WHY is it so difficult to find 100% cotton tshirts these days?!?

I've been all over the web in recent weeks trying to find just some regular tshirts that are 100% cotton. I just looking for some shirts to kick around in. Maybe graphic/screen printed, preferably plain, no-pocket crewneck and v-next. I've been all over the place and it seems impossible to find just cheap ass tshirts that aren't some blend of polyester. And I need something better than the average undershirt, though not heavy. Is there also a cotton shortage now?

Speaking of shopping online, have any of you also run into these sites that make it near impossible to stay on them and shop? The ones that tend to go fucking crazy with embedded pop-up style ads, or that self refresh and jerk around with ads each time you load a page? It's like, I'm already shopping on your website, WHY are you trying to irritate me to the point of leaving? Shopping online have become insufferably and who wants to go drive around from store to store looking for basic clothing items? ugh

Pro Club t-shirts

by Anonymousreply 1July 24, 2021 5:51 PM

I miss the classic ribbed tees from the gap.

by Anonymousreply 2July 24, 2021 5:54 PM

Amazon has them.

by Anonymousreply 3July 24, 2021 5:56 PM

Not sure they have any online but TJ Maxx has Life Is Good t shirts all the time in the store near me. Or you could order from them directly if you don’t mind paying full price. Their t shirts are soft, 100% cotton and don’t shrink in the wash.

by Anonymousreply 4July 24, 2021 5:56 PM

TJ maxx tshirts are misstiched and have huge necks and uneven wears. Hate them it’s every brand. They must all use the same manufacturer.

Also the underwear has been changed and it’s every brand too. Same stitching issues. They crush your nuts and there is no room for your stuff.

Go to American eagle . Com they have the best 100% cotton Ts but don’t tell everyone because they are a good deal but the colors and sizes get pretty picked over this late in the summer so keep it to yourself. You will thank me later. Go a size up or order 2 sizes at first till you know your fit. They do Shrink some but nothing like this crap out there now.

Bella+Canvas is a good brand. 3001C. I bought some printed shirt that used this brand, very light and soft, nice cut. Just blank Ts sold for printing on, cheap.

It's not. You must not be looking very deeply if at all.

by Anonymousreply 8July 24, 2021 6:03 PM

Merona tees and dress shirts at Target, and no shitty pop-up ads! Very comfy and durable. I have dozens.

James Perse - soft and somewhat clingy, it will reveal moobs and lovehandles so you have to keep in shape.

by Anonymousreply 10July 24, 2021 6:09 PM

Don’t ask me!

OP = Andy Rooney

by Anonymousreply 12July 24, 2021 6:18 PM

I got a Fruit Of The Loom 97% cotton - (I can feel the 3% of the other stuff) PLUS it's a terrible shape, loose neck and all baggy looking - Fruit Of The Loom used to be the best and 100% cotton. This one's going in the trash.

by Anonymousreply 13July 24, 2021 6:19 PM

I buy Dickies with a crew neck and pocket at WalMart. They're made for guys who work on cars, but they're 100% cotton, are thicker than most Ts and don't shrink much. Carhartt is another brand made for workers, but they're almost too thick.

by Anonymousreply 14July 24, 2021 6:44 PM

These are nice and last a long time. They also sell them in Tall. I have a long torso so I buy these—especially because they have no logo.

You've tried them R8?

by Anonymousreply 16July 24, 2021 8:12 PM

Dickies and Carhartt bran both have 100% cotton. Thick, quality weave. Long lasting. And Carhartt has sizes up to 5 x. I get them when Tractor Supply has a 50% off sale.

by Anonymousreply 17July 24, 2021 10:08 PM

These look pretty good

R17 is there a certain time of year when they haga that sale? I work with an org that provides clothing for the homeless.

Why the obsession with 100% cotton shirts? Synthetic fabrics are much better at wicking moisture when it’s hot and retaining heat when cold. The amount of water, land and labor needed to grow cotton is outrageous and quite frankly indefensible.

by Anonymousreply 21July 24, 2021 11:39 PM

Fast fashion and fatties.

by Anonymousreply 22July 24, 2021 11:45 PM

I love these. JCrew slub cotton Ts aren’t bad for the price.

John Waters said never to wear T-shirts outside the house. Is this for house Ts or brunch Ts or ?

by Anonymousreply 24July 25, 2021 12:26 AM

And synthetic shirts are unacceptable, unless I'm on a fucking baseball team.

by Anonymousreply 25July 25, 2021 12:27 AM

It is more difficult than it had been.100% cotton costs more than blends and fast fashion is dependent on cheap selling prices. Plus a lot of customers just don’t know any better anymore. They like these shitty nylon wicking tshirts that don’t breathe. American Apparel used to have a great 100% Tee but they changed hands and suck now. There’s a brand called “Comfort Colors” that does private label for a lot of companies and you can find it all over Amazon. It comes in a zillion colors and a few fits. I like the 1717.

Because synthetics are cheaper than cotton.

What makes me cringe is when the tag states "50% cotton and 50% unknown fibers". How in the hell do they get away with declaring the composition as "unknown"?

by Anonymousreply 27July 25, 2021 3:50 AM

Hanes brand at your local Target can be your friend, too, OP. Ten to a package. :)

by Anonymousreply 28July 25, 2021 4:42 AM

I like everlane tees.

by Anonymousreply 29July 25, 2021 9:32 AM

I find you have to go to a department store to get those inexpensive packages of cotton tees if you want them to be wearable. They may be what you're looking for if all you want is something to just wear around the house. I find that buying them directly from Hanes or Gildan, or a shop like Nordstrom, is your best bet for decent quality. Getting them from Walmart or Target often means getting lower quality, crunchy tees with necks that would strangle a GI Joe doll.

Slightly more expensive are brands like J.Crew and Jockey but their 100% cotton tees are really nice. I know those brands aren't exactly in these days but it's just a tee.

R27, lately I've been seeing "sustainable fiber" or "sustainable fabric" and I'm always put off by how vague that is.

by Anonymousreply 31July 25, 2021 9:42 AM

That's what I've been buying, r26. I don't have any complaints, and the colors are nice.

by Anonymousreply 32July 25, 2021 11:33 AM

R14: "I buy Dickies with a crew neck and pocket at WalMart. They're made for guys who work on cars, but they're 100% cotton, are thicker than most Ts and don't shrink much."

R14 is either a dom top, a MAGA, or a cheapskate. In any event, he's probably very good in bed.

Also, Uniqlo has great 100% cotton tshirts. And they have the best graphics.

by Anonymousreply 33July 25, 2021 11:37 AM

[quote] lately I've been seeing "sustainable fiber" or "sustainable fabric" and I'm always put off by how vague that is.

Ground up plastic containers that formerly contained toxic substances have been woven into a "sustainable fabric". What's more sustainable than something that isn't harmful to the earth even if it is leeching something into your body every time you wear it.
