"We had a very satisfying life together. It was a wonderful love affair. If anything else was happening, I certainly didn't know about it, and I don't think he intended to hurt me in any way."

'Marquesa Gogo Berenson di Cacciapooti'
Who wouldn't want that name?

Today’s fun fact:
Anthony and Berry’s son appeared in Legally Blonde as the weird classmate of Elle’s who she pretends to be hung up on when she sees him being shot down by the girls in the park.

A ring belonging to Berenson was recovered from the WTC rubble.

I want to see the picture of Anthony and Berry’s son but I don't know what his name is to google.

Either Osgood or Elvis Perkins, according to the Post article, R7. Depends on which one you want. Osgood was in Legally Blonde.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 11, 2021 11:31 PM |
Both Osgood and Elvis are eccentric names now.
Osgood has a bigger jaw than than his neurotic father.

I can't read the OP's article because the bankrupt Guardian sends me threatening emails whenever I inadvertently land on their pages.
Does it say anything interesting?

^ is he homosexual?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 12, 2021 12:37 AM |
Osgood looks like the love child of Kyle McLachlan and Truman Capote.

I bet she got to eat his ass. I'd have no complaints, either.

Legally Blonde premiered a couple of weeks prior to 9/11, R2. Overall, Berry sounds like a classy broad.

Why is he so dark in R11's picture? He looks nothing like the guy at R9. He must lie in the sun covered in olive oil, Sweetie.

Osgood comes from Perkins's father, who was named James Ridley Osgood Perkins. On a TV show, Berry said that Elvis had nothing to do with Elvis Presley but instead was the Spanish for "beautiful face," except I don't think that's correct. It seems to be Gaelic, Welsh, or Scandinavian in origin.

I can't imagine what it must have been like to be in her position, but few people think she had no idea what was going on. Perkins was far too blatant. And as for her claiming not to know how he contracted AIDS, nobody thinks he got it from a contaminated blood transfusion.

I think she was star struck. She loved being married to a famous actor. Her sister got the looks and acting career.

Given how he died, I don't think she realized how horrific that statement was.

Her statement made no sense, but I think she was just trying to get through the experience. By all accounts, she took wonderful care of Perkins during his last years.

She developed a crush on him as a young teenager and kept a scrapbook. She claimed she never dreamed she'd meet him but she used her connections to get introduced to him.

I knew someone who knew their family and he said Tony had a longtime lover who lived in the guesthouse out back. The "personal secretary".

I read that while married he kept a room in the Château Marmont that he used for his hookups. When he did Broadway shows, there was always a little blond man (one of his favorite types) in the dressing room and the door would be shut for long periods. An hour later, Berry would pick him up for dinner and his manner completely changed. He frequented gay bars, gay bookstores, and wherever he was he was always looking for a man to pick up. Once, at a party at his own house, when Berry was out of the room, he pointed at the crotch of an old boyfriend, Chris Makos, telling him that he missed it. Some thought that Berry, with her blond, short hair, was a female equivalent of Makos.

These are the words of a woman who had only a handful of sexual encounters with her husband. She knows that she never in harm's way when it came to HIV/AIDS.

Elvis Perkins looks like if a youngish Tony Perkins got the Zac Efron special.

She developed an enormous crush as a teenager after seeing him in Phaedra. She maintained a scrapbook and always dreamed of meeting him one day. Some people thought that in addition to her being in love with him, she saw marriage to him as a way of exploring a new identity and career. She took acting lessons and got some roles. One critic said she had no range of expression in Remember My Name. I thought she was fine. I hated Remember My Name. Two hours of watching a psychotic woman played by Geraldine Chaplin threaten and sometimes harm people, while raising so many questions without answering them.

She was a good wife to Perkins and died tragically but she didn't sound too bright or overly professional. Why would you give your child the name of a famous musician and expect people to think the name had nothing to do with him? What kind of photojournalist visits a subject while trumpeting her massive, years-long crush on him? She enjoyed having privilege without acknowledging it. When her kids were young, they had modeling contracts. My children each have their own bank accounts, she said smugly. She claimed connections had nothing to do with it. She was very active in the fashion world from her work at Interview magazine, fashion magazines, and she knew Halston quite well. Her kids referred to him as their uncle."
I watched a new documentary series called Queer for Fear. I had a lot of issues with it. In one episode, though, Oz Perkins is interviewed and he makes it clear without going into any detail that she knew all about his gay life and considered that her job was to help him stay "hidden."

Marisa Berenson was the older sister of Berinthia (Berry) Berenson.

I've read rumors, but nothing definitive. Berry apparently did have a habit of dating gay men in the past. When she finally interviewed Perkins after years of crushing on him she was engaged to a gay man, Richard Bernstein, an artist who was the cover editor of Interview. According to the biography by Charles Winecoff, Bernstein was distraught when she told him she was leaving him for Perkins. Bernstein thought that she was the woman who would help him be straight and he had invested a lot of time and effort in the relationship. He got drunk and stoned and went to Perkins' townhouse. He pleaded with Perkins, who told him they should let her decide. When he cautioned Perkins that Berry might want him primarily because of who he was, Perkins said something to the effect of "Don't you think I've been dealing with that my entire life?"
I've seen a couple of photos of Bernstein. He resembles a more avant-garde version of Perkins: tall, dark, and handsome but in more Bohemian clothes and a more current haircut. I looked up his obituary and he was survived by a woman companion but he died of AIDS, just like Perkins. I think he was 62.
