Good. I have always liked her. I feel she is so unappreciated. Hope it’s a hit for her.
Is anyone really bothered about another matrix movie? Top gun 2, the matrix 4… I think they’ll both bomb,

R1 I agree.

Funny to me this business of doing a sequel to a 35 year old movie. That’s like if they made Gone With the Wind 2 in 1974. Except in that case Scarlet O’Hara and Rhett Butler were long dead.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 6, 2021 3:58 PM |
No, they waited until 1994:
it starred Tim Dalton, and was just terrible!
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 6, 2021 4:05 PM |
r3 22 years since the first. 18 years since the last sequel.
Where did you get 36 years from?

She finally found a hairstyle that complements her forehead
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 6, 2021 4:43 PM |
Well they already did ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ that seems to have come and gone. No idea how successful it was.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 6, 2021 5:30 PM |
it was terrible, r7. The trailer is worth watching, but not the film.

I'm very happy, this is the nest news of the day. She's well liked here OP, but never has Big tread appeal. Always thought she was the most underrated and I'm glad she's back in a major studio franchise. she's a great talent.

Good for her! I love her and feel like she never got her due.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 7, 2021 9:33 PM |
She was always my favorite amongst all the precocious tween actresses who were ubiquitous in the '90s.

Is Keanu in this one?
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 7, 2021 9:39 PM |
R12 yes
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 7, 2021 9:39 PM |
No, R12, she plays the Keanu character who is now a woman, Nea.

Adore her and always have; she’s been in so many fantastic cult movies and has shone in most of them. It seems everyone who knows her, likes her. We need to give her her flowers, she isn’t appreciated in the business nearly enough.
On a superficial note, though, I think it’s weird that she’s looking more and more like Victoria Beckham with every year that goes by. She could stand to eat way more, chill with the makeup, and stop overtreating her hair.
It’s frustrating that’s she’s naturally pretty and charismatic as an actress and as a woman, but constantly and excessively covers it up like she’s ashamed in the manner of a traumatised little girl.

She rocked in The Opposite of Sex.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 7, 2021 9:47 PM |
She will always be Wednesday Addams to most people
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 7, 2021 9:49 PM |
Isn’t it a little late for this? I thought filming wrapped last year. There was even controversy because they were unmasked and had no social distancing at the wrap party.

[quote] like she’s ashamed in the manner of a traumatised little girl.
well...she IS..It's pretty well known that she's been fat shamed to the moon and back back in the day (see Gallo Vincent) and had a shit ton of plastic surgery when she was still a very young woman. I adore her, but she looks like a different person. She was fantastic in so many movies. Stealing THE ADAMS FAMILY and THE ICE STORM from under the feet of people like, Julia, Kline, Weaver and such is no small achievement. Samuel L.Jackson said he did BLACK SNAKE MOAN just for the once in a lifetime chance to work with Christina
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 7, 2021 9:54 PM |
She didn’t steal a single scene from me, I’ll tell you that! I almost slapped the little bitch for ruining scenes!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 7, 2021 9:58 PM |
Weren't people fairly disappointed in Matrix 2 & 3? I seem to remember people who loved the original wishing they would not have seen the sequels or at least say the sequels were not at the level of the first movie.
I am kind of curious as to how the Avatar sequel will do. The first one was such a big movie at the time, but have not really heard it talked about in years and I think it was more the special effects were novel for the time rather than people really caring about the story or the characters.

R21 the second was loved. It was the third that was hated
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 7, 2021 10:33 PM |
Not going to watch this one. I'm bored to death by everything being ret conned into a trans allegory, which will happen, again. Ricci is cool and underappreciated.

I'll wait for the reviews

Well, you know what Victoria Beckham's maiden name was? Adams! (though just with one d)

R19 What plastic surgery did she get? All I can see is she had a nose job (she used to have snub nose) and a breast reduction (or maybe her breasts shrank with the weight loss)
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 10, 2021 11:42 PM |
I would never have recognized her from that picture!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 10, 2021 11:43 PM |
I saw her do a livestream autograph signing and Q&A on instagram. She did it all by herself in her hotel room. She was quite pleasant and patient, she didn't get annoyed when her phone fell over several times and seemed slightly vulnerable when asking people not to make jokey comments whenever this happened. I think people were just being playful but she felt it was "bullyish". She comes across as quite gentle and not the most confident person, which makes me suspect her husband probably was the domineering and abusive one (both accused each other of abuse in the divorce). Unless it's an act and she's much fiestier in private.
But I kind of wished she was a better storyteller and said more than just "So-and-so was awesome to work with".

Of all those early 2000s ingenues, Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johannson ended up with the biggest careers. I thought Christina, Thora Birch and Julia Stiles were more talented and interesting.

I mean, of course, a 6 foot man could so easily dominate a tiny 5 foot woman like her. Though she would have controlled the purse strings (he was just a cameraman)

R30 I loved Thora Birch in Ghost World, it's a pity she pretty much disappeared.

R32 because of her father
