So Lana finally confirms it, right on time: just a few months after Anne Douglas (Kirk's widow) passes. And Michael Douglas's short, clearly pre-planned statement, "May they both rest in peace".

I wonder how much cash changed hands to get Lana to hold off on publication until the 'proper' time. This has coordinated efforts stamped all over it. Michael's statement doesn't address the accusation or discuss his father's guilt/innocence in either direction; it's like an agreement without an outright admission.

So Natalie's mom, with Lana in the back seat, drove to the hotel and waited in the car in the parking lot while Natalie went in. It was supposed to take 20 or 30 minutes. It did. But Natalie came out desheveled, crying, told her mom exactly what happened. Considering all the players involved, they decided it was best to not go to the police.

Obviously her mom wasn't blameless, but to give her the benefit of the doubt, perhaps very naive and then scared. It wasn't a set up.

Natalie's mother was the stage mother of all stage mothers. (Jaid Barrymore and Teri Shields learned everything from her.) I do not agree with some of the things she's done publicly in the years since, but I believe Lana is basically a nice person who is still looking for answers 40 years later.

Lana also writes that Robert Wagner is a homosexual and that Robert Wagner killed Natalie Wood.
