She has entered the chat. Any questions?
Wow, I am shocked they included Diana in the name...
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 6, 2021 4:07 PM |
If she ascends to the throne (which she won't) will she call herself Lilibet III?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 6, 2021 4:08 PM |
Many called it beforehand.
But the name is still astonishing: a (vomit) “sweet nod” to the head of the “racist” family and the woman who the couple obsess over (aka iconic, but flawed, Diana).
The couple is sick, screwy and saccharine.
I pity the child and Archie.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 6, 2021 4:10 PM |
Coulda been “Lilibertha Dianique”
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 6, 2021 4:11 PM |
Why would you name your daughter after a corporation that is racist? Why not just name her Coca-Cola or Nike?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 6, 2021 4:11 PM |
Her full name is Lilibet Oprah Diana.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 6, 2021 4:13 PM |
Oooh - this is a real pinch toward the royal family, isn't it?
This seems to be purposefully provocative - and I'm loving it!
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 6, 2021 4:14 PM |
What's its skin color?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 6, 2021 4:15 PM |
It’s a nice name and weirdly goes well with Archie Harrison.
Appropos of nothing, I really want Charlotte to marry that weird, Damien-looking Swedish prince.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 6, 2021 4:16 PM |
R8 Who cares, the bitch isn't getting near the throne.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 6, 2021 4:17 PM |
Am I the only one thinking it's a bit odd they would give their child a name so connected to the Royal Family they're so desperate to distance themselves from?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 6, 2021 4:18 PM |
I would like to know Oprah's take on this.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 6, 2021 4:19 PM |
She is eighth in line to the thrown, and you WILL recognize her!

What's an "Oprah"?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 6, 2021 4:20 PM |
They've given the Queen's nickname to their daughter?? Seems a little presumptuous and off to me, especially when you've trashed her Majesty's family and called them racists.
When are you giving the title back, Meg?

No, you’re not the only one, R11. As posters above have noted, it’s SICK and PROVOCATIVE.
Meghan and Harry seem at best hypocritical and deceitful. Or psychopathic.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 6, 2021 4:22 PM |
I'll say this, it takes balls to name your child after your grandmother whom you claimed was a bad mother whom you allege is surrounded by a racist family and the head of an institution you say abandoned you and didn't care about your mental health
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 6, 2021 4:23 PM |
R13, in your haste to appear witty, you were “thrown” off course.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 6, 2021 4:23 PM |
Meghan wants to be a Royal and wants to be a victim, she doesn't understand that she can't call her husbands family racist and then expect to be welcomed back with open arms by naming her child after the matriarch. Once you're out, you're out.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 6, 2021 4:24 PM |
Pardon me, r11 - hadn't seen your comment, sorry for the echo.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 6, 2021 4:25 PM |
Wikipedia has already updated the line of succession article but the royal family website has not.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 6, 2021 4:25 PM |
Because she wasn't born in the UK, is the new baby actually eligible for the throne? I know some monarchies in Europe have laws in place that state royal children have to be born in the country.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 6, 2021 4:25 PM |
Odds on for Oprah being the godmother?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 6, 2021 4:26 PM |
Lilibet was the pet name that Philip always called the Queen. I'm sure they're hoping for an eventual photoshoot where the Queen holds her namesake. But most importantly, they're trying to convince the Queen not to remove their titles. Would the Queen want to see headlines like "Queen removes title from Grandson who named his daughter after her."
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 6, 2021 4:27 PM |
They'll call her Lilibet Diana, then eventually shorten it to Lily Diana, and ultimately Lil Diana.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 6, 2021 4:28 PM |
R24 This is why they want to be invited to the Jubilee next year.

No. Watch King Ralph.

William had a son and then a daughter and then another son. Always copying his older brother, I doubt an original thought has ever entered that ginger head.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 6, 2021 4:29 PM |
No nod to her own mother's name, just the 2 royal names?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 6, 2021 4:30 PM |
Meghan will get booed at the jubilee if she shows her face, I will make sure of that!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 6, 2021 4:30 PM |
R29 To ethnic for previously Caucasian Meghan.

