In Florida news, two men found dead in Hotel Room at Former Versace Mansion
Police are investigating after two men were found dead in a hotel room in the former Versace Mansion on Miami Beach Wednesday. The discovery was made just after 1 p.m. at the property at 1116 Ocean Drive, which is now a luxury hotel named Villa Casa Casuarina.
Miami Beach Police said they received a call from housekeeping and found the two men dead inside the hotel room. The identities of the men weren't released. Officials said the scene was contained to the hotel room and detectives have launched a death investigation.

Did they fuck each other to death? OD? Did they try that new variation on fisting that everyone is talking about, where one guy puts his head up the other guy's ass - thereby rupturing one, causing him to bleed out, while the other suffocated? Drug deal gone wrong? Heart attack, followed by sympathetic heart attack? Maybe it was the ghost of Andrew Cunanan - not even death could slake his blood lust - or the ghost of Versace, taking his revenge on all who live.
Maybe they psychically read this post from the past and died of boredom!

Something went really wrong with the psych tech's life. He completed 3 years of medical school, (accruing huge debt, no doubt), did fine on the hardest test in the world, the USMLE Step 1, and then he doesn't bother getting his degree? It is not clear he graduated.
I, too, was dismayed with medical school. I even took time off to consider options. I found out that with an MD, there are so many non clinical options. Public health, research, MBA/pharma investing, malpractice law, etc.
Something went very wrong for him to chose not to complete the easiest year (4th year) and be eligible for Step 2 and internship.

He must have had some psychotic break in medical school. Interesting that he said on his LinkedIn page that he realized med school wasn’t the right fit for him.
But being a pharmacy tech is???
He proudly lists his Board scores, so he was still trying to use his med school years to get him a job.

To be fair with four years of pre-med, then several of medical school that person might as well do something with that background.
A good number of failed medical students end up in nursing, pharmacy, or other medical related fields.
Leaving aside professional goals and satisfaction people have to eat and pay bills you know...

Pharm tech is faster than becoming a pharmacist. Most states (if not all) it takes four years of post grad to become a pharmacist. Someone from med school might have enough credits that could transfer, but still would likely have more credits and other requirements to complete. Pharmacists also require post grad/residency as well. So it's not like this guy or anyone else could simply bounce out of med school (without even graduating), and become a pharmacist.
OTOH again being a pharma tech or assistant would be a piece of piss for someone who made it through pre-med and three years of medical school .

R67, but you’d also be paid peanuts in comparison to being a doctor.
He had this pharm tech job for 6 years so wasn’t trying for anything else—yet he trumpets his med school experience in his LinkIn top byline.
Something went wrong. Maybe his grade were bad. Maybe he has psych probs.
He did kill himself. Life wasn’t going well

Will you stop focising on med school!
The guy quit med school before graduating for whatever his personal reasons. That did *NOT* absolve need to find some sort of employment.
Student nurses who quit programs before graduation take nursing assistant/tech or other healthcare related jobs. What of it? Yes, the pay is less but they know that going in, and knew it also when left nursing school.
Law students to paralegals, and the list goes on.....
Again obviously if you quit professional education before graduating there goes that high paying meal ticket. But this poor soul obviously wanted out of medical school, period. Must I remind you again completing medical school isn't end of things. There would have been three to four years of post graduate (once called intern and residency). Then maybe a few years more if a doctor wants a certain specialty. In actuality graduating med school is just the beginning.
Not every newly graduated physician matches a post grad program their first round of applying. Until they complete post (med school) graduate training it isn't as if a new doctor is going to be raking in huge bucks.
Why shouldn't this person not list his accomplishments on various websites? Completed pre-med and getting into med school isn't too shabby, even if someone doesn't finish the latter.

[quote] Most states (if not all) it takes four years of post grad to become a pharmacist.
It takes 4 to 5 yrs, depending on the school. No post grad/residency required.
There are only about 3 classes that might have been transferrable. And even if that happened, it wouldn't have saved him any time. They only offer pharmacy classes in a set schedule. He wouldn't have been able to get ahead a semester or anything like that. The most he could hope for is one less class the 1st semester and 2 less classes the next semester and that's it. They'd still be full semesters. Pharmacy school is 18 credits a semester as opposed to 12
He could have earned $100,000 a year

I am well acquainted with medical school education. The reason why this sticks out so much is I have never heard of ANYONE dropping out of medical school AFTER 3rd year. NEVER. Why forgo the benefits of an MD when you have your easier year left?
And he keeps touting that he actually went to med school. Sure, that may mean he's smart and capable, but the alarms go off because he left after the 3rd year. The obvious question is WHY.
His reasoning that it wasn't a good fit doesn't cut it, and, if I were a potential employer, I'd be very wary.

It would have been far more marketable if he had an MD at the end of his name, whether or not her went on to internship and residency. I know people with MDs who went to wall street, drug companies, health foundations--without having completed a residency. Their MD was the ticket.

Why would anyone want to go to medical school. My doc, who is a specialist, makes less money than my daughter with a bachelor's degree and both are in the 250K range. They have to be awfully dedicated to go into medicine unless they are going to be in one of the highest paying specialties.

You can easily earn $100,000 per year in sales. You have to have to have a degree, but selling steel or alumnum and/or pther industrial products earns you some decent bucks.

250k puts you in the top 10%, and probably higher, so it's still very well-paid. And being a doctor is a respected position, you're helping people get better (some find this aspect attractive for a career). However, the hours and debt may suck.

Everyone keeps saying he would’ve had easy access to drugs working in a pharmacy, but wouldn’t controlled substances be tightly controlled and monitored? There are cameras everywhere. The last time I had a severe episode of diverticulitis I asked for one Tylenol with codeine to get some relief and they wouldn’t prescribe it and acted as if I was a drug seeker. They have gone in the opposite direction with the opioid epidemic. I wouldn’t think it would be easy to be a drug addicted pharmacy employee anymore.
