Passengers made Charlotte-bound flight ‘a living hell,’ flight attendant scolds in video

An American Airlines flight attendant scolded passengers who verbally abused them on a flight from Los Angeles to Charlotte that diverted in bad weather to Raleigh, a TikTok video shows.

A North Carolina musician outraged by his fellow passengers’ behavior posted the video in hopes other will be outraged, too.

At one point, a 22-year-old male passenger calls a female flight attendant “a fat gorilla” and hurls a vulgarity at her, according to the video.

““There was absolutely no excuse for it,” Brent Underwood of the band 87&Pine told The Charlotte Observer on Thursday. “It doesn’t matter what you look like. Everybody deserves respect. And everybody deserves to be punished equally for being a rude person like that. Why would you call a person a fat gorilla?”

The plane sat at the Raleigh-Durham airport for three hours.

The plane flight earlier circled Charlotte’s airport for a half-hour before diverting to Raleigh because the plane was low on fuel, Underwood said. The incident was first reported by the fact-checking site Snopes.com.

After the female flight attendant told a 22-year-old male passenger to put a mask on, as required on planes by federal COVID mandates, the passenger called her a “fat gorilla” and hurled a vulgarity at her, Underwood’s video shows.

The video has drawn a half-million views.

When the male attendant announced the flight would return to Raleigh if passenger behavior didn’t improve, a woman passenger sarcastically complained that the attendants were threatening to do that because they hadn’t eaten, according to Underwood’s video.

“Give them a Snickers!” other passengers shouted.

Flight 2511 left Los Angeles at 9:12 a.m. Pacific time on Monday, according to Underwood’s boarding pass, a photo of which he provided to the Observer on Thursday.

While sitting in Raleigh, the plane had only water and cookies left, Underwood said.

After the passengers finished mouthing off, one of them apparently realized they’d gone too far and could be heard telling the male attendant, “I said we’re sorry.”

The attendant had just taken to a microphone and was about to address the plane. The flight had two male and three female flight attendants, Underwood said, but only the one male and one female attendant were involved in the confrontation, he said. The pilot didn’t get involved, he said.

“Just like you, we have not eaten also,” the male flight attendant tells passengers over the plane’s speaker system, according to the video. “We’ve catered to you the entire flight. We do it because we love this job.

“But the fact that we get insulted and mistreated by passengers over things we cannot control is disgusting,” he says.

“We’re just trying to go to Charlotte,” the attendant said. “But shame on the passengers that have made this flight a living hell for the flight attendants.”

Passengers applaud the attendant.

On TikTok, Underwood, a 39-year-old musician who works for the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles, defended the flight attendants and addressed the bad behavior of fellow passengers.

“Flight attendants on @officialamericanairways are done with your b.s.!” Underwood posted with the video and the TikTok hashtags #AmericanAirlines, #facemask and #dumbcustomers.

“The flight crew did absolutely nothing wrong,” he told the Observer. “They were more professional than I would have been.”

In statement to the Observer on Thursday, American Airlines said: “We take the health and safety of our customers seriously, and our crew members work hard to uphold the federal mask mandate that remains in effect on aircraft and in airports.

“We value the trust our customers place in our team to care for them it throughout their journey, and we expect those who choose to fly with us to treat each other — and our team members — with respect.”

The flight arrived at CLT at 9:41 p.m. Monday, more than 12 hours after leaving LA and more than six hours in the air, according to FlightAware.com, which tracks flights at the nation’s airports.

Kudos to the purser…he wasn’t taking any shit.

by Anonymousreply 7June 11, 2021 12:46 AM

It sucks when you get stuck on a plane for hours; but, that's why you always bring an extra Xanax or Valium. Just pop a pill, put on your sleeping mask and headphones, and you won't even know the difference.

by Anonymousreply 8June 11, 2021 12:59 AM

More evidence that most of the populace shouldn't be allowed to fly. There are so many videos like this too. People are trashy garbage.

by Anonymousreply 9June 11, 2021 1:01 AM

I asked to be seated in the NO KARENS Zone!

