The recent ITV remake with Marc Warren received negative reviews in comparison to the original show with the great Barry Foster and its hit theme song, but I really enjoyed it. It’s kind of weird in the age of Netflix to see an Amsterdam-set show not using Dutch actors, or at least Dutch accents, but with the exception of the drunk pathologist, all the acting was good.
And Marc Warren is ageing nicely into daddy status.

I enjoyed Season 1 (the Marc Warren one) too, despite the lukewarm reviews. It did well enough to get a second season, which I think they have already finished shooting.

One of the complaints were that Van Der Valk is nicely grizzled in his 50s but dresses young and acts young.
By acts young I guess they mean he’s on Tinder?
The conference room in the local cafe/bar reminded me of the crime sitcom Vexed with Toby Stephens and Lucy Punch. They met in the basement of a juice bar run by Mitch from EastEnders.

Marc Warren looks like a scrappy bantamweight wrestler who could pin a guy four times his size and then fuck the shit out of him. In other words, I quite enjoy the show.
Also, the brother in the diamond family episode was one hot homo. As Momma would say, "Yum!"