Well just wait until she hits puberty. She'll be Lil' Di on the Rag.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 6, 2021 4:33 PM |
So the name Lilibet stems from the Queen's childhood. As a very young girl, the Queen pronuced Elizabeth as "Lilibet" and it stuck. However, the only people who ever called her that were her father, mother, Margaret and Philip. Her children and grandchildren would certainly never have used that name with her so it's a very odd choice. I do hope the Queen gave permission.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 6, 2021 4:35 PM |
All I can say is I really hope they asked the Queen for permission to use her nickname a their daughter's birth name. If not, then truly that has to be the last nail in their royal coffin.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 6, 2021 4:40 PM |
I think Princess Alexandra is also allowed to call her Lilibet but yes HM has never allowed anyone but intimates to call her that. I hope they got permission.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 6, 2021 4:44 PM |
R35 Yup her cousins as well as some foreign royals (e.g. the King of Spain, the King of the Netherlands, the Queen of Denmark) all refer her to Lilibet in private. But this a name unique and very personal to her and I REALLY hope H&M asked the Queen.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 6, 2021 4:54 PM |
What do regular Brits think of this name?
Presumptive cheekiness by the Sussexes or endearing?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 6, 2021 5:00 PM |
R28, you know that’s not how pregnancies work, right? You don’t just click your heels together and decide the gender of your baby.
Unless they used IVF, but I’m sure you would know ALL about that.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 6, 2021 5:07 PM |
R37 I think it's predicable and typical of people as unoriginal in thought as Meghan and Harry.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 6, 2021 5:08 PM |
R22 No, she doesn't have to be born on the UK to be in the line of succession.
And she is not royal. She has no HRH. if Charles becomes King, she'll get one automatically.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 6, 2021 9:57 PM |
I doubt the Harkles asked for permission - they're way past asking permission for anything, they are beyond the Queen's reach for the most part. There isn't much she can do to control them. I doubt she's thrilled with the name but she's notoriously shy of personal confrontation and if they did call her about the name, she was probably gracefully evasive.
Honestly, there are other pretty forms of Elizabeth: Isabel, Isabella, Elise, Lisette, Alisa, and they very pretty Scottish form, Elspeth. In my opinion, they missed a huge opportunity to honour not only the Queen but her Scottish connections through her mother, and her love of the Scottish highlands, by not using Elspeth. It would have done the trick without being so tackily transparent about the pandering.
Elspeth Diana would have covered all the bases but not screamed, "Yeah, I know we said horrible things about you and the monarchy and the family when Philip was dying, but we still need to make our royal connections clear to the world so we can make bank on it. Oh, Doria? No worries, she's a pragmatist. She knows its's important to emphasise our kids' whiteness and connection to white icons. Yeah, she's cool, but thanks for asking."
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 7, 2021 1:00 PM |
R11, good question. The answer is that they still want all the privileges and benefits which come from being a member of the Royal Family without any of the responsibilities.
Harry and Meghan have given their children nicknames as their first names. It's an incredibly American thing to do. And the kid will have a nickname for her nicknamed, first name! It's all rather funny.

They are all, to varying degrees, her cousins too. Not for nothing was Victoria called "The grandmother of European royalty" and Christian IX of Denmark called "The father-in-law of European royalty." Most of the royal European royal families are related at this point.

Wasn't all the inbreeding the cause of a lot of their physical problems: hemophilia, jawlessness, moronism, etc.

Harry and Meghan have announced they will be taking a parental leave......from what exactly? They don't have jobs.

Russell Myers who wrote this piece is allegedly close to the Cambridge camp so I'm inclined to believe this is true.

Parental leave from Oprah interviews, they will return at the end of the parental leave to give Oprah an interview where they state how racist the whole world is, and how Meghan can barely cope with all those cameras that she invited into her house.

The story at R47 says the queen was “delighted” to have the baby named fo her.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 7, 2021 11:41 PM |
R49 - Yeah - the Queen told that to Sunshine Sachs who told the MIRROR.
None of these papers know jack shit about what the Queen said, thought, or felt.
As if, you know, the Queen had already forgotten what those two did to her whilst her husband lay dying. And then did again a month later.