Sorry, but that will be an extra $150 to relocate you from the "steerage cow zone" to the "human zone."

by Anonymousreply 11June 11, 2021 1:03 AM

This is why I drive it if at all possible. Flying is hell.

by Anonymousreply 12June 11, 2021 1:04 AM

Flying really needs to go back to being cost prohibitive. 90% of the people who fly now are the same pieces of trash who would’ve gone their whole lives having never flown had then born 70 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 13June 11, 2021 1:04 AM

Flight attends don’t deserve this shit, seriously they don’t even make that much to begin with and it’s certainly not enough to put up with trashy passengers that should taking a greyhound bus.

by Anonymousreply 14June 11, 2021 1:04 AM
This is why I drive it if at all possible. Flying is hell.

You'd prefer to drive from LA to Charlotte??

by Anonymousreply 15June 11, 2021 1:11 AM

What about a domestic airline with no "classes" but everything is somewhere between economy and business. And it's double the Current price of competitors economy. And they have a dress code and a behavior code, and if you break the code you finish the flight, but after you are permanently on the no-fly list.

by Anonymousreply 16June 11, 2021 1:16 AM
And they have a dress code

A dress code for air travel? Do you live in 1952, Mrs. Cleaver?

by Anonymousreply 17June 11, 2021 1:18 AM

Dream on, R16.

Do you think that CEO's and Executives actually give a crap about that?

All they want is MONEY and PROFITS.

Passengers could sit on benches and beat each other with clubs, for all they care.

by Anonymousreply 18June 11, 2021 1:18 AM

Well if "upscale" chain restaurants can turn a profit why couldn't such an airline?

by Anonymousreply 19June 11, 2021 1:21 AM

Lots of people might be willing to pay 600 for a flight that the unwashed masse pay 300 for. Just to stay away from the unwashed masses and to left in peace in a normal sized space. 600 isn't 2000. People bay a bit more for better quality.

by Anonymousreply 20June 11, 2021 1:23 AM

I feel for my gay flight attendants brothers. I could not do this job, I'd beat a bitch down

by Anonymousreply 21June 11, 2021 1:27 AM
Why would you call a person a fat gorilla?

Oh, poor naive Brent Underwood.

I hope he never visits Datalounge.

Poor boy will be TRAUMATIZED.

by Anonymousreply 22June 11, 2021 1:28 AM

The pilot and the flight attendant had foreign gay voice. It took a lot of courage to face down that mob with that. I'm conscious of just having gay voice.

by Anonymousreply 23June 11, 2021 1:38 AM

Any ID of these asshole trash cunt passengers? Names/photos?

by Anonymousreply 24June 11, 2021 1:50 AM

I wonder where they're all going? The North Carolina Strawberry Festival? Seems like no one has a job anymore.

by Anonymousreply 25June 11, 2021 2:02 AM

I have to fly next week, the first time since March 2020, and while I want to see my parents, I really am not looking forward to it. I don't expect anything to happen but with the continuing FAA mask mandate while people don't have to wear them elsewhere - there's just an increased chance that somebody will go off.

by Anonymousreply 26June 11, 2021 2:06 AM

Why aren't these people being PERMANENTLY BANNED from flying on that airline????? Their disruptive behavior endangers everyone on that flight, ESPECIALLY the flight attendants/crew.

Perhaps the only way people like this will learn their lesson is public shame and humiliation.

by Anonymousreply 27June 11, 2021 2:07 AM

r25 I feel that way as well. So many people just leisurely going out and about during the day, and they're nowhere near being retired. I guess I really missed the boat!

by Anonymousreply 28June 11, 2021 2:07 AM

I think a step further is required R27. If a passenger causes a violent issue or refuses to comply with instructions or creates dramatic scene on a domestic flight then they should be permanently banned from flying domestically.

If they do it on an international flight - then they should be banned from flying intentionally.

