One week on Keto and no longer wake up wanting to off myself

Doing "dirty" Keto only, so far, lost 3 pound this week, and, strangely, have found that I suddenly want to live.

Makes an odd change.

by Anonymousreply 41June 27, 2021 2:39 PM

Exactly my experience with keto. If nothing else, it gets you away from a whole lot of sugar that you do not need. You have to feel better without that shit fucking with your blood sugar.

by Anonymousreply 1June 27, 2021 12:03 PM

Really, r1?? Tell me more, please- If you don't mind, that is.

I'm stunned by this. Happily stunned, but still stunned.

by Anonymousreply 2June 27, 2021 12:10 PM

Please stop, OP. I can smell your Keto breath from here.

by Anonymousreply 3June 27, 2021 12:13 PM

Isn't keto just Atkins 2.0?

by Anonymousreply 4June 27, 2021 12:14 PM

During Covid, I lost 70 pounds in about 7 months eating from a keto foods list. Plenty of vegetables and meats and eggs. A useful selection of fruits, though not expansive. No added sugar.

A strict keto diet limits you to 20 carbs a day. I used an app to track foods and it was extremely helpful. It helped me reconsider portion sizes. Ahem! It helped me track carbs in my food choices and also calories. Each day I was consuming about 40 carbs per day and staying under 1500 calories. And it worked very well. You have to also track calories. It is possible to keep the carbs low and still consume too many calories to effectively lose weight.

Occasionally, it felt restrictive, but by looking at the daily weight recorded in the app, I could not deny that it was working well. So, damn the restriction. Just shut up and eat a strawberry.

Good luck, OP.

by Anonymousreply 5June 27, 2021 12:17 PM

Keto is woke Atkins

by Anonymousreply 6June 27, 2021 12:19 PM

I am the opposite of OP. If I had to do this diet, I would no longer want to live.

by Anonymousreply 7June 27, 2021 12:25 PM

[quote]One week on Keto and no longer wake up wanting to off myself

Are there any upsides?

by Anonymousreply 8June 27, 2021 12:26 PM

OP, you need a psychiatrist, not a diet.

by Anonymousreply 9June 27, 2021 12:29 PM

I have the same experience, OP. I don't follow a strict keto diet, but I do keep careful track of my carbs. I'm in pretty good shape for 50 (ie, dead in gay-years) and well within the recommended weight for my height, but by keeping carbs low I find that I have so much more energy and enthusiasm for Getting Out And Doing Stuff. I rarely have a binge on high-carb foods and always regret it for two or three days afterward. The difference in energy levels is astonishing.

Glad it is working out for you.

by Anonymousreply 10June 27, 2021 12:31 PM

Thank you, r10. You are a genuine fucking inspiration to me.

Thank you.

by Anonymousreply 11June 27, 2021 12:46 PM

Gives me the shits.

by Anonymousreply 12June 27, 2021 12:51 PM

@sylviafowler you are one o the most pshychotic people on this board and I have bee on this board for over 20 years.

by Anonymousreply 13June 27, 2021 1:00 PM

Thanks everyone on here, I can't believe how everything is changed.

I'm worried now because I used to thing of offing myself about a hundred times a day for at least 5 years now, and now I going to have to live.

If you only think of death, you are calm and comfited.

I HATE WANTING TO LIVE

by Anonymousreply 14June 27, 2021 1:12 PM

WTF is “dirty” keto? And do you really believe you’ll never have a piece of cake 🍰, pie 🥧, chocolate 🍫, or anything sweet ever again? Get real.🙄

by Anonymousreply 15June 27, 2021 1:16 PM

Can you drink black coffee on keto?

by Anonymousreply 16June 27, 2021 1:16 PM

How about black coffee in bed?

by Anonymousreply 17June 27, 2021 1:18 PM

I swear these stupid diet fad are so ridiculous. The excitement and energy wears off as soon as you get used to it.

by Anonymousreply 18June 27, 2021 1:23 PM

All you Keto worshippers might want to think twice.

Yes, r15, you extremely odd person who seems to be unable to express themselves in actual WORDS.

Yes, r16, although I now take it with a tiny dollop of the heaviest cream that ever heavied.

Tes, r17 all the time

by Anonymousreply 20June 27, 2021 1:26 PM

Can I drink black coffee in a cabin in the woods?

by Anonymousreply 21June 27, 2021 1:26 PM

You type fat, r19

by Anonymousreply 22June 27, 2021 1:26 PM

Not if you're hot and I'm around, r21

by Anonymousreply 23June 27, 2021 1:28 PM

R22 You type like sheep jumping on a bandwagon.

by Anonymousreply 24June 27, 2021 1:30 PM

Hmm.

Also, sheep don't jump on bandwagons, r24.

Hmm.

by Anonymousreply 25June 27, 2021 1:31 PM

The diet is a distraction…….your sense of worthlessness and low self-esteem will return after the diet fails

by Anonymousreply 26June 27, 2021 1:44 PM

R26 Exactly.

by Anonymousreply 27June 27, 2021 1:45 PM

OP is Yashar Ali

by Anonymousreply 28June 27, 2021 1:48 PM

Some psychiatrists think keto can elevate your mood out of depression and and even act as a mood stabiliser for manic depressives

by Anonymousreply 29June 27, 2021 1:50 PM

Huh, keto actually does have mood-stabilizing effects. I'd never heard that before.

R29 Until they have a slew of other health issues after they’ve fucked up their body. Oh, and they say you can end up putting on more weight than you began with once you quit keto.

by Anonymousreply 31June 27, 2021 1:52 PM

Thank God, so does Effexor, R29 and R30. I eat them like Skittles.

by Anonymousreply 32June 27, 2021 1:55 PM

Effexor made me sweat like a pig, put on 20kg and, and made me impotent....give me keto any day if it works

by Anonymousreply 33June 27, 2021 1:57 PM

[quote] One week on Keto and no longer wake up wanting to off myself

Why do I have this sense that now people who know you want to off you?

Oh that is right you won't shut up about Keto.

by Anonymousreply 34June 27, 2021 2:04 PM

r34 if you found something to treat your treatment resistant clinical depression, you'd tell everyone too

by Anonymousreply 35June 27, 2021 2:05 PM

Two weeks on keto and I wanted to die. Also, made my kidneys hurt like a bitch.

by Anonymousreply 36June 27, 2021 2:17 PM

i lost a lot of weight on keto but it's not sustainable or healthy long term. I only put 4kg back on so I'm doing ok. Low carb. low/no sugar is more reasonable

by Anonymousreply 37June 27, 2021 2:19 PM

R36 I believe it. They say it can fuck with your kidneys.

by Anonymousreply 38June 27, 2021 2:19 PM

"They say?"

Trump is posting here now at R38?

by Anonymousreply 39June 27, 2021 2:22 PM

Don't do the strict 20 carbs per day Keto regimen. Forget about ketosis. It's all miserable.

But you can follow a keto eating plan and moderate it a great deal. You'll be eating healthy foods and losing weight.

Watch the calories first. Then, while staying withing your calorie goals, choose low carb fruits and vegetables to help make your efforts more effective.

Or go eat bread and bagels and pasta and puff pastry and.... See how that works out for you.

by Anonymousreply 40June 27, 2021 2:29 PM

I've been doing my own form of dirty keto too: no wheat, no sugar, very few processed foods. I've lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks and my energy levels are insane. My overall mood is great.

White carbs are the devil. I don't consider this a diet because I plan to eat like this going forwards. The food tastes great once your palate adjusts and you realize how much your taste buds were blurred by all those heavy carbs.
