Or do you feel sorry for him?
Does it warm your heart to know that Joseph Mccarthy spent his last years a drunken miserable mess

Who? Melissa McCarthy’s father?

It's well known and easily googled that he was addicted to heroin, morphine and other opiates.

Yes. He was a pile of shit human being and created/inflicted a lot of damage of society. Closer to home - he led a witch hunt on homosexuals in the 1950s and destroyed untold lives with smear campaigns.
he was a deeply repulsive person and he richly deserved to die slowly and painfully.

He didn't go far enough

We're 100 years behind thanks to knuckle draggers like him. Republicans are cancer

True R4. His desecrated dead body should have been ejected from Earth and sent into space with all the other junk.

Stalin was even more homophobic.

Feeling anything for him would be about 60 years too late? Delayed reactions for boomers, I guess.

It is still astonishing to me how quickly the McCarthy situation escalated, then collapsed, then ended with his death over the course of about six years. In 1950 McCarthy was this loathed, drunken Senator who was punching reporters in the dick. By 1952 he was suddenly gaining popularity, and was good friends with the powerful Kennedy family, and Eisenhower didn't feel he could say much against him without risking votes and/or popularity. In 1953 the Senate gave McCarthy what they thought was a dull and pointless subcommittee role, but by early 1954, it became the Army-McCarthy hearings. The Edward R. Murrow expose was three months later, and McCarthy's official censure was about six months after that. He would only live 2 1/2 more years.
When you look back on it, it feels like it must have been a decade, but his heyday was really only from 1952 to early 1954, with a short decline ending in an early death in 1957.

Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were guilty as sin. Those commie breeders got what they deserved.

So you think gay men deserve to die of AIDS, R10? I will remember that when Danny Pintauro dies.

I've said often that Ted Cruz is McCarthy's twin, in both looks and ideology. And I sincerely hope he ends up just like McCarthy.

Julius Rosenberg was guilty. David Greenglass admitted that he lied about his sister Ethel. His wife was the other person in the conspiracy; however, she was the mother of his children. Greenglass attributed to Ethel that which his wife had done.