These self-absorbed passengers who refuse to comply with basic instructions or to control themselves are dangerous and detrimental to other passengers and crew. Unacceptable.

by Anonymousreply 29June 11, 2021 2:18 AM

Why do we have a "no-fly" list, if not for people like this? Society needs to be protected from people like this. It is the same reason we have prisons.

by Anonymousreply 30June 11, 2021 2:19 AM

America needs to tone down "the customer is always right bullshit". Fuck a customer, safety is first. They need uniformed air marshals on all these flights like they did after 9/11 to hand people their ass if they get out of line. They should be hot guys too to give bored gay flight attendants incentive to put up with this bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 31June 11, 2021 2:25 AM

America has become the LAND OF THE COMPLAINER.

We have become whiny bitches who complain about EVERYTHING.

And it's the Republicans' fault.

Every single thing out of their mouths, is a fucking complaint.

They whine, bitch, and moan about everything.

From Trump, to Fox News, to QAnons, to MAGATS, to the insurrectionists. It's all complaining, all the time.

Now it's spilling over into the real world.

by Anonymousreply 32June 11, 2021 2:28 AM

I third r25 and r28. No one seems to be working and they seem to have discretionary income. On my way to work in the morning around 8:00am, I see lots of young couples jogging or walking and when I get to work and we open at 10 or 11, they’re shopping. And these aren’t oldsters or house fraus, they’re millennials during the work week.

My 2 neighbors are always in their yards working on they’re gardens or remodeling or doing short errands and walking with their young kids. They have jobs, but don’t seem to work. My other neighbor is fixing up his house and plays basketball. He’s not retired either.

by Anonymousreply 33June 11, 2021 2:44 AM
Why do we have a "no-fly" list, if not for people like this?

For the people who bring bombs onto planes, r30. There's a difference between being a cunt on a flight and trying to blow it up.

by Anonymousreply 34June 11, 2021 2:48 AM

I flew american last month and the flights were both delayed over six hours on account of plane repairs. over SIX hours.

also, both flights were over ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY PERCENT OVERSOLD

american and suck ass. the flight attendants get the brunt of it all but the company itself is laughing all the way to the bank. FUCK all of them, every single one.

by Anonymousreply 35June 11, 2021 2:53 AM

R32, you could teach master classes in irony.

by Anonymousreply 36June 11, 2021 2:56 AM

r36, said it before I could. Well done!

by Anonymousreply 37June 11, 2021 2:58 AM

For all of the bitching about airline employees, all of the truly appalling, agressive and just plain crazy behavior I've witnessed over the years on flights has been from passengers. It seemed to grow particularly bad starting in the late 2000s.

by Anonymousreply 38June 11, 2021 2:59 AM

Honest question, has there ever been a period in time where American society was in such an obvious collapse? Is it down to the pandemic? I mean every day there’s a video of outrageous behavior on airplanes, deplorables accosting minimum wage workers over being asked to wear a mask, ghetto girls brawling in line at a grocery store, etc. Its really depressing.

by Anonymousreply 39June 11, 2021 2:59 AM

r34, there are things such as multiple lists. Cunt lists should be their #1 priority.

by Anonymousreply 40June 11, 2021 3:00 AM

R39, I honestly think it's the Trump years and everything it wrought followed by the upending of life as we know it by the pandemic. Add to that the continuing persistence of social media and how if effects people (in good and bad ways, but I'm focusing on the bad), and I don't think "the culture" will ever bounce back fully.

by Anonymousreply 41June 11, 2021 3:06 AM

I'm all for raising the prices of airfares so people like this can't afford to fly. Put them back on the Greyhound bus where they belong.

by Anonymousreply 42June 11, 2021 3:12 AM

I also think social media and reality tv (people acting like entitled assholes on all of those shows) has a lot to do with the breakdown of civility. So many people are selfish, rude and aggressive now, it's become almost normalized.

by Anonymousreply 43June 11, 2021 3:12 AM

Right, R43, and the whole dynamic multiplies quickly because everyone feels the rudeness, aggressiveness, hostility -- and that makes many people take on that demeanor. Many people don't, but they might instead simply be more cautious, more distant. There's less friendly and nice people now.

by Anonymousreply 44June 11, 2021 3:18 AM

R43 I wonder if it’s always been this bad and now we’re just seeing it thanks to social media. Honestly, I doubt it. Something has changed. Trump + the pandemic has resulted in chaos. People are just so ANGRY all the time. We all hate each other. Trump obviously emboldened the deplorables to act more brazen in public but it isn’t just them.

