Avenging Angel (1985)
I hadn't seen this movie since 1985 and was shocked I'd forgotten that the 12" version of "Why" by Bronski Beat was the opening theme song.
Although there is a main drag queen character, there are a few male hustlers in there as well. I wonder if the filmmakers were gay because of the choice of a song with explicitly gay lyrics blaring at the long intro.
Oh, and a lesbian is also a main character. Lots of gayness in the movie.
While going to Texas A&M, I worked at a movie theater in Bryan, Texas, when this sequel to 1984's 'Angel' came out in early 1985. I remember thinking that Tim Rossovich (Rick's brother!) was SO hot!

Oh man. As a little gay boy of about 7-
When we would go into the video store- the videotape/cover of Angel fascinated me.
I just knew it was the DIRTIEST and BADDEST movie ever- and I wanted to see it so badly.
My dad would laugh every time we went in and I begged for him to rent Angel. And we'd end up with Annie or some shit.
When I finally saw it a few years ago- it was actually really lurid, campy, and kind of good, actually. I love films that have good LA scenery-
And Susan Tyrell was AWESOME.
