Tasteful Friends: What The Literal Fuck???

I am at a loss for words to explain this.

Maybe another DLer can try.

's house?

by Anonymousreply 1July 2, 2021 1:40 AM

"Needs TLC"

by Anonymousreply 2July 2, 2021 1:41 AM

Was it a crime scene? A home invasion? Aliens took them away one night?

by Anonymousreply 3July 2, 2021 1:41 AM

Surprised it's not 1.3m

by Anonymousreply 4July 2, 2021 1:42 AM

Old abandoned house someone's inherited and is trying to sell. What is so hard for you to understand? I don't get it.

by Anonymousreply 5July 2, 2021 1:45 AM

It looks pretty modern R5

by Anonymousreply 6July 2, 2021 1:46 AM

Location! Location! Location! Make this one your own!

by Anonymousreply 7July 2, 2021 1:49 AM

It looks like it was squatted for some time. Then evacuated. It seems to have the mark of evil on it. The land is likely worth that much money.

by Anonymousreply 8July 2, 2021 1:56 AM

Do NOT look in the crawl space.

by Anonymousreply 9July 2, 2021 2:05 AM

This is where Janbot lives OP. The image of the intact electrical wiring shows how she can still get onto the internet somehow and troll the fuck out of Datalounge.

by Anonymousreply 10July 2, 2021 2:08 AM

It's move in ready. Even includes dishes and toilet paper

by Anonymousreply 11July 2, 2021 2:11 AM

It had a hole in the roof

by Anonymousreply 12July 2, 2021 2:12 AM

Most of this is construction clutter and dust. I only see a couple of real construction issues. Plus the yard hasn't been taken care of in years.

This isn't as bad as you think. Have you seen some of the home people choose to flip? Mold, literal animal shit everywhere, termites, punched-in walls, water damage.

This has little of that. Yes, I'm being serious.

by Anonymousreply 13July 2, 2021 2:14 AM

It’s a manifestation of severe mental illness.

by Anonymousreply 14July 2, 2021 2:15 AM

The wood is quite rotted in one of those bath rooms.

by Anonymousreply 15July 2, 2021 2:17 AM

Good bones, or are those human bones?

by Anonymousreply 16July 2, 2021 2:21 AM

[quote]Have you seen some of the home people choose to flip?

I think this one's already been flipped. And it landed wrong side up.

by Anonymousreply 17July 2, 2021 2:24 AM

Seriously OP? You've never seen a distressed home? There are thousands of them.....all over the place. Nothing unusual about this one. It's typical of what we see every day.

by Anonymousreply 18July 2, 2021 2:26 AM

Looks like a house an old person died in. After a while they stop giving a fuck and/or stop being able to keep the place up.

by Anonymousreply 19July 2, 2021 2:29 AM

House flipping should be taxed out of existence.

by Anonymousreply 20July 2, 2021 2:42 AM

Learn English, OP.

by Anonymousreply 21July 2, 2021 2:43 AM

[quote] Most of this is construction clutter and dust

That's isn't true. There are leaves all over the house. Because there was a hole in the roof for a long time

by Anonymousreply 22July 2, 2021 2:43 AM

Do they not ever advertise teardowns as such?

by Anonymousreply 23July 2, 2021 2:46 AM

R22 - no - there aren't that many leaves. That's probably from the squatters/drug users who brought them in.

by Anonymousreply 24July 2, 2021 2:56 AM

LOL. You gonna fix up that dump, R20? It would be amusing to see you try.

by Anonymousreply 25July 2, 2021 2:59 AM

Yuk. I hate formal places where you feel like you can't relax or sit a cat down.

by Anonymousreply 26July 2, 2021 2:59 AM

Add a few throw pillows and it's move in ready.

by Anonymousreply 27July 2, 2021 3:48 AM

I'm convinced that it's haunted.

by Anonymousreply 28July 2, 2021 3:53 AM

At least they removed the yellow crime scene tape.

by Anonymousreply 29July 2, 2021 12:26 PM

LOL at Captain Obvious and Friends posting "it's a big rehab project for a house flipper."

