Biden set to appoint Fmr Rep. Senator Jeff Flake as Ambassador to NZ

“ US President Joe Biden is set to “imminently” offer former Republican senator Jeff Flake the role of ambassador to New Zealand, according to a New York Post reporter.”

Nice to see some bipartisanship going on here. I bet a posting in NZ would be a hugely desirable at the minute.

People like him need to be rewarded. Ambassadorships are the easiest and safest way to foster bi-partisanship. Ambassadors aren't setting policy - they are following policy.

That’ll reduce his availability for political commentary on live TV.

Yes that will accomplish bi-partisanship. Both parties will be equally delighted to send him off to a dead-end post in a lesser nation on the far side of the world.

"Rewarded" for what, R2?

I don't recall him going on the stump for Candidate Joe Biden; nor do I recall seeing him on pro-Biden/anti-Trump TV news panel discussions. I don't recall him leaving the Republican Party.

Hell, he could've appointed Richard Painter, who actually DID leave the GOP and joined the Democratic Party.

Once he gets here to New Zealand he'll disappear into the never never. No one cares about Ambassadors here.

A rare elected Republican who didn’t cave to Trumpism. Of course he should rewarded.

I fail to see what is so nice about this.

Along with Cindy McCain, his support of Biden helped to flip Arizona.

Lucky dude. I would love to reside in NZ
