So many mentions of her on DL are so negative, but I've always had a soft spot for her. In interviews, she seems like a genuine, sensitive person. She's done some great movies—"Working Girl" of course, but "Body Double" and "Something Wild" are bonafide cult classics, and she's also done some more under-the-radar stuff, such as "Stormy Monday" or the gritty "Another Day in Paradise"; in the latter, she played a heroin addict on the run with her insane boyfriend (played by James Woods), and her performance in that was truly tragic. It's probably the best dramatic work she's done, but unfortunately hardly anyone saw that movie. She was very good in "Stormy Monday" too, which she must have filmed either just before or just after she did "Working Girl".
Yet I can never tell the difference between her and ther other one...thingy with the fake orgasm.

She was very good in Night Moves (1975 )with Gene Hackman. She was maybe15 at the time and her sexiness was creepy at the time.

Her disastrous fashion choices in Working Girl revoked her status as a DL icon

I loved her interpretation of Charlotte Haze in the 1997 version of "Lolita." She was a perfect mixture of kittenish/slutty and sad.

1R3 Melanie had been uber sexualized by the time she was an adolescent. She was fucking Don Johnson at 14, when he was a decade older than her—she really got at it young, hard, and fast. I think a lot of the sexuality she exudes in "Night Moves" had very little to do with acting per se—I think that's just how she was.

A lot of people deride Dakota Johnson for not having the charisma or star power that her parents had, but I frankly think Melanie was not a conventional bombshell by any stretch—she was sexy, but in an offbeat way, and she always has had (in my opinion) a slightly quirky, understated screen presence.
