OMG! Ray Villeda quits NBC NY to go to work in Orlando for Foxnews!!

Though always a total pro, Ray always gave the news a certain fabulousness!

All of his NBC colleagues are commenting on Instagram, some of them seem quite surprised. Now our local NBC news station will have no gay male reporters!

Do we know why he is leaving? Is there a backstory?

by Anonymousreply 19June 15, 2021 12:36 PM

He will certainly blend in.

by Anonymousreply 1June 12, 2021 4:55 AM

Nobody else?

by Anonymousreply 2June 12, 2021 9:17 AM

No one cares.

by Anonymousreply 3June 12, 2021 11:58 AM

Who?

by Anonymousreply 4June 12, 2021 12:08 PM

Where are my local New Yorkers !?

by Anonymousreply 5June 12, 2021 3:33 PM

Going to a Fox affiliate isn’t the same as joining Fox News. The new role includes anchoring and he didn’t have that opportunity in New York.

by Anonymousreply 6June 12, 2021 5:28 PM

Congratulation to Ray for escaping the shithole.

by Anonymousreply 7June 12, 2021 10:51 PM

We should assume WNBC did not renew his contract.

by Anonymousreply 8June 13, 2021 1:46 PM

Because no one on earth would want to leave NYC for a better job opportunity, right R8?

by Anonymousreply 9June 13, 2021 4:14 PM

Actually, that was the strong opinion of someone who has been in the industry for decades and knows salaries and the best stepping stones.

by Anonymousreply 10June 13, 2021 11:33 PM

R9, you don’t go from a major market like New York to go to Florida by your own choice.

People in that profession from Florida aspire to New York.

That said, I’m going to miss my little hottie.

by Anonymousreply 11June 13, 2021 11:46 PM

R11 You do if you are offered a promotion from reporter to anchor. Who says he won't work up in anchoring back to NYC or another major market?

by Anonymousreply 12June 13, 2021 11:51 PM

Another Ithaca College graduate. I wonder if he and David Tyler Muir get together for “reunions”?

by Anonymousreply 13June 13, 2021 11:58 PM

How much are they paying him?

by Anonymousreply 14June 14, 2021 12:05 AM

Follow the money.

Whether his NBC contract wasn't renewed or he's being paid substantially to move. Either way, follow the money.

by Anonymousreply 15June 14, 2021 12:07 AM

"People in that profession from Florida aspire to New York."

R 12 is correct. "You do if you are offered a promotion from reporter to anchor. Who says he won't work up in anchoring back to NYC or another major market."

by Anonymousreply 16June 14, 2021 1:03 AM

Ray anchored once, I think, in New York. He actually posted on Instagram that he was going for a "reporter/anchor" job....which does not sound all that great, to be honest.

by Anonymousreply 17June 15, 2021 1:07 AM

Then don't take it, R 17.

by Anonymousreply 18June 15, 2021 11:24 AM

Yes, r17, Ray anchored on the weekend once.

I was in heaven watching it.
