related Crimes Act. The defendants also aided and abetted assault and battery on Capitol Police officers, in violation of D.C. law.

(3 of 3) The Select Committee also released [bold]subpoenas to 15 social media companies[/bold] seeking records related to the spread of misinformation, efforts to interfere with the 2020 election or the certification of electoral college results, domestic violent extremists, and foreign influence in the election. Investigators are also interested in how the company’s algorithms contributed to extremism and the insurrection. ▪️Social media giants Facebook, Snapchat, Google, Twitter, Twitch, Reddit, YouTube, and Tik-Tok were targeted, as well as 4chan, 8kun, Gab, Parler, Telegram, and Zello.

[bold]Phone Records[/bold] ▪️The Select Committee is reportedly preparing to issue subpoenas to various telecommunications companies regarding records around Jan. 6. Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) confirmed the Committee is about planning to send notices requesting the major telecom firms preserve the “phone records of several people, including members of Congress,” according to CNN. ▪️Other sources report that targets of the records request will include Reps. Lauren Boebert (CO), Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA), Jim Jordan (OH), Andy Biggs (AZ), Paul Gosar (AZ), Mo Brooks (AL), Madison Cawthorn (NC), Matt Gaetz (FL), Louie Gohmert (TX), Jody Hice (GA), and Scott Perry (PA). Rep. ▪️Jim Jordan has repeatedly dodged answering questions regarding his conversations with Trump on Jan. 6, but we now have more information. Jordan confirmed to Politico that he spoke to the former president “more than once” on the 6th, which reportedly includes one call made with Rep. Matt Gaetz begging Trump to call off his supporters.

Regarding the [bold]Capitol Police Officers lawsuit,[/bold] a user from the linked post commented with this reassuring point:

▪️By starting with a civil suit, witnesses cannot invoke 5A protections. The testimony used in this case will be used for future criminal cases. Can't wait for criminal cases to discover purjory in later testimony. I'm also ready for the immunity deals to begin rolling in to support conspiracy and RICO charges. Maybe this time DoJ will actually make leniency contingent on cooperation, unlike what they've done recently.

[bold]Trump Fires Election Security Director Who Corrected Voter Fraud Disinformation[/bold]

▪️Krebs' firing came after his agency, the [bold]Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency,[/bold] last week released a statement calling the 2020 election "the most secure in American history."

▪️It added, in boldface, "There is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised."

The circumstances surrounding his firing, included in the Department of Homeland Security subpoena, are one of the most important aspects to this whole investigation. I cannot wait to hear what he knew and who he warned in advance of the election and 1/6/21.

New mapping of the Jan. 6 bomber.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that they know who this is but are using this slow leak to get the person(s) to make an error. Either that or the FBI is 'effen incompetent.

by Anonymousreply 335September 8, 2021 9:57 PM

I’ve always got a woman vibe from videos. This needs one just confirms it for me.

by Anonymousreply 336September 9, 2021 2:33 AM

Absolutely, r336. The first time I saw that video, I said, "that's a woman".

There are probably numerous FBI agents that are sympathizers, r334. THAT is why this person hasn't been apprehended.

It's also why it took them so long to track anyone down even AFTER the goddamned INTERNET did their fucking jobs FOR THEM.

Garland needs to borrow Pelosi's swinging dick and obliterate every last traitor in the FBI. Fire them. No pension, no opportunity to retire. Kick them out and prosecute them.

You can start with the pricks in the NYC office who were feeding Ghouliani info about Weiner's laptop and forced Comey to bring it up right before the election in 2016.

Every last one of those traitorous cunts needs to be fired, prosecuted and jailed. General pop. Let them take their chances with other criminals.

Comments from the Twitter post:
The FBI has to have an estimated height & weight with all the footage. She stands right beside the scooter in this video that may have standard handlebar height if a rental, which I'm guessing it is. The suspect does look petite and slight in nature.
Maybe I watch too many movies, but I find it hard to believe that the fbi and cia don’t have the technology in place to ID this person.
Maybe we can get their brother to rat them out.
The Boston marathon bombers were identified in less then 3 days. Why is this taking 8 months?
Why is no one concerned about the police car driving by and this suspect waved at it? It seems like a crucial detail to me. With all the technology, why hasn’t the cell been pinged? And lastly, has the previous few days footage of the area shown someone of this statute around?
I'm convinced they are playing with the suspect with the drip drips. They know who it is. They are watching and surveilling the suspect to gather more info. Had they gone after the suspect (pretty easy to pin down) from the get go they probs would have lost a ton of intel.

R339, I was watching Maddow last night and she was talking about the countless death threats that election officials have gotten from Trump supporters and how none of these people (who have been identified) have been arrested. Law enforcement has done nothing to help with even going after these Trump supporters.

I don't doubt for a second that if this person were Muslim or black or Hispanic, law enforcement would already know who they were. Black people have always been right about law enforcement. They really aren't here to protect everyone. The fact that most of them worship someone as disgusting, corrupt and engaged in criminal activity as Trump and are clearly a bunch of racists and bigots, shows they are not about law and justice.

by Anonymousreply 340September 9, 2021 4:12 PM
...they are not about law and justice.

As others have pointed out, 45 and his tribe never actually say "justice". Their phrase is "LAW & ORDER". While that may seem like a minor variance, the latter means that the dominant party has no interest in the greater good, subsequently they pass LAW to protect their comfort, their structure...their ORDER...
“This is really how a legislative committee should operate,” Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said of the nine-member Jan. 6 panel he also sits on. “We do not engage in constant partisan crossfire and polemical attacks on one another."
The collegiality between the committee's two Republicans and seven Democrats, Raskin added, "does give you a glimpse of what we could do if we didn't have one wheel stuck in the mud.”

[...]
Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), another Jan. 6 panel member, said Cheney and her fellow anti-Trump committee Republican, Illinois Rep. Adam Kinzinger, raise ideas "that we might not think through completely" without them in the room.
“What’s surprised me a little is, she not only is strong on these issues, she’s passionate, she cares," Aguilar said of Cheney. "But she also does a lot of the diplomacy that is important if you want to be successful.”
Part of that comes from Cheney's substantive value to the committee, having held senior executive-branch posts and gotten unique insight into the workings of the West Wing from her father’s role as George W. Bush's vice president. As House GOP conference chair prior to her ouster, Cheney also acquired valuable knowledge about Trump’s relationship with her colleagues and interactions with members of leadership.

[...]
Politics also could easily get in the way as Cheney fights for her political life against a Trump-backed challenger. Some former GOP allies rankled by Cheney's unsparing criticism of Trump now claim privately that she could bail on Democrats if it serves her politically.
“[I] expect her to turn on Democrats when she needs to. I was a close ally of her and she turned,” said one House Republican, speaking candidly on condition of anonymity. “It is just what she does.”
...Cheney's pre-Jan. 6 reputation as a stalwart conservative, is enough to convince other Republicans of her sincerity working alongside Democrats — no matter what obstacles Trump may try to toss in her way.
“My guess is she'll be an honest broker with him. I mean, that's just how she is. She's a professional,” said Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-N.D.). “She may push for things they're not comfortable with, but I don't think she'll surprise them.”
