Is it worth having a Twitter account?

Twitter became a sad and pathetic place for political grievances and lies. Twit Jack took too long to quell the infestation.

I only have it to check twitter's "trending" a couple times a day to see what people are gossiping about - and to occasionally see what far away friends post/repost.

I don't post there myself, seems wholly unnecessary.

I have an account to follow hoes since tumblr died.

I have another account on my phone just to follow breaking news and things like this.

I have an account under a fake name, for the sole purpose of looking at free porn clips. I've never posted anything, and when someone brings up anything stupid, I just unfollow. I'm there for the dick and cum shots.

It's too crazy now OP. It was good a few years ago but there are some VERY scary mentally unstable people on there who move around in herds like the borg. Many of them reside in an alternate reality from what I can see.

It’s worth it to have. Whenever there’s something going on (power failure, real-time updates on a particular festival, etc), Twitter is a good place to go and do a search. I remember wondering if the shaking I just felt was a mini earthquake. Sure enough, people posted that it was less than five minutes after it happened. I also follow my area’s sanitation for updates on trash delays. This is really the only reason I have it.

R12 I remember gay men in their mid to late 20's, 30's and 40's who use to follow me in 2012, but I never had any guys follow me who were my own age. I probably was in a bit of danger, but Twitter for me then was my first exposure to gay things, so it helped me with my gay development at the time.

R19 R6 isn't correct at all. I'm a 28 year old gay Australian male and I use to have a Twitter account in 2012. If you want to believe R6 who says the same thing nearly everywhere on Datalounge, then fine.

Not really, the trending topics are manipulated so you don't actually get trends or news anymore, or at least I don't. Sometimes I'll be given the same trending news topics for four or five days in a row. It's also overrun with trolls that they do nothing about.

The only benefit is that sometimes you can't access Twitter unless you have an account and are logged in.

I use it for checking news and trends mostly, don’t post any more. I check it in the morning to see if something happened overnight.

My account is mostly news organizations so the stuff they select for me is news.

Twitter's awesome for porn clips. There is one account I love called Cakesboys69 that posts hot stuffs that get me in heat.

It depends on what you want our of it.

I follow people in business to keep up with what's going on.

I also follow politicians to see what they are saying.

Getting your news and information from social media is not a good idea.

R30, I follow Twitter accounts of actual news organizations and reporters, like the Washington Post, the NYT, Time, commentators like Dan Rather, and local tv stations in a lot of different cities. It’s not “Proud Boyz Newz.”

It's really only good for porn. Especially if you're into any kinks that aren't main stream or readily available on porn hub. It's kind of the new Tumblr. Plus porn stars tend to interact with you on Twitter and respond to messages.
