Why is being ashamed of not being masculine enough/too feminine a bad thing? I certainly wasn't the most masculine guy in high school, and looking back, I kind of wish I had been. Maybe I would have had more luck with the girls I was interested in?

Shame isn't necessarily a bad thing. It can act as an impetus to improving oneself.

At the end of the day, your target demographics don't have an obligation to buy what you're selling. The burden is on you to sell what you have to offer.

When I was a 22 year old struggling actor in NYC, and I didn’t know how I was going to pay my next month’s rent, my friend @kevlewbkny very graciously told me that there was a book cover he was working on that I might be right for. That book turned out to be Alex Sanchez’s incredible Rainbow Boys. I was very grateful to have a gig, but I was also terrified that one of the first things I’d done was LGBTQ themed. I had been told my entire life that being gay was a liability in my industry, particularly at that time, and I thought that everyone would know my secret. I thought it might derail my career before it even started.

I wish I could tell my 22 year old self that his ‘secret’ was nothing to be scared or ashamed of, and that even though it would come with challenges, it would ultimately be what made his career rewarding and diverse.

No. He was a regular on his third TV show when he came out. He wasn't forced. His six year relationship with his manager had ended. I suspect his coming out was a semi FU to Podwall.

I like Colton. He's struggled and has really been through it. I hope he's in a good place now.

But things have not gotten better for young, struggling gay actors. There is still the code of silence and it is encouraged, and many have to choose between their sexuality and a possible career.

I'm just glad that Colton has such a huge social media presence which means he doesn't have to worry about booking acting gigs all that much.

Teen shows tend to have piss poor acting and the actors chosen for their beauty. That's why the actors from these shows stay on TV and few become movie stars. Colton stays in his lane and does well. I think he's a good person but obviously insecure and has mental problems which he has admitted to and presumably seeks treatment for. He's at least honest about it unlike 98% of actors who don't admit they are neurotic uneducated basket cases.

R54 I thought Dylan O'Brien was the best actor on Teen Wolf and Colton Haynes became good on Arrow before he left that show and he was better when he returned for their final season and he had to be older than he is. Haynes' acting became better after his outing and being himself in public. I don't know anything about his mental problems but if he's getting help I see his future not as a lead but in supporting roles that work more with his darker side and not the ones where only his look is wanted.

If he signed an agreement stating that he would still give Podwall a percentage, then yes. but normally no. That's an agent thing. Managers do not procure employment so a manager isn't entitled to continued commission.

I think Colton came out at the exact right time. He had reached his peak hotness already and capitalized off it, even straight hotties only have a moment before the next one comes along.

He totally spiraled in his late 20s due to personal drama like his mom's death, substance abuse, etc, and it wouldn't make a difference if he was in the closet or not. Everyone could see he was going through it. Im glad he made it out.

I actually think the spiral started with discovering his ex's cheating. Colton was estranged from his mother for years before reconciling in the run up to her death. Colton's ex was his family, his career guide, his everything.
