It certainly does soune like a karaoke version of the original.

Gaga is savvy. She gets attention for issuing covers of her own old album, which will profit her through cover sales. She sounds better than the covers, which makes her look extra talented. And hearing the songs will drive more people to buy the original album. And this is an excuse for her to forge some relationships with other artists. Smart smart smart.
