On today's show, Kate mentioned how ingenious Andre was to fake his blindness to get back at John and Kristen for their betrayal. Hello - I was around in the late 90's and had to suffer through that cringy story where Kristen was dating and then engaged to her step-brother Tony. Tony later faked being blind to guilt Kristen into staying with him out of obligation. When did they retcon this so that it was really Andre-pretending-to-be-Tony?

R10, I was watching back then too and I don’t remember that storyline at all.

Andre pretending to be Tony was a retcon around 2006 or so. "Tony" had been killed and it was revealed that Andre was the dead one, and Tony was on the island. Tony came back to Salem, and then was killed again (but not really).

I forget how Andre came back from the dead in the 2010s.

This EJ lacks the swagger of the old EJ. That's what it is. This guy doesn't have that devilish smile. I hope it all works out, but Days isn't really doing it for me these days. The shows seems to be in a lull.

This is nothing against Ron, because I think he's the perfect fit for the show, but I wouldn't be mad if they gave him a writing partner to sort of inject some new blood into the storytelling. I like most of his stuff, but some of the eye winking is starting to get on my nerves.

R16: Given some of the crazy retcons they've done over the years, Bonnie as Adrienne's twin sister would actually be one of the most plausible.

1) Duke Johnson was as vile, loathsome & sadistic as they come. It's fairly easy to imagine him flying into a rage upon learning Jo gave birth to twins (he couldn't afford two mouths to feed, etc.) and forcing her into a "Sophie's Choice" of sorts. Or he could have taken little "Bonnie" away one night while Jo was asleep.

2) Duke was an identical twin.

The only thing that seems implausible about it to me: Jo taking that secret to her grave. (she is dead, right?) Unless....maybe she was under sedation & didn't even know she'd delivered twins?

Marlena should drop Marilyn McCoo a line letting her know she’s got ‘one more bell to answer’ back in Salem. Tamra will straighten out her jive sister & slutty niece, send ‘em packing and lift everyone up back up where they belong.

4. Crazy Claire should go find ‘Real’ Theo, brings him back, while Ben kidnaps NuTheo, takes him to the cabin and DOES start a fire this time. Real Theo backs off the ‘Cin’ wedding, because he finally admits he’s gay, which Ben & Claire knew of course. Now Ben can be with Ciara forever and he immediately pits her a strict diet & workout regimen.

Just going by what I've been seeing online (message boards, social media, etc) A LOT of Days viewers are tired of the Ben and Ciara story and can't wait for it to be over. Much dislike for Victoria Konefal for her acting and the characterization, although the latter is not her fault. Also many criticizing Ben and Ciara's status as a "supercouple", Konefal's departures which limits plots, Ben's past, the show apparently revisiting Bo and Hope (viewers will soon be reminded of Hope's near-wedding to Larry Welch), etc

Marla is now 90 years old. I can't believe that they think they're going to get a ratings bump with some actress most don't know is still alive or had prior soap experience (Passions). She looks like the Grim Reaper is ready for her in the above photo now. Hopefully when she airs DOOL will help her out some with hair & makeup but with the budget what it is now I'm not holding my breath.

Why can't that cute bell hop or T from years past be a best friend option to Tripp? Whatever happened to JJ's best friend or even Joey (if we're stuck to stinkface Kayla & grandpa Steve in the cast for the foreseeable future) who came back for a couple episodes in the not to distant past? It had nothing to do with Will in 2017 or not being interested. Also, Stacy’s Susan is awful. You also need both characters played by one actress. They really should do A Tale of Two Kristens and have Eileen’s Kristen expose Stacy’s Kristen as a fraud and then the show could give Stacy her own original character.

Ryan Quan was Dena Higley's co-hw later on after Dena was rumored to have gotten Josh Griffith fired from Days and she came back from her "sabbatical". After Dena was finally fired, Ryan was demoted from co-hw to creative consultant, who is supposed to help Ron.

I've always heard or read that Dena doesn't write, she pitches and leaves the day to day to stuff to others. Basically, she comes up with the idea and the breakdown writers have to develop it. I wonder if that's true.

NBC needs to take another axe to the budget where most of the 50+ actors are made recurring like Doug & Julie. I'm not missing Hope or Jennifer. The only senior I'd miss seeing weekly would be Kate but the way she has screwed up her face makes the Jake storyline hard to swallow. I'm glad it's finally over & he is back with Gabi.

Also dump all of these grade school performers. No Rachel or Carver twins need to be seen. That's why God invented day care & boarding schools. Add the senior & grade school actor savings to new sets & younger more affordable full time actors.

