by Anonymousreply 2June 7, 2021 10:16 PM

by Anonymousreply 3June 8, 2021 2:11 AM

I will miss him most for his great beauty.

by Anonymousreply 4June 8, 2021 2:20 AM

He looks like he might be a QUEEN.

by Anonymousreply 5June 8, 2021 2:26 AM

by Anonymousreply 6June 8, 2021 2:28 AM

r6 OMG You are right! didnt Jane Powell appear on Love Boat?

by Anonymousreply 7June 8, 2021 2:29 AM

R5, yes:

"Survivors include his husband, artist Hugh Bush."

by Anonymousreply 8June 8, 2021 2:30 AM

He married gossip columnist Joyce Haber in 1967 and they had two children. Their daughter committed suicide.

by Anonymousreply 9June 8, 2021 2:36 AM

r9 Does he have any grandchildren?

by Anonymousreply 10June 8, 2021 2:40 AM

I don’t believe so R10.

He had a son too who died when he was in his late 40s. By all accounts, he and the son were estranged

by Anonymousreply 11June 8, 2021 2:43 AM

Thanks r11 So he has no surviving descendants? His bloodline has died out and his widower will get the bulk if not all of his inheritance? Is his hubby a lot younger and handsome?

by Anonymousreply 12June 8, 2021 2:46 AM

The husband certainly looks younger. They bought waterfront property in Florida in January of this year for $8 million. I’m speculating as an investment.

Cramer was already a noted art collector during the run of the Love Boat. He personally asked Andy Warhol to make an appearance on the show, and Warhol agreed.

This is one of Warhol’s portraits of Cramer.

I know we're in a golden age of TV today. Sure.

But give me the 70s and 80s with Norman Lear, MTM, Carol Burnett, Aaron Spelling/Douglas S. Cramer, Knots Landing, Dallas, Dynasty, Falcon Crest, Cheers, and Family Ties.

by Anonymousreply 23June 8, 2021 3:27 AM

Looks on the clumsy side, r22.

by Anonymousreply 24June 8, 2021 3:27 AM

Is his cast part of the installation piece?

by Anonymousreply 25June 8, 2021 3:36 AM

"I know we're in a golden age of TV today. Sure."

"Sure?" Who told you "we're in a golden age of tv?" You must be kidding. I can't believe anybody would really think the shit on tv today constitutes "a golden age."

by Anonymousreply 26June 8, 2021 3:39 AM

R26, not saying we are; not saying we're not; everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Me? I love the stuff I grew up on.

by Anonymousreply 27June 8, 2021 5:04 AM

Shockingly, Candy Spelling hasn't offered her condolences.

by Anonymousreply 28June 8, 2021 11:29 AM

Hubby looks like he's packing.

by Anonymousreply 29June 8, 2021 11:55 AM

What do you expect from the likes of her, r28?

by Anonymousreply 30June 8, 2021 1:44 PM

I thought the Hugh Bush thing was a joke but it's real!

by Anonymousreply 31June 8, 2021 1:49 PM

Does he have a hugh bush?

by Anonymousreply 32June 8, 2021 5:33 PM

Hugh fucks like a champ.

by Anonymousreply 33June 8, 2021 7:22 PM

Has Joan Collins commented?

by Anonymousreply 34June 8, 2021 8:59 PM

He had something to do with "Life with Lucy", if Love Boat, etc. didn't epitomize bad tv enough then Lucy's last series has to be the capper.

by Anonymousreply 35June 8, 2021 9:11 PM

Thank you Mr. Cramer for years of WW spinning in the backyard as a young gayling.

by Anonymousreply 36June 8, 2021 9:13 PM

R34, Dame Joan hasn't commented, either. Looks like we're left with Maureen McCormack, who must have a "Death Watch" Google alert on.

by Anonymousreply 37June 9, 2021 12:26 AM

r37 I listened to a podcast last year I think were Joan seemed to allude to some of the shows producers in her view screwing her and other cast members over in terms of royalty rights? I could be mistaken? But if so that would likely in Joans view made Douglas S Cramer one of the culprits.Therein might lie the explanation for her silence?

by Anonymousreply 38June 9, 2021 1:44 AM

I don't know him.

by Anonymousreply 39June 9, 2021 8:26 AM

I dunno maybe it’s just me, but how tragic to not only outlive both his children, but to have a fractured relationship with his son, and lose his daughter to suicide. I know, I know, “but he had all that money…”. Anyone know more?

by Anonymousreply 40June 9, 2021 10:15 AM

Eww, who cares?

by Anonymousreply 41June 9, 2021 10:21 AM

R13 His husband gives me the same grifter vibes as Andy Cohen

The Cramer family was a Greek Tragedy. Straight out of a Judith Krantz novel. Douglas Cramer was a fairly awful person...in that "I am a legendary TV producer and I get what I want" kind of way. He and Joyce Haber were quite the power couple at one time. But if Doug was awful, Joyce was amoral. She was Hedda Hopper's replacement and was 100% venal. She was widely viewed as the last influential gossip columnist. Joyce is 100% responsible for publishing what she knew to be a false story—blind item but completely obvious—in the LA Times about Jean Seberg being impregnated by a Black Panther. Seberg wasn't exactly stable but after that her career was completely over and her life went out of control and she was dead by 1979.

Joyce eventually died in 1993 after a very long and painful illness. She and Cramer had divorced by then. Doug recast himself as a playwright and artist in the 1990s. A year after Joyce's death Cramer hosted a small, clubby reading for a Roman a clef play he had written about her ("The Last Great Dish"). It was never produced but was supposed to have been vitriolic. Doug and Joyce had two children. Courtney died in 2004...at 33. Doug III at 48 in 2015. Courtney is buried in St. Louis with her paternal grandparents. Doug III in Forest Lawn with Joyce.

As far as Hugh Bush, he was a wannabe playwright at one time and his relationship with Doug began in about 1990 when Hugh was in his mid-twenties and Doug in his early sixties. Hugh was then recast as an artist and Doug became a first-rate art collector. They were based in River House in New York. Dealers kissed their asses, big time. For decades Hugh was referred to as Cramer's "collaborator," "friend," "client," etc. Only in later years did "partner," and then "husband" start. Doug has buckets of money. Probably more than Aaron Spelling. He was at it longer and better than Spelling. Candy Spelling had a wrapping room. Hugh Bush probably has a money counting room. Hugh stands to inherit it all.

by Anonymousreply 45June 9, 2021 3:20 PM

R44, thanks for the dirt!

She's the Susan Dey of rich widows.

by Anonymousreply 48June 9, 2021 3:57 PM

r47 True. He has that Marcus Bachmann look.

by Anonymousreply 49June 9, 2021 3:58 PM

What an incredibly successful career he had

by Anonymousreply 50June 9, 2021 3:59 PM

Yes, R49! Definitely that Bachmann look.
