OMG! Ray Villeda quits NBC NY to go to work in Orlando for Foxnews!!
Though always a total pro, Ray always gave the news a certain fabulousness!
All of his NBC colleagues are commenting on Instagram, some of them seem quite surprised. Now our local NBC news station will have no gay male reporters!
Do we know why he is leaving? Is there a backstory?

He will certainly blend in.

Where are my local New Yorkers !?

Going to a Fox affiliate isn’t the same as joining Fox News. The new role includes anchoring and he didn’t have that opportunity in New York.

Congratulation to Ray for escaping the shithole.

We should assume WNBC did not renew his contract.

Because no one on earth would want to leave NYC for a better job opportunity, right R8?

Actually, that was the strong opinion of someone who has been in the industry for decades and knows salaries and the best stepping stones.

R9, you don’t go from a major market like New York to go to Florida by your own choice.
People in that profession from Florida aspire to New York.
That said, I’m going to miss my little hottie.

R11 You do if you are offered a promotion from reporter to anchor. Who says he won't work up in anchoring back to NYC or another major market?

Another Ithaca College graduate. I wonder if he and David Tyler Muir get together for “reunions”?

How much are they paying him?

Follow the money.
Whether his NBC contract wasn't renewed or he's being paid substantially to move. Either way, follow the money.

"People in that profession from Florida aspire to New York."
R 12 is correct. "You do if you are offered a promotion from reporter to anchor. Who says he won't work up in anchoring back to NYC or another major market."

Ray anchored once, I think, in New York. He actually posted on Instagram that he was going for a "reporter/anchor" job....which does not sound all that great, to be honest.

Then don't take it, R 17.

Yes, r17, Ray anchored on the weekend once.
I was in heaven watching it.