The question is what can be done and where do we go from here. Fighting on an airplane is outrageous.

by Anonymousreply 45June 11, 2021 3:27 AM

Fuck the Wright Brothers for inventing the airplane!!!

by Anonymousreply 46June 11, 2021 7:53 AM

I would've tased that smartass motherfucker passenger punk. They would've had to haul him off a dribbling pissed-stained mess. My tolerance for these crybaby anti-maskers is now at zero. Fuck. That.

by Anonymousreply 47June 11, 2021 8:07 AM
Oh, poor naive Brent Underwood.

Yeah, he was so good on [italic]L.A. Law.[/italic]

by Anonymousreply 48June 11, 2021 8:34 AM

Planes need to have steerage, so the trash can sit in the cargo hold with the luggage. First class and coach should be reserved for people who have some goddamn sense.

by Anonymousreply 49June 11, 2021 11:53 AM

I agree, R49.

If you want to ACT like cattle, then you shall be TREATED like cattle.

by Anonymousreply 50June 11, 2021 4:21 PM

The flight attendant was much nicer than I thought he would be.

He gave them a scolding, but wasn't bitchy.

by Anonymousreply 51June 12, 2021 3:34 AM

It's cute that r13 thinks only poor people are trash.

by Anonymousreply 52June 12, 2021 3:35 AM

R45, social media showed me many people from my past were horrible human beings. COVID showed me some of the people I recently had thought highly of, are actually selfish, horrid shitbags. Knowing that the majority of people I liked are actually complete assholes is depressing as hell.

by Anonymousreply 53June 12, 2021 4:54 AM

There are issues on both sides. Yes, customers are out of control (I’m for banning alcohol on planes and airport terminals because I think this causes some problems) but airlines have been getting worse and worse with their cheapness (seats too tight) and flight attendants have become more surly. So everyone is to blame.

by Anonymousreply 54June 12, 2021 6:26 PM
but airlines have been getting worse and worse with their cheapness (seats too tight) and flight attendants have become more surly. So everyone is to blame.

How is a tight seat and a surly flight attendant a justification for telling the purser to suck your dick?

If you don't want a tiny seat, shell out for business or first class or fucking drive.

by Anonymousreply 55June 12, 2021 6:30 PM
How is a tight seat and a surly flight attendant a justification for telling the purser to suck your dick? If you don't want a tiny seat, shell out for business or first class or fucking drive.

Maybe there was a misunderstanding and he wanted to join the mile-high club.

Not all airlines/routes have business or first class. Southwest doesn’t.

by Anonymousreply 56June 12, 2021 6:33 PM
Not all airlines/routes have business or first class. Southwest doesn’t.

Then choose another airline. The point is if you've chosen to purchase a shitty, sardine-can-like seat on a flight, you don't get to use that as an excuse to be a cunt to other people.

by Anonymousreply 57June 12, 2021 6:35 PM

Lose weight and quit stopping up the toilet, fats at R54.

"So everyone is to blame." GTFOH

by Anonymousreply 58June 12, 2021 6:35 PM

R41, yes, Trump and the Trump years made it okay to deny experts, science, and just be generally unpleasant and miserable to others. I don't even want to live in this country anymore, and I've never felt that way before in my life (even when Trump got elected).

by Anonymousreply 59June 12, 2021 6:46 PM

THis is why I will only fly first class. I don't care what it costs. I will take fewer trips to make it work. I cannot sit near these savages and they are rarely in first class.

by Anonymousreply 60June 12, 2021 8:24 PM

At one point, a 22-year-old male passenger calls a female flight attendant “a fat gorilla” and hurls a vulgarity at her, according to the video.

by Anonymousreply 62June 12, 2021 8:54 PM

[bold]It's not a 'poor people issue,' it's entitlement.[/bold] These people expect to be treated in an upper-class way, and in most areas of their life, they are. Or they are given something that passes for it. (I'm leasing the BMW.)

