Monsignor Grindr RESIGNS from top Catholic post
by Anonymous | reply 76 | July 26, 2021 2:47 PM |
On the bright side, the loss of his priest job means he can devote himself full time to Grindr!
[quote] The Pillar correlated a unique mobile device to Burrill when it was used consistently from 2018 until at least 2020 from the USCCB staff residence and headquarters, from meetings at which Burrill was in attendance, and was also used on numerous occasions at Burrill’s family lake house, near the residences of Burrill’s family members, and at a Wisconsin apartment in Burrill’s hometown, at which Burrill himself has been listed as a resident.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 21, 2021 2:50 AM |
“A mobile device correlated to Burrill emitted app data signals from the location-based hookup app Grindr on a near-daily basis during parts of 2018, 2019, and 2020 — at both his USCCB office and his USCCB-owned residence, as well as during USCCB meetings and events in other cities,” the Pillar reported.
I'm sure he'll say he was just "browsing."
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 21, 2021 2:51 AM |
Hypocrites go to the worst part of hell. What a gross, disgusting person, who couldn't behave himself for 70 years or so before claiming a godly reward of eternal life with his savior. Now he will probably burn in eternal fire because he chose to use a lewd app to fantasize over dick pics....or worse!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 21, 2021 2:53 AM |
[quote] On June 22, the mobile device correlated to Burrill emitted signals from Entourage, which bills itself as Las Vegas’ “gay bathhouse.”
He was just carrying out his ministry... to cock!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 21, 2021 2:54 AM |
That is scary, someone could dox you and get your ass fired. This is why you should support gay owned local bathhouse.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 21, 2021 2:54 AM |
Who the fuck surveilled him?
Was one of his family members or congregation also on grinder and spotted him, then tattled?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 21, 2021 2:55 AM |
It was no doubt another priest who hated his guts and wanted him gone.

The Catholic church (and all of Christianity, really) needs to rethink their approach to human sexuality. This chastity bullshit has a proven track history of not panning out well.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 21, 2021 3:21 AM |
The bigger story is that they found out about him because Grindr collects info from its users and they were able to see where he went and who he met. Scary stuff.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 21, 2021 3:32 AM |
I only met with men from grindr so I could lecture them about giving up the wicked homosexual lifestyle!
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 21, 2021 3:36 AM |
Plus, what's he doing on Grindr? Scruff would be a lot more age-appropriate. Although maybe he's into a lot of altar-boy roleplay and you need twinks for that.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 21, 2021 3:39 AM |
Agree r10. So stupid to deny a natural urge. A necessity.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 21, 2021 3:39 AM |
Reminds me of the grindr pastor
(How many of these closeted religious guys are on grindr, anyway? Has anyone here ever hooked up with one?)
by Anonymous | reply 15 | July 21, 2021 3:43 AM |
Do NOT send him to Boys Town.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 21, 2021 3:43 AM |

SASHAY!

by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 21, 2021 3:47 AM |
Daddy! Fuck me!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 21, 2021 3:48 AM |
Because any and all gay men like boys? Fuck that shit.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 21, 2021 3:49 AM |
Isn’t this a breach of privacy?

[quote]Top official in US Catholic Church resigns after 'cellphone data revealed he used gay dating app Grindr and visited gay bars'
I'm confused. What's the problem. He was clearly ministering to those vile gays and trying to turn them to god.
[quote]He was responsible for helping to coordinate the U.S. bishops' response to the Church's 2018 sexual abuse and coercion scandals.
You really can't make this crap up.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 21, 2021 3:53 AM |
Anyone got his Grindr pics? He’s kind of hot
by Anonymous | reply 22 | July 21, 2021 3:53 AM |
Let me guess—he wanted to refuse communion to Biden
by Anonymous | reply 23 | July 21, 2021 3:54 AM |
O ye of little faith.
He was obvs looking for souls to save. Just doing god's work.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | July 21, 2021 3:55 AM |
Please.
There was a priest in Illinois who called the police one night.
He had on some kind of B and D gear complete with a mouth harness, leather belts and what not, and had locked himself into his own handcuffs.
The police (dying of laughter) had to release him. Then he went for "counseling," but I doubt he returned to ministry.
No one cares if the Monsignor went cruising. There's been so much more scandalous stuff done.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 21, 2021 4:04 AM |
He'll probably be quietly reinstated, but relocated to another country. The Catholic church is a global business. Then 5 years later, he'll probably be moved back and given a low-key job.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | July 21, 2021 4:09 AM |
The bigger issue is that our location data can be tracked AND sold.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 21, 2021 4:09 AM |
[quote]The Pillar reported it had obtained information based on the data Grindr collects from its users,
This is the creepy part. I'm glad the guy got busted and all, but this part creeps me out.
Is there no privacy any more? Doesn't even Grinder respect a person's privacy?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 21, 2021 4:14 AM |
Grindr I meant. My phone autocorrected it.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 21, 2021 4:15 AM |
He's so relieved inside. Now he can be gay. Now he can hit the street summer street festivals wearing tank tops and looking for dick like the rest of us. Hoo fucking ray.