We get that.

It's that fact that they took 35 photos of the disaster and the write-up does not in any way acknowledge the current state of the house is what's funny.

The write up just says

[quote] 3 beds and 2 baths with a large lot. Lake access and rights nearby beaches, Nearby schools include Kent Primary School, George Fischer Middle School and Carmel High School.

by Anonymousreply 30July 2, 2021 1:49 PM

A cursory review of Putnam County property records show it was purchased in 10/2020 for 50k by a New Jersey LLC and “value useable” is “no.” Prior to that it was purchased by a Robert B in 1991 for 80k.

I’d love to know the back story. Did the LLC buy it thinking to fix it up such as installing new kitchen cabinets but give up? Why the heck didn’t the seller/realtor clean the place up a bit and toss the personal items in a dumpster?

For tax purposes the land is worth 11.3k and the market value is 265.6k.

What in the world happened?

by Anonymousreply 31July 2, 2021 1:56 PM

Good sleuthing R31.

I suspect the LLC is thinking that given rising real estate prices, they can get someone to pay double what they paid (maybe more) while still viewing it as a potential fixer upper.

by Anonymousreply 32July 2, 2021 2:02 PM

I can’t comment …I don’t meet the criteria as tasteful…..

by Anonymousreply 33July 2, 2021 2:05 PM

It think it looks absolutely charming

by Anonymousreply 34July 2, 2021 2:07 PM

Agree r13, bring in one of those companies that takes out the junk and does a cursory clean up and go from there. If the roof is okay (hard to tell) and the outside wood paneling around the doors can be fixed, it's definitely salvageable.

by Anonymousreply 35July 2, 2021 2:08 PM

I'm speechless as well OP. "Amawalk"away!

by Anonymousreply 36July 2, 2021 2:22 PM

I am just so curious why it’s in such a chaotic state.

The place is on septic with its own well. But that’s just so weird for a small 80 x 100 lot situated amongst other houses which may have their own septic/well. Way back in the 80s Southeast Portland was required to go from septic/well to muni hook ups. The residents balked at the measly 10k fee but it had to be done for public health reasons. I wonder if that’s the case here.

But that doesn’t explain the chaos and disrepair. Why in the world would someone install new cabinets when there needs to be HVAC, electrical, and possibly roof work done? Just crazy!

by Anonymousreply 37July 2, 2021 2:55 PM

Correct, R32. We do it all the time. Purchase the house direct from the owner and put it right on the market at a higher price. Maybe do a clean out and some lipstick. Maybe not. Each home is different and has to be analyzed for the highest and best profit strategy. In a hot market you don't have to do much, unless you want to. Another investor (hopefully an eager, dumb newbie) will overpay for it and do the rehab. It's called wholesaling.

And, to the genius @ R30 (who must also be the idiot OP), investors often buy distressed properties sight unseen. The more photos the better. And, no, for an "as is" property you will never see comments about condition other than the generic "handyman special" (or similar). Liability.

by Anonymousreply 38July 2, 2021 4:08 PM

LOL R32 is the "idiot OP"

by Anonymousreply 39July 2, 2021 4:11 PM

I LITERALLY squinted and moved my head in at that slanted ceiling.

Also, never seen a realtor pic of the circuit breaker thingy.

by Anonymousreply 40July 2, 2021 4:52 PM

The ghosts who are haunting it must be real slobs.

by Anonymousreply 41July 2, 2021 5:18 PM

Carmel, NY is trashy anyway.

by Anonymousreply 42July 2, 2021 6:25 PM

This house would cost 10 times as much in Carmel, California.

by Anonymousreply 43July 2, 2021 6:27 PM

Just needs some dusting.

by Anonymousreply 44July 2, 2021 6:36 PM

It looks cute on google streetview. Seems like whoever bought it fucked the place up and vanished.

by Anonymousreply 45July 2, 2021 6:39 PM

R43 Carmel, California wouldn't permit such an eyesore to exist.

by Anonymousreply 46July 2, 2021 6:59 PM

Putnam County? No wonder. The wealthy leftie Brooklynites are not heading to the Repub, retired cop-counties.

