This movie looks lovely, but I'm confused: I thought only X were supposed to tell X stories. In this case, this is a black, trans woman's story - written by a non-binary person who seems of Latinx origin and directed by a Cis Gay Black Man. How come this is acceptable? Is it actually that no cis straight white/cis gay white people should be directing anything that's not cis and white? If so, that lumps everyone NON cis/white into one larger category - and we know groups of people aren't monoliths.
Can someone tell me what the rules are now? I'm so confused!