But airports have become unbearable. Unless you are a member of a rewards group that gives you access to services that allow you to bypass the airport security theatre, you are frustrated by the time you board.

Then many persons can't fit in the space allotted in coach. Then the food is inedible. Compounding frustration builds. The people experiencing it don't feel that they have to put up with it.

[bold]A trip to the Greyhound bus station gives you an easier boarding experience, more comfortable seating, no expectation of food, and unentitled passengers. Imagine a Greyhound bus with this disruption on board. Imagine the film of the bus careening all over the highway.[/bold]

It doesn't happen.

Raise ticket prices and manage the competition among airlines.

by Anonymousreply 63June 12, 2021 9:11 PM
Raise ticket prices and manage the competition among airlines.

Fuck that. The people who complain about these issues can shell out for better seats. Don't raise the prices for those of us who generally just sleep and mind our own business on flights.

by Anonymousreply 64June 12, 2021 9:15 PM

Americans are pigs. Whatcha gonna do?

by Anonymousreply 65June 12, 2021 9:35 PM

I predict that eventually air planes will not have seats but enclosed capsules that close just before take off and won't open until landing, because humans act like animals.

by Anonymousreply 66June 12, 2021 10:00 PM
I wonder where they're all going? The North Carolina Strawberry Festival? Seems like no one has a job anymore.

Charlotte is a major hub for American Airlines. People on this flight from LA could be connecting to anywhere on the East Coast, Europe, or the Caribbean.

by Anonymousreply 67June 12, 2021 11:03 PM

The federal government needs to get rid of the mask mandates on planes and in airports. The CDC says masks are not necessary for vaccinated people, and planes have always been safe due to the constantly exchanged air. The mask mandate is causing more problems than anything it is doing to help.

Also, American Airlines has made things worse by reducing their seat pitch in steerage class, and eliminating most onboard service due to the pandemic. They’ve also eliminated all alcohol in economy, even in their Main Cabin Extra seating, where many of their elite frequent flyers are sitting. There’s no reason for that, especially when they think it’s perfectly fine for unlimited alcohol to be served one row ahead in First Class. Bottom line, passengers wouldn’t be acting up this badly if they were allowed to have some food to a drink, and not have to wear a mask.

American Airlines management chose to reduce their flying experience, even for their elite frequent flyers, down to a level that’s on par with airlines like Spirit and Allegiant. So now it’s no surprise they’re getting passengers of the Spirit level caliber who behave like trash. It’s a shame that American’s flight attendants and front line workers have to bear the brunt of management’s stupid decisions.

by Anonymousreply 68June 12, 2021 11:14 PM

The airlines need to start providing appropriate in-flight service. If it’s fine for me to eat at a restaurant, according to the CDC, there’s no reason American can’t serve a hot first class meal and sell alcohol in coach.

by Anonymousreply 72June 12, 2021 11:41 PM

I daydream of a cargo plane waiting in a hangar. Every Tuesday at 4pm it taxis to the runway for take off. In its hold are the previous weeks headline makers; the "Karens", the screechers, the shooters, the loons who've made asses of themselves, etc.

The plane makes its way out over the Atlantic, and while live streaming, it opens its aft cargo door and sweeps them all out into the abyss.

After a couple of Tuesdays come and go, I'm betting social skills would be spit polished and good manners would make a comeback.

Perhaps working on your parallel structure would help as the intention in the sentence "there’s no reason American can’t serve a hot first class meal and sell alcohol in coach" is unclear.

"There's no reason American can't serve a hot meal in first class and sell alcohol in coach."

Sorry you write like a 10 year old.

by Anonymousreply 77June 13, 2021 12:03 AM

R74 - that was the norm up until late 90's? I can't remember when it changed. But if you had a flight over 1.5 hours, you got a meal - and it used to be a hot meal, not a sandwich. Now they only have cold items to purchase.

Depending on the airline, sometimes the food was not bad. But that was a cost-cutting measure some time ago.

You didn't have to pay to check your bags either and there were no premium seats in coach - they were all the same size.

by Anonymousreply 78June 13, 2021 12:06 AM
Depending on the airline, sometimes the food was not bad. But that was a cost-cutting measure some time ago.

