Because most posters are men, and men, regardless of sexual orientation, must compare everything with other men.

I just think that it is human nature (or a bad instinct) to want to be associated with things that are The Best. Or people want to prove to themselves that they made a good choice in where they live.

OP, it all stems from NYC posters. Then the west coasters chimed in a little. But, the vast majority of comparers are from New York.

It's just for fun. All cities have their pros and cons. Except for DC, which everyone agrees is a lame shithole.

I agree about DC especially since I live here. Can’t walk a block without running into a self important boring defense contractor or think tanker. Everyone sneers and wears ugly pleated pants.

Whenever some pompous blowhard from NYC comes on here and starts bloviating bullshit about how New Yorkers are all about class and elegance, I remind them that Rudy Giuliani and Donald Trump are both native New Yorkers.
