Can we do so? Are we better able to do so because sexual arousal is not an issue?
As gay men, how do we objectively evaluate beauty in women?

Yes!! I thought Farrah Fawcett was so beautiful that I put a poster of her up in my room. As a gay man I appreciated and recognized her great beauty but was not sexually attracted to her.

The "gay men" who evaluate female beauty or call them hot, are bisexual.
I evaluate male beauty ONLY, because I'm GAY, and I only find men hot because I'm GAY.

I think we judge women based on how closely they fit into the standard commercial version of "beauty". Could she be an actor or model, if no then how close is she to that standard. I think that's what gay men do when they evaluate a women's looks.

Some of you are being ridiculous. Of course we can all objectively evaluate beauty in women as well as men. I'm as gay as can be, but I can identify women who are objectively beautiful. I just don't want to see them naked.

When gay men post threads whining about how life is so unfair to them because they're gay....
I remember threads like this.
Gentlemen, please remember: there is more to life than "objectively evaluating beauty in women."

Everybody is able to evaluate beauty. Straight men evaluate male attractiveness constantly, they just don't talk about it.

I remember a story years ago where an experiment was done with a group a kindergarten aged kids where they had two different teachers teach them on two separate days. One was plain, the other one drop dead gorgeous. Both the same age and same teaching style. When the kids were asked who was the better teacher and who they liked more they all said the pretty teacher was better.

As gay men how do we objectively evaluate beauty in a painting or a bunch of flowers or a landscape vista or designer clothing or in nature or in animals or in architecture?
See where I'm going OP?....

Given the prevalence of gay men in the fashion, make-up and fashion photography worlds, I think it's bizarre that gay men who are discussing the topic of female beauty are automatically labelled by some here as bisexual.

It’s funny that someone would think that they’re better able to perceive beauty just because they don’t want to shag the person they’re judging.
That’s incredibly stupid to say or think, since beauty is always subjective and not all gay men like the same things or people.

Yes, I definitely can observe that a member of the opposite sex is conventionally attractive. It still leaves me dead romantically and sexually, that's all.

R26? I always assumed that the idea of beautiful female models being broad-shouldered, slim-hipped, and flat-chested came about because of the myriad of gay men in the fashion industry. I mean, "real women" (whatever that term means) tend to have wider hips and bigger breasts than fashion models (and I don't mean fat women, just ordinary slim women).
IMHO, gay men judge female beauty in relation to their standards of male beauty. Just my two cents.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 17, 2021 9:45 AM |
R29, I agree. I'm often struck by the fact that the straight men whom I find attractive have girlfriends who don't seem to me to be their boyfriends' equivalent in the looks department - i.e. they're shorter, overly large breasts (from my gay perspective), wide hips, etc.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 17, 2021 10:42 AM |
I think we're the best judges of female beauty. We don't judge with envy like some women do and we don't judge with a bias of sexual attraction.