Yeah, I remember that. Wasn't there some airline bailout or something in the 90's that started all of the current "pay extra for everything" model? It also led to overall cheaper flights, so I'm not complaining.

Air Italia still serves hot food, and it's delicious. Many European flights do, actually.

For what it’s worth, all the major carriers serve hot meals in coach on international flights.

by Anonymousreply 83June 13, 2021 12:44 AM

I would pay extra to NOT have to listen to my seatmates shove food down their fat faces. Or to harass airline employees about the ingredients, i.e., food's too hot, full of gluten/dairy, cold in the middle, portions are too small, meat isn't done to their specifications...

No. No way. Dine before or after you fly.

American used to allow first-class passengers to pre-select their meal up to 30 days before their flight. Elite passengers who got upgraded cloud make their choice up to 24 hours before departure. Now they offer nothing. No wonder their passengers act out and treat them like shit. They treat their customers like shit.

Right before the pandemic I spent a month in Australia for work and was flown in business class both ways on Qantas.

It was like being at a country club.

by Anonymousreply 87June 13, 2021 12:58 AM

Double the airfares. Ban shoving trunks and other ridiculously sized "carry ons" into overhead bins designed for hats and briefcases. Institute dress codes. Air travel is not a right, it's a privilege. And if you jeopardize the safety of the flight through any sort of asshattery, you get put on the U.S. No-Fly List.

If you want to act like an idiot, take a MegaBus.
Double the airfares. Ban shoving trunks and other ridiculously sized "carry ons" into overhead bins designed for hats and briefcases. Institute dress codes.

Go back to 1972. Eastern Air Lines called and wants you to book a flight.

Americans can't do anything without eating and drinking. God forbid they have to go FOUR whole hours their fat carb-addicted faces. You'd think they would starve to death

by Anonymousreply 90June 13, 2021 1:09 AM

Four whole hours without stuffing their fat carb-addicted faces, that is.

by Anonymousreply 91June 13, 2021 1:10 AM

I always thought a meal on a plane was great luxury in the old days and loved it, whatever was served. But I just don’t see this obsession that someone must have a meal served on a three hour flight. I stick power bars and some crackers in my backpack and am fine. I ride the city us a lot and people are compelled to eat their takeout meal on a 15 minute ride. No winder we are all obese with this food obsession.

by Anonymousreply 92June 13, 2021 1:15 AM

Seriously r92. As long as we're talking domestic flights and not international flights, you don't need to eat on the plane. People aren't going to fucking starve to death if they can't eat for 2-6 hours. It's ridiculous the way some carry on about no meals on domestic flights. Eat a fucking sandwich at the airport before the flight boards!

by Anonymousreply 93June 13, 2021 1:19 AM

This isn't about access to alcohol and food. I worked in restaurants for years and witnessed similar insane oubursts. It's about americas rage filled and trashy culture. And I'm not sure raising prices would help. Some of the most vicious and entitled customers are firmly middle class suburbanites, not rich but certainly nowhere near poor. And the rich can be pretty bad too.

by Anonymousreply 94June 13, 2021 1:33 AM

Yeah, it’s strange how people go nuts for a shitty meal just because it’s free (even though it’s not).

by Anonymousreply 95June 13, 2021 1:34 AM

I agree with the no-fly list suggestions above. If someone has caused such a ruckus that they've had to divert the plane or have security meet you at the gate, I don't know why they are allowed to just hop on the next flight on another carrier. They should be banned from flying for at least a period of time if not forever.

by Anonymousreply 96June 13, 2021 1:36 AM
I wonder if it’s always been this bad and now we’re just seeing it thanks to social media.

Nowhere near it R45. This is a new level of rage, hatred and violence. Essentially, America is divided into two opposing groups and Americans from one group deeply hate the other group after 40 plus years of wedge politics, Fox News, mindless spin/lies and social media like Facebook for conspiracy theories.

This is the outcome. Everybody is angry all the time. And BOOM! It will only get worse.