I agree that they need to bring in younger characters to drive story, but the privilege of soaps is getting to see actors throughout their lives. Maggie, Victor, Marlena, John, Abe, Julie, Doug, Kate.....even Roman....bring something special to the mix. The show is only really surviving because they've stuck around.

I do agree that there could be cuts. Fire the above characters, Rafe too, and bring in a headwriter who can write real people. No masks, no back from the dead serum, no brain chips. Real people, real challenges, family dynamics, friendships.

Jake (since he has been connected to Gabi) is also driving the show's ratings more than Julie. I like Doug & Julie but those are the facts.

Gwen has been on fire since she joined the show. Roman? He is now an extra on this show. He's no ratings driver that's for sure or they would use him more. He's been out to lunch for at least half a decade on this show. More 18-49 viewers would rather see Lani in a towel (or Eli) than Roman or Abe.

John & Marlena were off the show for awhile & the show kept getting renewed. Recently, the show got renewed for 2 more years with the NBC brass knowing full well that Maggie & Victor would be off canvas for most of the past 6 months. These 4 senior actors are NOT keeping the show on the air regardless how much your personal opinion thinks so. These are not my personal opinions but rather obvious facts.

On DR, they had some posts by FCF where he said he will not being going back to DAYS.

Unfortunately, the soap opera model is very strange in that if you have young hot actors who gain popularity and viewers, the actors typically take the gamble and leave their soap job when their contracts run out. They hope to go on to do movies and other projects. Sometimes they end up becoming film superstars, sometimes they end up doing Hallmark movies, and sometimes they end up hanging out in a parking lot in Phoenix, AZ. Very rarely do they come back. There was something strange about the 80’s where “super couples” developed and the actors and actresses stayed on the soaps forever and didn’t end up leaving. It’s very hard hard to bring in the 20-30 something set and have them age with the show. Which is why you are stuck with the now 60-90yo legacy characters and a constantly SORASed “nu-teens” crowd - and very little in between.

Whenever a name actor (or a super couple) exits the show, their fan bases always say the show can't go one without them.

DOOL survived WiSon's 2 exits, Ejami leaving, Bope leaving (& Bo's death now for several years), Lexie, Stefano, etc. etc.

When you have 30+ characters to focus on the other fan bases enjoy their time in the spotlight.

This show's history proves no single actor or couple can bring in to it's end.

The writing, the budget or the demo might do that but it won't be a couple of diva actors who aren't getting their way.

Applying body makeup takes too much time for the breakneck pace of taping these days.

R132 GH has recently been showing some of their characters in swimwear at a pool but no men in Speedos.

Days current ratings are just awful as are the other 3 but Days has been even worse.

R141 Days had Ben and Tripp in summer swimwear a couple of weeks ago (pic from scene below), and both guys were shirtless when they hauled the dead body out of the water in that episode.

And while I only sometimes see the beginning of B&B, I couldn't help but notice that they recently opened the show with the luscious Lawrence Saint-Victor standing there in his snug underwear about four episodes in a row. .. What a beautiful man.

Y&R is the worst. Many of the characters aren't even dressed in anything reflecting Spring-Summer fashion.

Nooo. Drake is fine as ever as the white-haired daddy, he looks remote and handsome. More Drake for me!

Drake has aged incredibly well. He looks rested and natural. Even Dee, with her face work, looks good. Except for a few bouts with Botox bloating a few years back, Dee still looks like Dee and is not pulled back and overly tight.

Did Cher and Dee share the same surgeon in the Nineties? They both had that trademark younger but not youthful look. That was some good quality work. Whoever did it made them especially clean around the lower face.

A possession flashback: John, Caroline, and a priest have dinner with the SUCCUBUS... When Drake wasn't playing the hero he could be seen giggling his way through a lot of the possession storyline.

At this point, I don't excited about any returns. Most are very short term and/or don't have much story to them. The last time Rex returned - wasn't that when Sarah was drugged and taken to the island by Kristen? He had a couple of scenes and lines about Sarah leaving Salem then Rex was gone the same episode.

Some random thoughts:

The Sarah exit storyline had too many holes in it. I hope that will get fixed when Rex returns. I wouldn't mind if they brough Sarah back. I liked the previous actress, but I always thought that Melissa Archer would be perfect for that role.

Another character that should have been recast is Eric. I still don't understand why Ciara wasn't recast. If you can recast Bo Brady, Kristen Blake and EJ Dimera, then you can recast Eric and Ciara.

I fast forward Paulina, Lani and Eli and Chanel. Eli is too fucking hot to be in this mess.

The guy playing Johnny is hot, but I was expecting something a little swarthy.
