What do you expect from a college named for a hoor.

This is such a stupid story. It's the graduate common room, not Magdalen College, that voted to take the portrait down. The portrait was from the 1950s and had only been put up a few years earlier, evidently as a joke. The number of people who took part in the vote is probably miniscule. Most students don't really care that much about the common rooms, certainly not the graduate common rooms.
The instigator of the vote is from Maryland. Apparently he believes the portrait might upset some students because it represents a colonial institution. Surely, then, he should demand that the name of his home state is changed, and the neighbouring states of Virginia and West Virginia. Louisiana too.
The name of New York should also be changed, especially because of its Prince Andrew connections.