People that are paying $1000 plus for a domestic first class ticket, or elite passengers who have earned their status through loyalty to a particular airline…are entitled to a fucking meal and free drinks. No, they’re not going to starve, but the airlines should take care of their best customers who are paying the most. And American Airlines is a big failure at that.

In April I was on a 10 hour flight to Hawaii and no food was served during the flight. I would have purchased food at an airport restaurant but there was not enough time between the connecting flights so I had to go without a proper meal for several hours.

by Anonymousreply 99June 13, 2021 2:01 AM

Ask to speak to American's manager then, Karen at R98. Maybe if tell them how entitled you are, they'll give you a voucher for a steak.

by Anonymousreply 100June 13, 2021 2:02 AM

r98 you still don't need to eat a full meal on a flight that's only a few hours. Americans are so entitled and piggish, everybody has to eat ad drink all the fucking time. It's gross.

by Anonymousreply 101June 13, 2021 2:07 AM

Did you check your ticket details R99? They specifically say if you will be given food or not. Cheap priced tickets almost never come with food or baggage allowance unless specified. Which airline?

by Anonymousreply 102June 13, 2021 2:09 AM
Did you check your ticket details [R99]? They specifically say if you will be given food or not.

The airlines make up the rules every day. Of the flight attendants feel like being lazy, they just blame their lack of service on “COVID-19” or “pandemic precautions”. The American flight attendants have plenty of time and energy to shill their fucking credit card applications during the flight though.

by Anonymousreply 103June 13, 2021 2:14 AM

Oy. Peanuts. Peanuts!
the report said no one died

How are you going to know who they are? What’s their name? You don’t really have assigned seating on many of these flights. Are you going to demand they give you ID? These are people who won’t wear a fucking mask…you think they’re going to hand over ID? What are you going to do, handcuff them? The police don’t want to be covering airports arresting people who misbehaved on flights.

R104

Sullen, stingy, bloody French bitch!

by Anonymousreply 106June 13, 2021 2:22 AM

My favorite thing about Datalounge is reading posts from people who put their airline tickets on a Visa card they keep a five-figure balance on hissing about "the trash" they let on airlines and how they "need to jack up the prices get a better class of people on the plane."

by Anonymousreply 107June 13, 2021 2:22 AM

- What's that in there?

- Ça c'est la poubelle, madame.

- Yeah, we'll have two of those.

And yet, you lived to tell us all about it, r99. Harrowing.

Then allow passengers to check their bags for free. American Airlines was the first one that started charging fees for bags years ago. They created this monster. Now this company is reaping what they sowed with their decades of bad management decisions.

by Anonymousreply 110June 13, 2021 11:47 AM

The passengers were wrong, but so was the airline. You don’t keep people on a plane for that long. Airlines should be forced to offer partial refunds in situations like this, when passengers are forced to remain on a runway or taxing for more than an hour.

by Anonymousreply 111June 13, 2021 11:59 AM

I’m sorry, when you try to jam as many passengers as possible on a plane, especially during a pandemic when they are also wearing masks and just went through hours in the security line…this is what you get

by Anonymousreply 112June 13, 2021 12:12 PM

About 10 years ago, hardly any planes had changing tables in their bathrooms. My friend was bringing home a baby he and his partner had just adopted.

The baby had pooped in her diaper so he was desperately looking for a surface on which to change her. He got to the back of the plane and changed on top of a stainless steal counter. As he was finishing, a flight attendant barreled up the aisle and admonished, “You can’t do that here! This is the kitchen.” Without missing a beat, he replied, “Is this where you cook the peanuts?”

And the ladies might soil their white gloves too!

So many DLers really don't seem to get that the last 60 years actually happened.

It's like being in 1921 and listening to someone go on about hoop skirts and parties at 12 Oaks "before the war"

by Anonymousreply 114June 13, 2021 1:15 PM

by Anonymousreply 115June 13, 2021 1:21 PM

"Hats and briefcases?"

Wow, that's archaic. Even for DL.

by Anonymousreply 116June 13, 2021 2:19 PM
He got to the back of the plane and changed on top of a stainless steal counter.

Whether they actually cook there or not, that's still pretty gross.