My woke town of New Paltz has seen real estate rise 20% in the past year. Same for Kingston.

by Anonymousreply 47July 2, 2021 9:06 PM

[quote] no - there aren't that many leaves. That's probably from the squatters/drug users who brought them

wrong. The leaves are upstairs . And you have leaves upstairs when you have a hole in the roof. The dirt and the moldy bathroom is from the leak in the roof

They have full sized leaves (the size of a man's hands) in the living room. The leaves in the living room and bedrooms are on the outer edges of the rooms. Nobody dragged those leaves in on their feet

I'm an insurance adjuster. I look at roofs and ceilings all day long

by Anonymousreply 48July 2, 2021 10:25 PM

What's so bizarre? Does it upset the notion that every house is put into shipshape for sale and stagers brought in to work magic?

No. This is a shitty house built by someone "in construction" who never quite finished it. Then years later someone starting renovating it but got only as far as ripping some things out: an unfinished aelf-built house that someone tried to half-assedly self-renovate then got divorced or otherwise got distracted and said, "fuck it, sell it for whatever you can get, I'm done."

by Anonymousreply 49July 2, 2021 10:51 PM

Staging by Helen Keller and Company

by Anonymousreply 50July 2, 2021 11:27 PM

That doesn’t scare me at all…I’ve renovated and flipped far worse. If I live near that, I’d buy it in a minute and double my money.

by Anonymousreply 51July 2, 2021 11:54 PM

Yay thanks for doing your part to raise everyone else's rent Ritchie Rich.

by Anonymousreply 52July 3, 2021 12:57 AM

This my tasteful friends, is a great example of piss elegant. Simulated marble bath, 80’s pastel glass chandeliers in a structure that obviously wasnt even from that era. What went on in that house — illegal immigrants, sex trafficking?

by Anonymousreply 53July 3, 2021 1:19 AM

Do The Captains Obvious really think we don't get this is a house meant for flipping and are just having fun with the photos?

So many DLers are the kids who raised their hands to remind the teacher they forgot to write the homework assignment on the board.

by Anonymousreply 54July 3, 2021 1:29 AM

[quote]no - there aren't that many leaves. That's probably from the squatters/drug users who brought them in.

Yeah, those leaves were probably just tracked in by customers who were visiting the Meth Lab in the basement.

by Anonymousreply 55July 3, 2021 1:34 AM

I also think the picture of the electrical box is one (of the many) red flags

It may mean this house doesn't currently have electrical

It probably doesn't not meet minimum occupancy standards - it looks like a teardown to me

You would need an estimate from a contractor to bring it back to minimum occupancy standards

Or an estimate to clear the lot and bring it a condition to rebuild on

by Anonymousreply 56July 3, 2021 1:38 AM

If this house isn't connected to local water and sewer

that's an indication it's been vacant for some time

Most communities require connection to local sewer, water, and other utilities when available

by Anonymousreply 57July 3, 2021 1:41 AM

I like the street it’s on and it has good bones.

by Anonymousreply 58July 3, 2021 1:58 AM

This listing gives the size of the lot but NOT the size of the house

This house can't be legally occupied in it's current condition - they're selling the lot

(and you can pick up those good bones from the curb when they level this dump)

by Anonymousreply 59July 3, 2021 2:07 AM

Good bones like Rocky Dennis...

by Anonymousreply 60July 3, 2021 2:08 AM

You would have to pay to deal with the natural gas lines, sewer, and other issues before you could even start demolition

Get permits, inspections for all of that...before you start to clear the lot

Some flippers don't anticipate surprises that can create expenses that far exceed the original purchase price

by Anonymousreply 61July 3, 2021 2:11 AM

At one point it was a nice-ish place. The stained glass and that gaudy light fixture over the bathtub weren't cheap.
