Mattel's to Ruin Movies w/ Barbie, Uno, View-Master Films
[quote] Margot Robbie as Barbie, Daniel Kaluuya reimagining Barney, plots based on Uno and View-Master: Mattel, in the throes of a financial comeback, has 13 films in the works.
First Marvel, DC and Star Wars took over 80 percent of the feature film market, and now fucking Mattel is coming for the remaining 20 percent. Ugh.
So glad there's so much good non-children's superhero/video game/doll-based TV nowadays.

Yesterday I was watching a crappy movie called “Under the Silver Lake”, which is a black-comedy horror/thriller that takes place in LA. One of the characters references a producer who (I’m paraphrasing) “makes movies about superheroes based on cleaning products”.
A Mr. Clean movie sounds better than an Uno movie. For fucks sake.

I’ll never understand why Mrs. Beasley never got her own spin off TV show, I hope it’s not too late for her to break into the movies.

R4 No, from Family Affair, she was so popular Mattel had to rush out a toy based on her.

R5 Oh well I would like Archie's Mrs. Beasley to have a show. Why haven't we ever seen a show based around the life of a cranky old school lunch lady? Huh??!

There is nothing they can do with Barbie that seems worth the effort. There was already an animated series with Barbie doing wholesome and girl-power things like rescuing ponies and such.
Do the producers know what little girls do with Barbies? I can’t have been the only girl who staged elaborate “Dallas”-style power struggles and sapphic orgies (with one token male - Donny Osmond doll) and shipwrecks and volcanic eruptions destroying the Barbie camper-van. Sometimes it was about the outfits and hair, though.

R6 There’s a kid’s graphic novel about one and when supergirl was on Glee her mother was one and a character.

R8 Oh, well I was just being silly and don't really want to watch a movie about a grumpy lunch lady, but that's good to know, thanks!

Mattel totally ruined Thomas the Tank taking it from imaginative scale toys into living CGI SJW things. I suppose that will be the template for the new stuff

Viewmaster? How the hell do you make a movie about that gadget???? Will the kids watch the movie one frame at a time? Will they just give the kids 3-D glasses and tell them it's a Viewmaster?
