Mine are Wyoming or Iowa.
When listing all the 50 US States, which are the one/s you always or mostly forget?
|by Anonymous||reply 49||Last Friday at 12:49 AM|
I can't remember.

|by Anonymous||reply 2||Last Thursday at 1:02 PM|
Anything in the middle
|by Anonymous||reply 3||Last Thursday at 1:07 PM|
Iowa, yes,. And often Arkansas (but not Kansas). Sometimes Nebraska.
|by Anonymous||reply 4||Last Thursday at 1:09 PM|
It's some of the state capitols I can't remember anymore. I don't have any problem remembering the states.
|by Anonymous||reply 5||Last Thursday at 1:12 PM|

You mean like Frankfort, KY, and Pierre, SD?
|by Anonymous||reply 6||Last Thursday at 1:15 PM|
|by Anonymous||reply 7||Last Thursday at 1:15 PM|
Yes, r6, the ones that have a city(cities) that are more well known and you think they're the capitol and they're not. I always remember Pierre and Bismarck, but can't always remember which Dakota gets which.

You also have trouble remembering that a CAPITOL is a building. A CAPITAL is a city.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||Last Thursday at 1:28 PM|
It's kind of hard to forget a state...
|by Anonymous||reply 10||Last Thursday at 1:28 PM|
Perhaps this will help.
|by Anonymous||reply 11||Last Thursday at 1:29 PM|
I'm oh dearing myself for the next few minutes at, r9.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||Last Thursday at 1:31 PM|
All of them ??
|by Anonymous||reply 13||Last Thursday at 1:32 PM|
None of them, as I successfully made it through elementary school.
|by Anonymous||reply 14||Last Thursday at 1:33 PM|
I knew the states and capitals in second grade.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||Last Thursday at 1:37 PM|
r15 - me, too.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||Last Thursday at 1:42 PM|
No one needs to know every state except for California and her future territories like Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Washington, Colorado....etc...etc
|by Anonymous||reply 17||Last Thursday at 1:43 PM|
OK, without looking it up, who can name the last FIVE states admitted to the Union?
|by Anonymous||reply 18||Last Thursday at 1:52 PM|
Hawaii, Alaska, New Mexico, Arizona and Oklahoma (off top of my head)
|by Anonymous||reply 19||Last Thursday at 1:53 PM|
Nebraska. I just never, ever think about that state. Ever. I don't even ever see news items from that Nebraska, come to think of it.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||Last Thursday at 1:55 PM|
The only five states I haven't visited are: MT, ID, ND, SD, and NE.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||Last Thursday at 1:56 PM|
SD, NE, KS and KY for me.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||Last Thursday at 1:58 PM|
I can only do three, r18.
|by Anonymous||reply 23||Last Thursday at 2:01 PM|
I forget none, I learned all fifty states when I was in grade school and can pick them out on a map without names or borders. I also knew all the countries of the world then, but there have been so many additions and names changes since I would struggle with some in Africa and the former Soviet Union. I can also name all the provinces of Canada and states of Australia.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||Last Thursday at 2:02 PM|
I have trouble with the Pacific Island countries (Vanuatu, etc), R24.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||Last Thursday at 2:05 PM|
|by Anonymous||reply 26||Last Thursday at 2:06 PM|
But can you name everyone of your grade school teachers...including their first names?
|by Anonymous||reply 27||Last Thursday at 2:06 PM|
^ every space one
|by Anonymous||reply 28||Last Thursday at 2:07 PM|
I couldn't name a single grade school teacher, I only remember things that are important to me.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||Last Thursday at 2:08 PM|
First names? Not all of them, but most I think.
|by Anonymous||reply 30||Last Thursday at 2:12 PM|
Some of us are old enough to remember countries on the map like the Belgian Congo, French Equatorial Africa, Ceylon, Rhodesia, Malaya, Tanganyika, British Guiana, etc.
|by Anonymous||reply 31||Last Thursday at 2:12 PM|
I've managed to meet folks from more obscure African countries like Burkina Faso (I almost wrote Upper Volta), Chad, Congo-Brazzaville and Sierra Leone.
Upon meeting a fellow from Djibouti, I mentioned: "Ah! Terretoire des Afars et Isas!" He replied proudly the HE was an Afar!
|by Anonymous||reply 32||Last Thursday at 2:23 PM|
I don't even know what NE stands for...what fucking state is that?
|by Anonymous||reply 33||Last Thursday at 2:49 PM|
If you know geography, it’s pretty easy to picture the map and just list them off as you consider each one’s location. There’s no reason for forgetting one.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||Last Thursday at 2:51 PM|
|by Anonymous||reply 35||Last Thursday at 2:52 PM|
r33 NEBRASKA. You must be r20.
|by Anonymous||reply 36||Last Thursday at 2:54 PM|
I try to blot Alabama, Mississippi, and Arkansas out of my mind.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||Last Thursday at 2:54 PM|
R20, the Children of the Corn live there.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||Last Thursday at 2:55 PM|
[quote] OK, without looking it up, who can name the last FIVE states admitted to the Union?
That’s easy, because there have been only five states added in the 20th century.
|by Anonymous||reply 39||Last Thursday at 2:57 PM|
Okay R1 to R39 - fess up: How often do you actually makes lists of all 50 states.
Without resorting to cut and paste from Wikipedia.
|by Anonymous||reply 40||Last Thursday at 2:58 PM|
[quote] How often do you actually makes lists of all 50 states.
As many times as I am asked to.
|by Anonymous||reply 41||Last Thursday at 3:04 PM|
Did you know that more states (6) were added during President Benjamin Harrison’s single term than under any other president?
|by Anonymous||reply 42||Last Thursday at 3:06 PM|
[quote] But can you name everyone of your grade school teachers...including their first names?
It would be kind of odd to even know their first names as a kid.
|by Anonymous||reply 43||Last Thursday at 3:06 PM|
Bahaahaha! No, R36. I am not also R33. That's a great reason for me not to visit NE, and also a great way to remember it, R38.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||Last Thursday at 3:14 PM|
I knew their names as a kid. First and third grades I know their last names, but not first. Otherwise: 2) Helen 4) Grace 5) Ben 6) Katherine 7) Harold 8) Ed.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||Last Thursday at 3:20 PM|
|by Anonymous||reply 46||Last Thursday at 3:34 PM|
|by Anonymous||reply 47||Last Thursday at 3:48 PM|
I can reduce the number to 33 if that helps.
Here are 17 states that count for fuck all and would not be much missed*: Arkansas, Idaho, Kansas, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Dakota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Utah, Wisconsin, Wyoming.
*Not counting states that I dislike and would never want to visit like Texas and Florida, but which have some importance.
