I like Kelly - she is really good on the show, she is just a natural. Ryan is OK and better than most of the other co-hosts she has had. He at least brings a lot of stories and knows a lot of famous people to talk about. It's still weird to me that he does this morning show - it seems like a step down for him somehow.

Of all the morning shows, I like this one the best. They never talk about politics, which keeps it light.

Ryan is gay? Didn’t he have a me too moment? I don’t believe he is gay. He would date himself if he could, but he reminds me of someone I went to school with that was spoiled and pampaered to the point where he had to be a loner because nobody else could afford to keep up or had the same type of 24/7 pampering and privilege. He was withdrawn because no one else could relate to being that spoiled and he was up moms ass all day and night and he would eschew anyone who ever questioned him or did not treat him like a royal price. He was benign for the most part, just intensely spoiled and couldn’t relate to others. But not gay. He ended up with a woman eventually after turning almost 40 and she was basically a spoiled princess so they made a good match.

People like that can’t cut it in normal crowds. They are not mean, just aloof and can’t relate. The slightest inconvenience or challenge is met with withdrawing and shutting that person off forever. Ryan reminds me of a famous version of this guy. They become hermits because even around other people with some privilege, they still have a hard time finding anyone who is as pampered and sheltered.

Ryan is aloof and withdrawn because he doesn't want anyone to know that he is a homosexualist.

Personally, I believe Ryan Seacrest is gay. However, putting the gay thing aside, Seacrest is kind of like Aaron Schock in that they knew what they wanted to do in life from a very early age and then became obsessed about it--or at least went for it in the most dedicated, driven way. Seacrest was interested in broadcasting very early on, and he worked at it when he was a teenager, so he saw a career path a a very young age.

Schock wanted to be in politics and got into the political arena in some capacity before he was 21, then became the youngest member of Congress ever elected at the time. I don't know if they were nerds or anti-social at a young age, but they were driven more so than other kids their age. By doing so, they put their sexuality aside to fulfill their dreams. They also could have hid the sexuality behind their ambition to fulfill their dreams.

In either case, pursuing their dream removed them from their average peer group who was still fumbling around trying to decide what to major in while in college. Seacrest and Schock already had that figured out years before anyone else. So now at relatively young ages, they both have the drive to pursue more and more. Their ambition hasn't gone away even if it has taken them down very diverse and different paths exploring any opportunities that might get them even more money, power, position, etc. It's knowing what you want to do in life at a very early age that very well could help enormously in life. No guarantees, but it helps.

Years ago, I spent a lot of time with a man in the early aughts (he was so beautiful and much older than me) that knew Ryan and worked closely with Ryan. He said that Ryan wasn't gay, he was very hyper-focused on his career and how people perceived him, he was a control freak, and he was also kind of an asshole.

I'm not even sure how we got started talking about him but I am sure I would have eaten that man's ass on my dinnertable if he wanted me to, he was SO HOT.

Of course he could still be gay but I think that's the only person who I trust (from my past) who I know spent a lot of time with him.

Ryan gets excited when the male body builders come on the show - happened last week - and telling stories of a male roommate ( they slept in the same bedroom but not the same bed) who made rubbing skin on skin noises every night. Gay gay gay.

When American Idol premiered, Ryan was a tanned and bleached twink with a cute-but-froggy face. I think his appearance attracted a lot of young viewers (including me) and was part of the show's success, but I've always been rather bewildered by his success since I don't really understand what sets his hosting talent apart from anyone else's. I know a big part of his financial success and power in Hollywood as a producer came from the dreaded Kardashian empire, but that came after he was already wealthy and a household name and called "the hardest-working man in Hollywood" for years.

I don't dislike him per se, and I don't dislike Kelly Ripa per se, because they're both vapid and bland and there's as little to dislike as there is to like. I don't watch their show but I have been exposed to their show in various places and it strikes me as just an inane way to fill air time on a broadcast network. I do recall that when Regis Philbin died, he was roundly praised for his talent of being able to fill an hour of time every day improvisationally with no real material, which apparently is very challenging for people to do. And Kelly evidently thrived as the best replacement for Kathie Lee because she was able to chatter about nothing and make it entertaining to daytime audiences in the same way.

Their show is certainly no less vapid than a lot of other shit on TV, from Big Brother and Love Island to anything on the Bravo or E! networks. I do find some reality shows a little more entertaining, but certainly no more fortifying. I know my brain has become exponentially lazier from the time I finished grad school, when I barely watched TV, to now.

It's clear she has zero interest in doing the show and has been pretty much phoning it in since Michael Strahan left. She's probably still pissed over the way she was treated by ABC and Strahan. It's common knowledge in the industry that she holds grudges. Rosie even admitted to that.