Dating Reichen in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1....
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 21, 2021 4:22 AM |
Was it tracked because if was a work phone? If he was using his own phone then it shouldn’t be tracked by his workplace.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 21, 2021 4:25 AM |
I got a spam ransom letter demanding 1,089 in Bitcoin or they’d ruin my life revealing I watched porn. Isn’t the internet fun?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 21, 2021 5:13 AM |
His workplace didn't track him. The Pillar found his data for sale from a "data broker." It sounds like an enemy of his in the USCCB tipped off The Pillar that he was on Grindr, and then The Pillar went out and bought Grindr data from some shady source and found and tracked his IP address. Then according to The Pillar, once they had proof of his internet activity, they approached the USCCB and gave it a few days to figure out a response before they went public. I'm not exactly sure what The Pillar is but it seems like a sleazy tabloid for the Church. It's probably used by vicious, ambitious priests to smear each other.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | July 21, 2021 4:28 PM |
The Church doesn't give a shit as long as the clergy aren't fucking anybody who might get pregnant and force them to fork over for child support.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | July 21, 2021 4:33 PM |
I'm sure this nasty, vengeful, hateful bitch queen had something to do with it.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | July 21, 2021 5:32 PM |
I hate these fuckers. I was an altar boy in the '70s for a priest transferred to the wholesome Midwest after molesting his way through the eastern seaboard. Did the powers that were really believe this behavior would stop?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | July 21, 2021 5:58 PM |
This is actually a much bigger story buried inside another Church Scandal story
The data they collected on him is supposed to be secure in that it can't be tracked back to any individual person because it is stripped of things like names and addresses and anything obvious.
But privacy advocated have long argued that it's not that hard to draw connections-- that if the data comes from, say, an unmarried 50 year old man living in a certain zipcode who works as a clergyman, that there's only one person who would fit that description and its easy to figure out who it is.
That seems to be what happened here.
So the story is getting play in the tech world outside of its gay priest angle.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | July 21, 2021 6:03 PM |
Uh - Google Timeline will show you exactly where you've gone in the past year. It doesn't say they got this from the app - however, if the app is on his phone and he has auto login, they could easily access more data.
So the Catholic Church is now SPYING on their own clergy?
At the same time, this idiot using his work phone. Talk about stupid.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | July 21, 2021 6:11 PM |
Read this R39
It will explain better than I did at R38
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 21, 2021 6:15 PM |
The guys who run The Pillar sound like total sleazebags.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | July 21, 2021 6:43 PM |
A priest-friend kiddingly said "Chastity? I thought it was Charity and I've been giving it away all these years."
by Anonymous | reply 43 | July 21, 2021 6:50 PM |
R40 - so somebody who bought the info took the time to sift through the data to trap him and then sent it to the Catholic Church?
That sounds wild.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | July 21, 2021 7:59 PM |
R42 - those editors look gay to me.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | July 21, 2021 8:04 PM |
[quote] That is scary, someone could dox you and get your ass fired.
[quote] Who the fuck surveilled him?
Are you kidding?
Don’t go threatening to withhold communion from the president of the United States, which is what US Catholic Bishops did. They fucked around and they found out.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | July 21, 2021 9:42 PM |
I'd drink the wine from his chalet.
I don't believe the data purchase story. I think some other person (probably straight on church committee who didn't like him) downloaded Grindr and turned it on when they attended a meeting to see who was nearby. That person, probably favorited all of the close profiles and then tracked their location in the coming days/months. They probably drove by this guy's home and sat outside to see how many feet away he was, and then saw that he was in Vegas at the bathhouse.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | July 21, 2021 9:47 PM |
Just one more thing, Monsignor....
by Anonymous | reply 48 | July 21, 2021 9:50 PM |
Wait. The Monsignor is 70? He looks 25 years younger. Datalounger?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | July 21, 2021 10:01 PM |
Just by looking at his photo, I assumed he's a sub leather daddy.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | July 21, 2021 10:05 PM |
JD (James Daniel) Flynn of Denver is the one who outed the priest. Maybe we should find some things out about JD.
Also....he hates Democrats: On Monday, April 8 2013 the Denver Democratic Party was informed that the Archdiocese of Denver would not be honoring its contract and that House District 8 would have to find another location for its annual Spaghetti Dinner; which was scheduled for the following Saturday, April 13, 2013. We were told by the Archdiocese’s newest chancellor, James Daniel “JD” Flynn, that although the church had accommodated House District 8 for the past 4 years; that the church would no longer allow the Denver Dems to rent the space. While Flynn claimed the reason was related to the Archdiocese’s tax exempt status, in further discussion he stated that Democratic party fundraisers were “harmful to people”.

