HBO Max sucks

Glitches. Black-outs. Cuts off in the middle of shows. Today, even though I live in the U.S., a message popped up saying HBO Max is only available in the U.S. and certain terrotories. Um, hello!? That's IT! Cancelled. Fucking SUX!!!

What sucks most about it is all the trans propaganda.

by Anonymousreply 1June 14, 2021 10:32 PM

And they say there's no such thing as cancel culture.

I was watching Hacks and during the last ten minutes of episodes, it was only advance a second at a time.

I have glitches when I stream shows on nbc.com and abc.com. NBC shows jump five seconds ahead in the first scene in most shows. And sometimes, NBC shows will stop playing/start buffering when there are four minutes left to go. ABC gets blurry from time to time, and when I refresh the screen, it makes the closed captioning stop. I can't turn the CC back on again without rebooting my computer.

It's awful on my tv (which has Roku installed) but I don't have any problems when I watch on my phone or tablet. I tried watching John Oliver this morning and it kept glitching so I switched to the tablet and it was smooth sailing.

I joined a month ago and ready to cancel. The Roku app sucks - it takes forever to load and forget trying to navigate. The interface is the worst of any streaming service out there. And if I am lucky enough to get it to load long enough to select something to watch, I get bounced out 5 minutes into what ever I am watching. I've tried any recommended fix out there and do not have this trouble with any other streaming app. And yes, I know I should call and speak with the Manager.

R5 It's the same with me when i watch use my iPad or phone to watch things. I have a Firestick on my TV and sometimes HBO Max works, other times it doesn't. The weird thing is the app worked fine during the Mare of Easttown finale.

A lot of these apps suck. Streaming is hit or miss. I wish we would stick with tv.

HBO max, as an app, sucks ass

HBO max always streamed in hi-def, then the day Conjuring 3 came out it switched to low. Or the movie will start in high & transition to low res. Only only tv via PS4, never on the iPad.

R6 here. I discovered the same R9. What an embarrassment for a service that carries the HBO name. I do not have this problem with ANY other streaming service. AT&T/Warner should be ashamed.

by Anonymousreply 11June 30, 2021 11:33 AM

I haven’t had any problems watching through Apple TV. My internet is good. Could that be the problem for some?

by Anonymousreply 12June 30, 2021 11:38 AM

I just paid $2000 dollars for an LG OLED TV only to discover HBO Max doesn’t make an app for their interface because AT&T signed an exclusivity deal with Samsung.

AT&T will go down as an even worse merger than AOL Time Warner.

R6 / R11 here. I pay for the best internet I can buy because I need it for other purposes, R12.

by Anonymousreply 15June 30, 2021 11:27 PM

Two people can’t watch the same movie at the same time.

What a crock of shit.

by Anonymousreply 16June 30, 2021 11:34 PM

R13 You shouldn't be using the TV for apps like HBO Max. TV companies are not software companies, their apps are glitchy and rarely updated. Just spring for an Apple TV (which is a box like a Roku) and you'll be fine.
