This older woman did exactly what any good defense lawyer would suggest. She admitted guilt, took responsibility, cooperated with LE and showed contrition. Having not been in trouble with law previously *and* being charged with just one misdemeanor count they weren't going to bring back hanging just for her.

Any criminal attorney fortunate enough to have a good mentor somewhere along the line during either law school or afterwards will teach them this one fact. Courts are there to dispense justice, not mete out retribution.

Protesters should get no punishment. Rioters a slap if they were protesters who were labeled rioters when they refused to back down. Looters need to be punished and harshly. They ruin it for everybody.

I’d like them all to be hanged for sedition against the U.S. Any contrition expressed now in court is purely an act. They would all do it again tomorrow if Orange Blob directed them to.

Her punishment is proportionate to her participation. Right wing social media is all up in arms because part of her probation condition is no access to firearms for 3 years. So to them, even this slap on the wrist is "government overreach".

As more cases are settled, we will see the punishments become more severe, unless they turn on their friends. There is the plea deal with the Oath Keeper in the works which he will still spend at least a year in jail and must cooperate in cases against his fellow gang members.
