Frank Bonner played the sleazy salesman on the hit 70s sitcom. He was 79.
Dang I was just going to add him to the “Celebrities you are shocked to learn are still alive” thread!

I always found him a little hot. Johnny Fever, even moreso.
I know everybody else was hot for Andy, but something about him bugged me despite those stovepipe-legged jeans, which he admittedly filled out quite well.

I have no idea why, but I just thought of this guy a couple days ago. You didn't see him much after WKRP, which seemed odd. I used to confuse him with Fred Willard and Howard Hesseman with Martin Mull (Fred and Martin both being on Fernwood 2 Night).

R4, I don't want to upset you, but I was thinking of you a couple a days ago. Just in case, though, I thought I should let you know.
Best of luck?

Poor Gary Sandy. Grammar doesn't seem to be his strong suit.
He said that Frank "pasted" away. With Elmer's, maybe?

Great show. Great cast. RIP.

Frank Bonner (born Frank Woodrow Boers Jr., February 28, 1942 – June 16, 2021), 79, was an American actor and television director best known for playing sales manager Herb Tarlek on the television sitcom WKRP in Cincinnati.

Was it just… natural causes?

Amazingly, he's only the second regular cast member of the series to die. The first was Gordon Jump who played Mr. "Big Guy" Carlson, who died in 2003 at 71.
Others still alive are:
Loni Anderson as Jennifer is 75
Gary Sandy as Andy is 75
Jan Smithers as Bailey is 71
Howard Hesseman as Johnny is 81
Tim Reid as Venus is 77
Richard Sanders as Les is 81

In her autobiography, "My Life in High Heels", Loni Anderson wrote of her dressing room trysts with Gary Sandy that frequently resulted in rug burns.

"Real Families" was my favorite WKRP episode. Brilliant stuff.

He had a lesbian daughter.

Didn't she have a breakdown a number of years ago?
Tim Reid posted about Bonner's death.

Have Loni Anderson's fake boobs commented?

I loved the ending song on KRP.
Even if the lyrics made no sense, that sound was just the sound of early 80s rust belt to me.

Hard to believe that Les and Johnny Fever are the same age. Les seemed like an old man when the show was on.

He didn’t show moose knuckle and he was forgotten.
Remember, Kids; show bulges early and often.

DL, you're slipping AGAIN.
Who could forget the episode of The New WKRP in Cincinnatti, in which Herb was pursued by Nicholas Walker, he of the late great 1980s CBS soap Capitol?! There was even hot tub action!

Didn't he work on the "Just The 10 Of Us" set as their family priest?
Lots of molestation rumors on that one.
It seems like he disappeared after working there.

Gary Sandy’s jeans should be on display in the Museum of Television History.

I always got him confused with a character actor whose name I don't recall. He was in The Golden Girls episode when Blanche pretends to be selling a Mercedes.
