Now I’m an elder gay , reading the same damn posts I posted 20 years ago. Who’s gay? Who’s slept with whom? It never changes and I love it!

1995/1996 was my last year of undergrad studies. I was often in the computer lab, and I was just starting to come out of the closet to friends. As a young gayling, I was fascinated by drag queens and "fun" bars. I found "The Draginatrix" online, and checked in every day to read the posts in Trudy's Conversation Pit. As it was another Mediapolis site, there were links to the DataLounge, which started out as more of a LGBT news clearinghouse.

In the early days, I was fascinated by the contributions of well-placed gays in politics, film, theater, finance, the press, psychology, advertising, the visual arts world, among others. I loved feeling like I was "in the know," even though I had no idea how true most of the material was.

DL has had some ups and downs over the years, and I've left and come back a few times. I feel like we grew into adulthood together. I lean on this community. It gives me a kind of sustenance.

I should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque. I didn't, and ended up here.
