How Do You Say Tasteful Friends In Russian?

Only a year old but somehow looks dated.

I don't hate it. In fact, I love the bedrooms.

That’s Hanna, you idiot!

I like the place.

Your own private ice skating rink 9 months of the years.

Some Russian architect hack tried to rip off Zaha Hadid and ended up with something tacky, fit for a kleptocratic oligarch.

I’m not here to teach you all Russian.

If you're going to do all that, I expected a bit more room. It's 300 sq. meters (just under 3000 sq ft), which is sizable, but it feels kind of tight in there.

Plus - that's an open garage? Moscow winters are pretty severe - not to mention, theft prevention?

It's also a cold and winter environment 5-6 months out of the year - you need to warm up the space some to counter that. I just see a lot of the outside color palette inside. That's great if you like white, slate and dead treescape.

Then the architecture seems to try too hard and isn't really well done.

It's Tony Stark's jock strap!

It’s stunning but I could not live in it, it feels cold and impersonal. I think it would be like living in a museum of modern art.

by Anonymousreply 10July 23, 2021 3:13 PM

It just needs a little color, r10. I would love it, if it were on a beach in a warm city.

It's very Soviet.

I feel like there was a room just like this in the 1960s campy "Casino Royale" movie. The Russians were walking down the stairs, trying to brainwash Mata Hari into thinking she was insane.

I don’t hate it, but it requires a lot of warm elements to make it feel homey.

This house would have been contemporary in 1967, before the architect was probably even born. It's like a time capsule, with that sunken living area, complete with the suspended fireplace! And the bucket chairs...

It also looks like being impossible to heat (not a negligible problem in Moscow oblast), and it seems to be on a tiny lot surrounded by very conventional houses.

Hard pass.

by Anonymousreply 15July 23, 2021 6:03 PM

I like the main house a lot, but the grounds and outbuildings look like an earthquake in Hobbiton.

by Anonymousreply 16July 23, 2021 6:06 PM

Also, what's that dark, scary rock-climbing sculpture niche in the bathroom? I guess if you need something to scare the crap out of you....
