Cristiano Ronaldo READS COCA-COLA TO FILTH!

Cause $4 billion drop in market price.

by Anonymousreply 113June 19, 2021 5:55 PM

Could someone give us some context please?

by Anonymousreply 1June 15, 2021 10:27 PM

Djokovic has talked about how he's never drunk Coca Cola too. They think it's unhealthy (which it is, to be fair).

by Anonymousreply 2June 15, 2021 10:32 PM

CR7 was sitting down for a press conference, noticed two Coca-Cola bottles on the desk in front of him, moved them away with disgust, lifted up a bottle of water, and said something like "Ugh - Coca-Cola".

Coke's stock price took an immediate hit.

It's hard for Americans to understand the power of world soccer.

by Anonymousreply 3June 15, 2021 10:38 PM

r3, specially in Latin America.

by Anonymousreply 4June 15, 2021 10:39 PM

About time.

by Anonymousreply 5June 15, 2021 10:40 PM

He probably felt like he was giving Coke free advertising by sitting behind the bottles and that's why he moved them. I'm sure if they offered him 10 million to star in a 10 second ad he wouldn't be so high and mighty. I'm not impressed.

by Anonymousreply 6June 15, 2021 10:40 PM

If you watched the video at the link, it made clear how he won't promote unhealthy products. His children aren't allowed chocolate. They eat fruit instead.

by Anonymousreply 10June 15, 2021 10:47 PM

Are you African-American, OP?

Does the word 'read' allude to reading the Bible?

by Anonymousreply 17June 15, 2021 10:57 PM

I assume they're both derived from Southern Baptist churches.

No chocolate for those adorable children? He's an insufferable cunt!

by Anonymousreply 19June 15, 2021 11:04 PM

“Reads to filth” it’s one of the stupidest expressions - you sound like a complete moron, OP.

by Anonymousreply 20June 15, 2021 11:05 PM

Where’s the reading to filth, you dumb fuck? He moved coke bottles out of the way.

R94 In France we drink Orangina, not Fanta, but cokes (all of them) sell way more than fruit sodas and ice tea. The slogan of Orangina is "Shake it, or the pulp stay at the bottom", their old ads are really fun. But you're not suppose to drink it every day, it's more like now, when it's really hot, or you're having guests and have an apéritif.

[quote] list of all his sponsors. LFC is one of them.

Somewhere in Glasgow, Steven Gerrard stops in his light midday jog, and claws and clutches at a sudden inexplicable stabbing pain in his chest. As he catches his breath, he makes a mental reminder to take Nando’s picture off his phone lockscreen, and ask Redders to tell Frank to stop spamming ‘I miss you’ texts.

by Anonymousreply 98June 16, 2021 1:15 PM

R85 and I still remember how tragically he used to play.

People forget that he didn’t come to Man United a full-fledged superstar, and that the club didn’t actually want him, particularly. MUFC first bid the money they eventually spent on him to try and get Ronaldinho (Barça gazumped them), and on signing ‘Ronaldo’ instead initially failed to clarify which one they meant. Fans were so let down to get a pasty, spotty, unknown little gremlin, and the reception only grew worse when it became apparent that this new teen signing was a fanny-merchant, a cameo, and a show-pony. It was all just sloppy juvenile stepovers, dives, and pointless charges into open space for his entire first half-season. You could see Roy Keane slowly losing what was left of his mind trying to get Ronnie to just fecking play the ball right.

In fairness, though, Cristiano just absorbed the first few years of criticism, and used it to charge his power for an eventual rise to glory. He really showed his detractors what was what.

by Anonymousreply 99June 16, 2021 1:26 PM

He won’t allow Junior to eat a single Haribo. Poor kid is going to grow up so deprived of normal little childhood pleasures, and will find it harder to relate to other kids I expect.

by Anonymousreply 109June 19, 2021 4:29 PM

There was talk about Ronaldo playing for the US or coaching here after retirement. Hopefully that does not happen.

by Anonymousreply 110June 19, 2021 4:33 PM

R110 that won’t happen, don’t worry. Cristiano does not have the necessary psychological resilience or the correct set of drives for a manager or coach, so even if he tries it out as a second career, he’ll give up quickly once he sees what it entails.

See, success in top-flight football management means almost the opposite as success in playing. A manager has to be so mentally unshakeable, and willing (even eager) to endure the ire and hatred of everyone around (sometimes including players). It’s a rewarding role, but I daresay it’s not fun, and if it is fun then you’re doing it wrong and won’t be in the job for long.

The greatest managers in history tend to have a similar profile—unremarkable former players who left the game young or early in their career (sometimes against their will, due to not being good enough or due to outside pressures). A feeling of unfinished business in football drives them on to seek the success they could not on the pitch.

Finally, managers subsume everything into their team and their players, usually sacrificing family time, outside pursuits & lesiure, and various other freedoms that highly-successful top-flight retired players take for granted. Managers support and back every players they have, especially the ones who are not with the program at first, underperforming, or not as strong and skilled as the manager/coach may have been at the same age or level.

Personally, I can see Cristiano making a really good trainer, or an ambassador in the game (especially for disadvantaged youth). Perhaps I’m too cynical or bitter as a non-fan, but I just don’t think he can bring anything to the table in terms of management & coaching.