I drank champagne on a yacht.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | July 21, 2021 10:08 PM |
Buried in the Daily Mail article: earlier this year Norway fined Grindr almost $12 million for selling user data to advertisers.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | July 21, 2021 10:15 PM |
Isn't Grindr owned by the Chinese or something or was that just a rumor?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | July 21, 2021 10:45 PM |
Time to dig up some dirt on JD Flynn
by Anonymous | reply 58 | July 21, 2021 10:52 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 60 | July 22, 2021 1:37 AM |
R57, it used to be but the US made the Chinese company sell Grindr
by Anonymous | reply 61 | July 22, 2021 2:34 PM |
In a way, we should be happy. This proves that the Catholic hierarchy doesn't conflate homosexuality with pedophilia because were the Monsignor a pedophile, they would have protected and defended him... but he's gay and cruising Grindr for adult men, so has to go.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | July 22, 2021 3:08 PM |
R62 - yes, it is so comforting that the Catholic Church draws the line at consensual age and coercion.
Of age and not coerced? FIRED. Underage and coerced? Let's all pray for him, poor thing. Maybe a new sunnier locale would suit him better. Do we have an opening in Central or South America?
by Anonymous | reply 63 | July 22, 2021 4:26 PM |
More!!!
by Anonymous | reply 64 | July 22, 2021 10:57 PM |
Did anyone here read the article? It basically says that Grindr is a way for gay men to have sex with underage boys. They then make the argument that this priest was probably having sex with underage boys for this reason. Don’t get excited about salacious stories like this because it’s the conservative Catholic media’s way of calling us pedophiles.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | July 22, 2021 11:34 PM |
So he was pushing to deny Biden the Eucharist for his stance on abortion (despite the Vatican saying no to that,) while getting dick on the downlow, violating not only the Catholic Church's teachings on homosex, but also his own vow of celibacy?
Nice
by Anonymous | reply 67 | July 22, 2021 11:36 PM |
The Washington Post published an in depth story about the case today that's pretty interesting. I love the way it ends with a quote from one of the "journalists" who bought the data:
[quote] Toward the end of Friday’s podcast, Flynn and Condon bemoaned the public debate about their recent work.
[quote] “I hate being the center of attention like this,” Flynn said.
Something tells me that scandal will befall Flynn and Condon in the not too distant future.

I think I’m the only one who attended a Catholic Church that had a straight priest. He left it to marry a woman and became a Protestant minister. A number of years back, a number of the priests at several of the churches in the diocese tried picking me up. Another young priest used to like to walk around nude in the locker room at the local gym to show off his body and nice clock. Didn’t think women should have a role in the church. Very misogynistic. Always wondered if he has a regular fuck buddy.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | July 26, 2021 12:48 AM |
I wonder why these guys are so eager to "expose" gay priests
by Anonymous | reply 70 | July 26, 2021 1:17 AM |
R69, what time did his “clock” show?
by Anonymous | reply 71 | July 26, 2021 11:31 AM |
I have downloaded Grindr and checked it out and deleted it. I never intended to meet anyone, but if someone got ahold of my data, would it be assumed I was hooking up? Seems very witch hunt-esque and a slippery slope. Even though it’s a priest, technically he didn’t do anything wrong or illegal. They are still using bigotry to weaponize homosexuality.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | July 26, 2021 11:47 AM |
According to the Washington Post, they have data on a lot of priests they intend to expose. I think they are going to dribble out exposures selectively to hurt their enemies in the Church. The fall of Flynn and Condor cannot come soon enough. I hate the Church for its hypocrisy but I hate these right wing creeps even more.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | July 26, 2021 1:09 PM |
Were there any photos of a "sensitive" nature on his app profiles?
by Anonymous | reply 74 | July 26, 2021 1:10 PM |
I laugh when conspiracy theorists think the vaccine somehow inserts a tracking mechanism. We are all being tracked all the time already and we accept it without fighting back. And the irony is that all we have to do is turn off or limit usage of our phones and other smart devices but we are addicted to them. Wtf is this life!?
by Anonymous | reply 75 | July 26, 2021 1:22 PM |
R72 Illegal? No, and he suffered no "legal" repercussions at all. The Church (where he was a senior officer, from which he received a livelihood) demanded as "terms of employment", as it were, that he take a vow of celibacy, as well as honor the "rules" against homosexuality. So was what he did "wrong"? Of course not. Was it in contradiction to what he committed to his employer as a part of his vocation? Yes. Should the Church come into the 21st century? Yes. Should the Church care more about the millions of poor on the earth who are starving? Yes.
WWJD? Very little of what the Church does....
