Are you kidding? Have you even been abroad? I’ve traveled pretty much everywhere, and American drivers aren’t too bad.

Driving in the US is too easy. It doesn't require any thought. Our cities were built for cars, and our highways are wide and extensive. Complacency breeds laziness.
OTOH, in a place like Mexico, you can't afford to be lazy while driving. Roads are in poor condition, they're not wide enough, and there's not enough space. You have to be aggressive and always aware of what's going on around you.

Most Americans can't drive a stick shift. Their driving schools and tests are done on automatic transmissions. Not allowed in the rest of the world.

You haven't lived until you've driven on a 2-lane mountain road in Northwest Greece with a semi hauling ass down the middle of the road toward you. And the only way to avoid the semi is to veer off straight down the side of the mountain.
