What a premise. Mom was a slut who slept with both men around the same time, one of who’s the real dad. I think Nicole is Joey’s. Between the two, Staci Keanan could pass more as Greg Evigan’s daughter than Paul Reiser’s. Side note: Evigan was a a hot piece of ass
Are you watching this right now Op? It’s on right now.

It's so strange how such a premise could be used without almost nobody thinking about gay families. Our culture really has changed.

"My Two Dads" and "Kate and Allie" were the gay parenting shows of the 80's, as far as I'm concerned.

This show looks absolutely awful which piques my interest. I know Staci Keanan mainly from Step by Step which was more along the "so bad it's good" category and that hottie Chad Allen had a thread here

That “kooky artist’s loft” they lived in. Spotlessly clean with a traffic light, a pink car, random pastel lights neon and just the right amount of mismatched furniture. A tween girl’s idea of how an artist lives.
Oh yeah, and the most elaborate art installation on the show — Paul Reiser’s wig.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 14, 2021 4:04 AM |
I never watched this show and have two questions, given the era in which it was made. How tight were Greg’s jeans in this? Did The young Paul Reiser have a decent ass?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 14, 2021 4:11 AM |
Greg wore super tight jeans and Paul had a flat ass.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 14, 2021 4:25 AM |
Ah, the 80s. Only back then could a sitcom premise where a woman who ho’d around with two guys and didn’t know which one knocked her up pass as fun family entertainment.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 14, 2021 4:28 AM |
It's been on one of those cable channels that show 80's sitcoms and I've watched it on occasion. Florence Stanley who played Judge Margaret W. Wilbur was the funniest on the show.

Count me in as another who watched because Greg Evigan was so fucking hot. I think I was only 11 but I thought this man with the beard was so sexy. I guess I was supposed to like Chad Allen but not with Greg around.

Dick Butkus was on the show too. I would have loved to have gone to the Y with him and Greg Evigan.
If I remember correctly, there was a scene in which a pair of bikini underwear were found in the living room, and Greg admitted they were his. Why didn't we get to see him in those?

IMO Evigan was one of the 3 hottest men to ever grace the TV screen. The only negative was that his skin tight jeans showed that his love machine was minuscule at best. Never once did I see even a hint of moundage.

"I Love the 80s" on VH1 mentioned this show in one episode. I'm still intrigued by stuff like Small Wonder and Alf and how that made it on the air. Very few 80s sitcoms survived in syndication. It seemed like there was an oversaturation of sitcoms and only the few iconic ones were selected for syndication like The Golden Girls, Cheers and The Cosby Show. Even TV Land and Nick at Nite never had that much 80s sitcoms on its roster

[italic]Punky Brewster[/italic] doesn't belong on the list unless you count Cherie's mother and father who died in a car accident; Punky's mom abandoned her, but her death was never confirmed dead (unless the reboot took care of that). [italic]Silver Spoons[/italic] does not count either since Ricky's mother was still alive, just no longer married to his father who later remarried.
[italic]Gimme A Break![/italic] on the other hand started with a dead mother and ended with a dead father on the show and in real life. [italic]Webster[/italic] buried both the mother and the father off-camera beforehand.
But nothing compares to how [italic]Diff'rent Strokes[/italic] pre-emptively killed off not only Arnold and Willis's parents, but Kimberly's mother along with them.

R57 Cosby did not do great in syndication even before the whole scandal.
I remember this on I love the 80s - they had some kind of graph - of Greg Evigans career on the decline and Paul Reisner’s career on the rise, and this show was where the twain shall intersect.
R54 pretty sure she’s Jewish IRL, so makes sense she wouldn’t be a fundie.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | June 15, 2021 1:47 AM |
Having a dead parent or being orphaned puts the child at a disadvantage and evokes empathy from the viewer/reader. That's why nearly every fairy tale kid is an orphan or has a step parent. Add to the mix men raising girls or babies and there is another disadvantaged situation (traditionally speaking).

VCRs came around and made it possible for people who liked shows enough to watch them more than once to tape them. That took a chunk out of the repeat business. Why would you watch a cut-down version of something when you taped the original broadcast before they cut it for syndication? Also, [italic]The Oprah Winfrey Show[/italic] became big in syndication and TV stations would rather have tried to capitalize on the success of that rather than pay out the nose for second-hand content.
The oversaturation of the late 1980s balanced out a lot of early cancellations in the late 1970s that left stations with a short supply of "new" old shows to rerun.

Nicole's actual paternity is never revealed on the show, but in the episode "Pop, the Question," Michael and Joey — after a falling out — have a DNA test to determine which of them is Nicole's biological father. The test is conducted against Nicole's wishes; she is happier not knowing who her true father is, and she destroys the results before opening them. Michael and Joey later resolve their differences and reconcile. Judge Wilbur looks at the results, but throws them away without revealing them to the audience.

The actresses that played Karen and Al were both pretty. Their careers never took off after SBS. Many of the child actors on that show retired in fact.
