And it was very dishy and well written. He's had such am interesting life. Like all SNL you come away feeling that Lorne Michaels is the devil

When is Michaels finally going to retire? He's 76.

I worked with Chris Kattan. A jerk and a drug addict. Is that mentioned in the book?

Yes. He's in constant pain from breaking his neck and some botched surgeries. His left arm is atrophied and he can't even type anymore.

I would imagine he’s a jerk because he’s in constant pain.

How did he break his neck?

They had a sketch where the guys had a fetish for dressing as the Golden Girls and would sit and eat cheesecake while their wives were away. Chris asked for a prop chair all week but they never gave him one. At the end he was supposed to choke on the cake and fall over backwards and he broke his neck.

Why?

Lorne seems to have favorites who he treats very well while everyone else is disposable. I always thought it was absurd that Fallon was widely criticized for having trump on his show but Michaels somehow escaped unscathed. I suspect Michaels has certain Republican leanings , I remember him saying years ago how democrats hated making fun of themselves but Republicans were more game. Which is complete bullshit. They only went after trump because he was so mockable, Lorne seems like an elitist asshole who has a liberal veneer but is really reactionary and sympathetic to right wingers.

Kattan was one of the least talented SNL cast members ever. I never 'got' him or Molly Shannon or Pete Davidson (sp?) or a dozen others over the years.

What's your takeaway from the book, OP?
