What do you think DL? Has this cartoon aged like a fine wine, or like a rotten old sock? Were they ever funny?
What's your take on Ace and Gary in 2021?

I LOVED it! Didn't offend me at all.

I always felt it should be called the unambiguously gay duo.

Not offended by it but also not going to miss it.

Today it would have to be called the Ambiguously Privileged Cis White Gay Male Duo.

20+ years is a bit long for the same joke, but it was a great satire of something that went unspoken for years.

It always turned me on.

As usual SNL was simply making fun of gays. Awful, outdated 'humor.'

Jim Carey said they were going to do a movie of it. He started working with a trainer to bulk up and be one of the characters. I wonder what happened.

R9, I would be the first in line to see that. It would have been epic.

I thought they were funny. Also got me thinking about the series of GI Joe PSA parodies which came out about 20 years ago.

I always thought this was funny only to straight boys.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 25, 2021 3:55 PM |
They were hilarious back in the day but it doesnt hold up quite as well now.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 25, 2021 4:19 PM |
I never thought it was anti-gay. It was obvious they were making fun of all those muscle-bound spandex-clad heroes that we're supposed to think are straight because they have a platonic interaction with a woman once a movie.

The funniest part was that the duo had no idea that people thought they were so GAY!

Mr LaFitte is one of the funniest internet clips ever.

R7 - you sure sound like a millennial. In fact the point wasn't to make fun of gay people but rather about how confused straights were about the issue and how "in the closet" it was. Ambiguity is how so many gay people lived. Maybe you should brush up on gay history and then you will understand.

Ace and Gary were not out-and-pround and they were not anti-racist. Problematic.

Didn't Stephen Colbert play one of them?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 25, 2021 8:04 PM |
Fun fact: Steven Colbert was the voice of Ace - the butch bottom.

How about ‘Men on Film?’ I doubt it could be done today, but the gays LOVED it! It was in a huge gay bar in Houston when they played a clip and the whole establishment came to a halt. People loved those skits.

Just two men fighting crime, with rock hard cocks.
